  • I went out to Sri Lanka to visit the production line for our Duotone Kites to see what goes into making a kite. The amount of skilled labour and sporting knowlage that it takes to produce what have become the most respected and high quality products on the market today. Duotone Kites. Each model from our iconic range is made with the same care and attention, a specialised design and testing team makes sure that each kite is meticulously refined. It is amazing to see that there are over 500 people in the production line, from materials, stitching, printing, quality control, packing and shipping. Each step is carefully monitored. There are over 250 individual parts in just one kite and we make up to 120 kites per day!
    This is how a Duotone Kite is made!

    Great construction but the graphics look like they were done on Microsoft Paint in 2004...

      graphics are always subjective, some people love them, some dont. If you see them on the water they will brighten up your day ;)

      Sorry but I have seen them on the water and they still suck. Last years were much better.

      @@KickMinecraftPL I can say whatever I want dude. Is my opinion, you don't have to like it. But hey, if you enjoy this design, good for you. I hope we never see another homeless hobo trucker graphic like in 2011. goo.gl/images/iPbDKx

    Awesome kites but I got to admit 2015-2018 colors and patterns were great, bright yet subtle. These ones look like the designer was busy and got his 8-year old to do the job instead

    I agree new graphics are not the best done. Because of that I also bought N2018 kite. Well, it’s a new beginning, some people will still buy this kites, but I don’t see much of Duotone on Netherlands beaches :(

    What is the name of the factory?

    • @tomcourtkite

      Jimmy JAMES it’s GSL in this video

    • @jimmyjames1411
      @jimmyjames1411 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      tom court I spoke to Dimitris old friend in CT and he said these companies just use a cad software and request x amount of kites based on the design and the factory builds and sends it to the requestor.

    • @tomcourtkite
      @tomcourtkite  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jimmy JAMES every designer uses a CAD software... definitely not a hand drawn design😜 cheap kite brands do exactly that, we are in the factors all year round making sure we are the most progressive!

    • @jimmyjames1411
      @jimmyjames1411 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      tom court out of curiosity, how does one even present an idea for a design to GSL? I’m not interested in doing it bc I’m no engineer and my ideas probably wouldn’t produce a flight worthy kite.

    Take away: Quality management is an Sinhalese Guy running around with some weighted rope.

    • @tomcourtkite
      @tomcourtkite  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no its actually all done through bar codes on each process so if there is ever a defect we can trace it back to the exact process and time... the rope is to make sure the bladders have gone in without a twist... yes, lots of the processes are manual

    • @tomcourtkite
      @tomcourtkite  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the working conditions and pay are good, the people are valued and skilled. I was in the factory with full access and interact with the place. I was impressed

    Why not making them in europe??
    Going for cheap workers is not good!! I hope your family will be unemployed one day because of business going after low salaries so you can see the kind of shit the companies are making!!

    • @tomcourtkite
      @tomcourtkite  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think by saying that you insult the sri lankan workers, they are incredibly skilled workers and know what they are doing. It is simply a matter of exchange rate that makes labour cheaper. Producing in europe doesn't guarantee higher quality, but it does guarantee higher price!
