One Of The Lightest EMTBs Available
Based on the race proven Spark with the innovate TQ motor, the Scott Lumen eRide is one of the lightest e-bikes money can buy. It feels like a regular XC/trail MTB to ride yet still offers powerful pedal assistance to help you fly up the climbs.
    130mm travel | 29” wheels
    50Nm Torque | 360Wh battery pack
First Look At The Lumen ERide
We took the Lumen out for a test on some authentic wet Welsh mountain bike terrain. Have a look at our video to find out what we thought of this exciting new lightweight e-bike.
    A Race Winning Pedigree
The Scott Lumen eRide is based on the double World Championship winning Spark with 10mm more suspension travel so you get 130mm front and rear. The Lumen is obviously heavier than the Spark but it’s much lighter than other e-bikes. The Size M 900 model we rode weighed just 16.8Kg, while weights for the Lumen eRide 900SL can be as low as 15.5Kg
The ride feel is very similar to the Spark, apart from the powerful boost to your natural pedalling power which makes you feel like you have the legs of an XC racer.
    Powerful Compact Assistance
The Lumen features the new lightweight TQ motor that offers up to 50Nm torque, is just 8cm in diameter, and weighs just 1.5Kg. This is thanks to the innovative harmonic gear system that offers smooth and efficient power delivery.
Unlike many other e-bike motors the TQ features a standard Q factor. This means that you get exactly the same rider stance when pedalling the Lumen as you would on the Spark. It also allows Scott to ensure plenty of tyre clearance without sacrificing stiffness.
    Virtually Silent
As well as being small, lightweight, and powerful the TQ motor is also very quiet. When you’re cruising along the motor is virtually silent against the background trail noise. Even when the motor is offering maximum assistance it’s still significantly quieter than the competition.
The TQ motor gives you the power you need but doesn’t shout about it. When you’re riding the Lumen eRide it feels much like riding a regular mountain bike, it’s just that you seem to have much more power in your legs.
    Power Management
The 360Wh battery pack is incorporated into the down tube. The capacity is similar to other lightweight e-bikes so should be plenty for rides with 1,000m+ climbing if you use the power modes carefully. An optional 160Wh range extender battery is available.
You can switch between the three power modes using the handlebar remote. The integrated display features graphics that tell you which mode you are in as well as the remaining battery capacity. Power mode parameters can be adjusted via the TQ app.
    Carbon Frame
The geometry on the full carbon frame is very similar to the Spark. You get short chainstays and a 65.5 degree head angle for nimble handling. You can fine tune the ride characteristics thanks to the adjustable headset cups that allow you to steepen or slacken the head angle by +/- 0.6°.
The Lumen 900 and 900SL models both feature a Syncros Fraser IC DC combination handlebar/stem. This full carbon unit is stiff, lightweight and helps keep the cable routing nice and neat.
    Integrated Shock
The Lumen has the same suspension layout as the double World Championship winning Spark, but with 10mm more travel, giving you 130mm front and rear.
Protected from the elements the rear shock is hidden inside the seat tube. When you need to adjust air pressure or rebound damping there is a port under the bottom bracket area, with an easy to remove cover, for access to the shock. A handy sag indicator on the main pivot helps with bike setup, and there is enough room in the frame for 2 water bottles.
    Twinloc
As on the Spark the Twinloc system enables you to change how the fork and shock work together. Each of the three positions on the under handlebar remote switch changes settings on both the shock and fork at the same time. The three modes give you optimal settings for descending, climbing on rough terrain and riding on smooth surfaces.
The Twinloc remote includes the dropper post lever and the cables flow neatly under the handlebars routing through frame via the headset for a clean look.
If you’re looking for a fast and nimble e-bike, that rides and fees like a regular cross country/trail MTB while still offering powerful pedal assistance, the Scott Lumen eRide is an ideal choice.
