  • So after years and year of Seth and Dan pestering me to buy a dirt bike, I finally caved and got one. Being that I have very, very little experience on one I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I might not like so I turned to Kayo, that offers a great budget friendly line of bikes that are perfect for beginners wanting to get into the sport!

    I bought a 2021 K4 250 four stroke last year as my beginner bike. Put 20 hours on it without an issue. Winterized it at the end of the season and it fired up on the 3rd push of the button after sitting for 4-5 months in a storage unit. Loving it so far!

    Get a 4 degree timing key for it. Many of the China engines get a nice power bump from it.

    Grats man! I just picked up a new FE 501s today. Haven't had a bike in a few years and this is my first dual sport. Can't wait to get riding!

    little late but i have the 250 2 stroke kayo and its great in the woods, more lugging and technical stuff is a breeze. and when i want to open her up she moves then too.!
    was a huge drop off from a 450 but the experience is way better.

    The brake lever and shift lever on my KLX250S would bend easy when laid over too. China metal lol.

    Was at a bike shop Friday and was looking at these kayo bikes. And now I'm itching to buy me and my daughter one.

      Though I don’t think riding dirt bike is for me as I always find myself saying I’d rather be in an atv when I take the Kayo out, I have no complaints about the bike itself. For a newbie with very like experience on a dirt bike the k2 230 is the perfect beginner bike at a great price!

      @AppalachianMountainRiders my daughter has a mini bike, one of the Colemans she does great on it but she is 5'10 and think it's time for something little bigger. I was wondering how the 230 does out on trails we are in eastern ky so have a lot hills to get to trails. So be pulling a lot of hills wanted to make sure had enough to pull up hills.
      I thought about buying one of the 250s for my self to ride with her. I figure I could buy 2 for price of a name brand

      The 230 does great on hills! I’m new to riding dirt bike so haven’t taken it up anything crazy but it climbs like a billy goat. My friends say it handles climbs on the trail a lot better then their big 450’s as I have plenty of power to pull the hill without being to overpowered I spin like crazy. I get up hills easier then they do on the big bikes!

      @AppalachianMountainRiders good deal. I remember having a bike when I was younger, a Suzuki dr125. And that thing wouldn't pull anything barely pulled on flat ground. Couldn't ever go trail riding cause it didn't even have enough power to pull itself up the hills.

      The weather is just now getting to where I can ride it so I only have 4 hrs on the bike so far…lol. So far no complaints but keep an eye out for more content with it coming soon. I feel it is a great beginner bike especially if it’s to see if you like riding dirt bike well enough to pursue it further like me.

    What ever happened to the turbo P500?

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Waiting for time to get it back in the shop to revamp some things. I’m wanting to tie the turbo into not only the engine oil to do away with the stand alone system, but also into the factory cooling system as well. Now that I’m working on Powersports machines full time shop’s been full and I’ve been busy! I’m also upgrading my long travel arms so that will be coming real soon!

    • @chapmancollins3519
      @chapmancollins3519 ปีที่แล้ว

      @AppalachianMountainRiders what arms are you upgrading to? I'm about to buy a 520 and wanting to do the long travel kit! Also going to disassemble the brand new engine and change the rings with appropriate gaps for running boost!

    • @AppalachianMountainRiders
      @AppalachianMountainRiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just to Joes 3rd gen arms. I currently have his 1st Gen arms. I was the second person to buy one of his kits when he first came out with them. Unlike my current straight arms, his 3rd Gen are arched and fully adjustable for camber!

      They are 100% made in China and are in fact the top off road motorcycle company in China. While they are ASSEMBLED in Texas the majority of parts are produced and shipped from China.
