    When you close your eyes and listen you hear the better sound of the Epi. Hb puts a lot of toppings on the SC like stainless steel frets, goto, and half the cost of an Epiphone. Should be an easy decision. I still find myself wanting an Epi LP custom in silverburst. Cant go wront with either brand. Thanks for comparison Steve! Cheers!

    very nice review/ comparison. What i really wouldn't need were coilsplitting things on a Les Paul. Pricewise the epiphone people have lost their minds, kinda like the fender dudes. That'swhy people started buying Harley Bentons. I own a couple of the HBs. Some had little issues, nothing major but the last one a tele 62 style in pu..y pink was a shocker. I sold my mexican Fender Tele for this.

    • @stevecassidyguitar
      @stevecassidyguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a bummer mate. However... There are loads of GREAT budget guitars that cost way less than this that are still very good quality. There are some "Fazleys" and "Harley Bentons" brand new for around £100 (sometimes less). Would be ideal for learning on. In fact this is probably the best day and age for good quality affordable guitars.
      All the best mate - thanks for the Sub 🙏

      @@stevecassidyguitar was checking out fazelys following your recommendation from other vids, but they are in uk, that means shipping will cost a lot since its outside of the UN now :) soo ... extra import taxes for shipping to Romania. Was thinking of getting a harley benson DYI kit since it seems cheaper and they have it at thoman, less tax, but its risky from what i read in the reviews since return will cost more than the product :D. Might risk it in a few months when i save enough and i might be able to get my first guitar. Also for the sub, you kidding? Really like the SC25th, bought it when I wanted to purchase a Harley Benton Telecaster to take advantage of the combined shipping price from Thomann to the US, and I barely touch the telecaster and the SC25th has become my go to guitar for standard tuning. Took a little bit to get used to the neck width, especially since I started learning bass at the same time, but I like it now, even compared to my Gibson LP, Ephiphone LPs I've had in the past (looking at you Slash Signature Goldtop), LTDs, etc.

    • @stevecassidyguitar
      @stevecassidyguitar  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not surprised at all your Benton is up there with your Gibbo and Epi 😃👍
      The quality is there - no doubt. For me... I just couldn't get on with the neck and I feel like I did give it enough time. But... I'm also not really an LP guy so I think it was a mix of both, why I wasn't enjoying the neck profile.
      As for the pickups - it might depend where you're located. In the UK we can get Iron Gear pickups which are really great for the price. A lot of users have them on par with some Seymour Duncan offerings.
      I had a Seymour Duncan JB in my Harley Benton Fusion and replaced it with an Iron Gear Rollin mill. I prefer this.
      For hotter output, you could try the hot slag or Rolling mill overwound or Dirty Torque? 🤷‍♂️ I've also heard the ToneRider Rocksong is decent too.
      Good luck with the search mate and thanks for sharing.😃👍

    I have an Epi LP Standard 2004 Made in Korea. I have the SC450GT (as a lefty, I've always wanted a gold top that wouldn't break thebank ). The Harley Benton's quality control was not up to snuff, with uneven frets- sitar, anyone? The price was right, but the Epi knocks the crap out of it sound-wise. My HB was $215 CAD new- with shipping, dutie and taxes it became $400 CAD- good for a left gold top. My Epi was $175CAD and included a Marshall 10CD practice amp. At less than half the price, the Epi wins my versus challenge easily. Yeah, it weights 10.4 lbs compared to 8.4 lbs, making the the HB's stronger and better at everythnig annoying brother.

    my ,very rich, friend has an awesome guitar collection incl a 55 les paul - his son has a harley benton LP, I prefer the HB by a mile, it's easier to play, sounds as good and doesn't stink of 60 odd years of fags, sweat and human grease

      😆 Isn't it the "Human Grease" that inflates the price? I heard all the value is in there 😜.
      But yeah, Can't argue with the quality of "most" of the Benton stuff - especially the £250+ gear 👌 (in my experience)

    It's so funny how shit epi probuckers sound compared to burstbuckers and roswell make the probuckers sound lovley in comparison....they are hot garbage...I wonder if you paid for a custome gibson pickup and slapped it in the bridge of your harley benton you wouldn't possibly have the best sounding guitar you've ever owned all for the same price roughly as an epi

      I hear ya! 😃👍
      I've never believed in Tonewood. Ever. But... I just picked up a used Harley Benton CST 24 the other day (PRS "inspired") and it has the exact same Roswell LAF pickups. But they actually sound decent 🤯🤷
      I'm putting it down to the tolerance in the pot values.😁
      Anyway... I really liked the pro-buckers. Just picked up a used set of those too.
      I'm sure I could have put something more to my taste in the Benton "LP" but I would have had to sand down the neck if I was to keep it. Was too scared to do that to it tho 🙈
      Thanks for your input mate 😃👍
