- One of my Christmas presents was an Avant Slot VW GOlf Mk1 GTI white kit.

Obviously your son has a good perception of what you need for your layout. The ability to telepathically communicate with his mom is a great talent. You are a lucky man 👍

It's not for everyone though, folk who don't like having to set a gear mesh themselves would have a total meltdown with this 😉🙃
Without an instruction sheet, I wouldn't know what went where.
I had a 1984 GTI, black with red interior. Fun car, but engine didn't last long.
what did you do to it? The 1800 DX engines was pretty bulletproof, after I sold my Golf I ran one of those engines in the back of my T25 for 15 years before I sold it and I made it work hard all that time and it never let me down.
@@slotrIt was fully replaced under warranty. Dealer said they had some weak camshafts that got into a few engines. Second engine seemed to be fine. I didn't keep it very long after receiving new engine.
