Why was ADF involved in AFG? OBL/UBL was killed in May 2011, in PAK by DEVGRU. Simple question, what did the ADF achieve in AFG and why did it withdraw in 2021 if OBL/UBL was killed in May 2011. What impact did whack - a - mole COIN ops have on the efficacy of the Taliban. Why was OBL/UBL happily living in PAK, specifically Abbottobad and just down the road from a major ISI facility? Why did ADF leadership "forget" the Yamashita standard? You need to question why ADF was involved in the IRQ war, which was unquestionably a war of aggression and therefore a war crime and you need to question why ADF was in AFG following the execution of Bin Laden. Look at IRQ and AFG, now compare and contrast with JPN and GER. It is wrong to be blind to the truth and legacy only matters if its seen through the lens of honesty.
I remember with respect, thanks to TPNG childhood and the "Fuzzy Wuzzy" angels who carried out the wounded and carried in the supplies. They wore metal plaques painstakingly engraved to look like proper military gorgets by the grateful diggers, thus we kids rendered respect ❤
Remember that we should not be sending our boys to places that they should not be. Remember Gallipoli, remember Vietnam, remember Iraq, remember Afghanistan. We should remember all of their individual sacrifices. But be more careful where we send them. Lest we forget.

Yamashita standard - something the ADF didn't uphold and avoided whilst attempting to fillet serviceman who not only did their bit, but did it repeatedly, without break or thought from so called leaders. Once again a long term failure of leadership.
Empty words from an empty leadership, devoid of thought or ideas. Standing on the graves of the fallen whilst spouting mindless cliches to hide their responsibility to veterans and failure to provide for the meaningful defence of Australia.
It pains me to say this but if ANZAC day is to mean something, the systemic ADF failures of leadership and command over 20 years must be dealt with. Stop standing on the graves of those that went before - fix the problems that have been systemic and reported endlessly, how about the suicide rate, how about the failure to equip for a peer to peer conflict. How about retention and recruitment rates. Grow up or get out of the way for leaders from elsewhere, until you fix the glaring failures of strategy and command you have lost the support of Australia and the Australian public. Why, because in another conflict many more will die for no reason other than long term mismanagement and incompetence.
