The others think it’s there’s and the treat it as such, but cuckoo birds are substantially bigger and they need more food. They basically starve out the other chicks
It's debated as to weather or not the host parents actually think that's their kids or not, in cases where the host parents do not take care of the parasite kids, the real parents show up and trash the place. For those who don’t know this is an actual think in nature where cuckoo birds will lay their eggs in other bird’s nest so they will take care of it for them. The others think it’s there’s and the treat it as such, but cuckoo birds are substantially bigger and they need more food. They basically starve out the other chicks
It's debated as to weather or not the host parents actually think that's their kids or not, in cases where the host parents do not take care of the parasite kids, the real parents show up and trash the place. So they may take care of it due to the fact that they are aware of what will happen if they don't.
