    When he said “oh Desmond was the main character” almost like he had no clue, that literally broke my heart. After realizing the fact that most people don’t know who started it all in the series, just because Ubisoft decided to kill him off so fucking early pains me to no end. Also... not gonna lie I really miss Veronica Mars in these games, if anyone understands that reference.

      AC 1 was the best, imo.

    • @Xeno574
      @Xeno574 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@5Poisons Altaïr was stoic. Which is why he's not a fan favorite. Even though in the franchise (Or atleast in lore) he's hailed as a legend.
      I don't see what's SO special about Ezio. Okay, he jokes around(He barely cracks any jokes throughout the games, he's just charmful) and is confident and charming. I don't see what makes him the SINGLE best Assassin. He's a great protagonist but to me, Edward Kenway was the best. Man goes through apparent character development and loses so much and tries his best for redemption. And that's way more interesting to me than what Ezio goes through.
      And honestly, no. AC1 was far from the best. Back then, yeah it may have been but now, the newer games(before Syndicate trash) felt way better.
      I'm just not a fan of dark and gloomy environments.

    • @5Poisons
      @5Poisons 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Xeno574 "Altair was stoic"..Are you saying that as if its something bad?
      First of all, he wasn't purely stoic. You could easily see that specially when Maria was killed and when he had to kill Abbas.
      You can also clearly see it when he's acting arrogant the first half of the game and when he rages alot at Al-Mualim and some other members of his order.
      Secondly, isn't an assassin who has to take lives and kill people supposed to have almost no feelings? Best example is Hitman and Altair was the most hitmany attitude assassin, imo and by a long shot, too..In that, yes, he was abit stoic but good stoic..needed stoic..realistic stoic for the character he's supposed to represent.
      Edward was cool but Edward was a pirate more than an assassin. Wealth and treasures mattered to him most and Black flag was more of a good pirate game rather than an AC.
      Edward was simply a cool pirate character. He never really truly bothered with the assassin vs templar conflict the game revolves around (Or used to revolve around back in the days).
      Imo, Haytham was much better character than his father Edward. His character had more depth and he had some sort of higher purpose than materialistic gain and within the templar assassin conflict plot but yea, he was not an assassin.
      Connor was the clueless young man manipulated by older men and Juno. He was stoic but this made sense because, it expresses his confusion and feeling of being lost so well..He wasn't sure of anybody anymore and felt betrayed whether by Washington or his childhood friend who misunderstood him to the extent he tried to kill him (for a good reason but still). He was not sure anymore whether to be happy or sad for this or that event. This feeling of being lost you could see most when Sam went with him to the printer to reduce his notoriety through bribery and Connor thought this was wrong and unethical and you could see he was unsure if he was really going the right way specially when he started to sympathize with his dad and asked Achilles if real peace with templars could be achieved after he was dead set on eliminating them earlier on. The only thing he seemed sure of was his hate for Charles Lee.
      Why I consider Altair the best is:
      1- because, he was the most adult themed assassin, imo and AC 1 was the most adult themed game followed by AC 3, imo..
      When I say adult, I mean here in terms of ideas, realism, depth, actually true dark atmosphere (not the trying to look dark atmosphere)..
      Example: in AC1, when you go to assassinate the priest doctor, this place truly delivers, imo and felt creepy. The city of Acre, you could see the hanged bodies, the crows, the piles of bodies outside the city and so on and the scene before you go to assassinate the doctor when he orders the guards to break the poor man's legs so he won't escape. As for AC 3, its in that battle when you were helping the patriots and the ships starting bombing them and the city close to them (I forgot the name of that mission). One of the patriot soldiers got bombed in a scene and you could see half of his body was torn apart and you could see the blood and the entrails and him screaming in pain and then the bombing of the city as Connor (you, the player) ran through it to reach the ship and the people getting bombed as they run away and the houses falling apart and the large fires everywhere.
      Sure, in Brotherhood, there was the part when Cesare attacked the Villa but it didn't feel as dark nor gory nor realistic as the AC 3 bombing felt except perhaps for the part when a kid in the Villa was searching and calling for his mom. Other than that...
      Another reason why I consider Altair the best is:
      2- Unlike most other assassins and even Ezio, Altair actually listened to his enemies before they died and always tried to analyze the situation and understand things better and always questioned Al-Mualim after hearing out the enemy. Altair was "inquisitive" and that's something you'd guess should be a skill an assassin should have.."Being inquisitive" I mean..So they can find their targets and vantage points, etc.
      3- Character development..Imo, Altair and also other assassins and even Al-Mualim and some villains had amazing character development in that 1 game "AC 1"..Like imo, Altair had more character development in 1 game than Ezio had in 3 games. Then some more character development in the FEW sequences he had in Revelations on top of the amazing character development he had in AC 1
      So, in AC 1, Altair starts as the arrogant high rank young master assassin and his arrogance leads him to a great error so he gets punished by his master "Al-Mualim" who makes him think he killed him but later he finds that instead, Al-Mualim has just deranked him to lowest rank and gave him a chance to redeem himself and return his rank back by killing some targets in 3 other different cities than Masyaf with different and unique environment each. Altair starts to eliminate those enemies and listens to what they've got to say before they die so he ends up learning from his talks with his targets and with Al-Mualim after and from the events he gets to witness as he kills them like when he killed Majd A'Deen who was blinded by arrogance and power and reminded Altair of himself back then. You can notice he is still arrogant at first when he talks with Malek and you notice Malik was still jealous of Altair and bitter with resentment for causing his brother's death. You notice this slowly starts to change. At first, he quarrels with Malik back then later, he starts to direct the talk to the main subject when Malik quarrels with him instead of quarreling back and eventually both of them apologize to each other and admit that each one was at fault and they become like best friends as you keep going towards the end of AC 1
      Even Altair's attitude slowly changes towards Al-Mualim and you can notice that in their amazing little talks after accomplishing each assassination.
      And I could write alot more about it.....
      As for AC1 as a whole, I think its best game out of AC series for the reasons above and ALSO for the following reasons:
      1-AC 1 had the most realistic setting, imo.. The animus idea which is to use human's DNA to study history is derived from a real thing in the science of genetics but in a fictional manner. The order of the assassins and the templars in AC 1 are also based on real groups that were present at that time but ofc, most of the characters are fictional specially on assassin side but trust me, if you've read through the history of the middle east at that time, many of the events and details are sort of close to that in AC 1 like the assassin order is actually based on the Levantine assassins/ Hashashin and I believe the templars were based on teutonic knights back during the crusades.
      The landmarks details even like the Masyaf Castle, it looks close to what the real one should have used to look like and even the garden (that is full of less "dressed" girls) infront of the place where Altair always met Al-Mualim after assassinations and "The promise of heaven" that Altair and Al-Mualim mentioned in the dialogue after assassinating the priest doctor in Acre (yes, its related to the garden that was strangely populated with "less dressed" girls in a time where women used to be more dressed and more "Conservative" around the middle east on either sides)
      2-I think AC 1 had the best and closer to reality conspiracy theory theme. AC 3 and AC Revelations were 2nd best in that, imo.
      3- AC 1 was the first game in this series and normally the first of a series is supposed to be like the head title of what is to come next and you'd expect that the sequels should revolve around a similar theme but what came after was more like a teen hollywood movie (AC 2, AC Brotherhood) rather than the dark realistic history movie full of amazing details, deep and philosophical dialogue. It only started to get closer to AC 1 on AC Revelations and then on AC 3 and a numbered few other games in the series but none matched the level of AC 1 in being the " Assassin's Creed" as much as AC 1 did, imo.
      I see players saying that AC series died with the death of Ezio or died after AC Blackflag or or....
      I say true AC died after AC 1 because, what came after never felt the same game again. Sure played a cool/many times a wannabe cool assassin with the badass hidden blade, did my badass parkour, used some cool Da Vinci inventions that looked cool but made no sense nor felt realistic but more "trying to look realistic but not really coming close".
      The deep and philosophical dialogue became "Requiescat en pace", "Ma Cose, Shoot shoot the flying demon", "People of Roma, you'll be liberated", Sforza showing off her panties in the players' faces as she shouts dirty insults to those 2 brothers who kidnapped her kids in Brotherhood instead of the amazing and meaningful dialogues in AC 1. XD
      Dialogue quality finally started to come back in AC Revelations (Mostly thanks to the quotes taken from AC 1 and the Altair sequences) and AC 3 (Mostly thanks to Haytham..I liked Haytham!! Why did they have to kill him off so early before providing a full game for him? :/)
      I apologize for the essay but I don't like saying that I think something is best in series without giving good reason on why I think so.

    The first time i played this game when it came out, I was absolutely blown away from it. It may be hard for people of today to understand, but at the time, around 2003-2009 or so, there were so many innovative games that its actually insane. It just wasnt heard of, a game where you can climb (pretty much) any surface, and have these big cities with big populated crownds, and you roaming freely. Same story for TES4 Oblivion for me. I was just blown away by the details, that you could enter almost any door you see, loot or atleast pick up any object you see (thanks havoc physics), and it was this big expansive fantasy world. And it was on a new generation of consoles, and it was all MIND blowing. And then Crysis came out in 2007 as well, which was also mind blowing in a lot of was. And Bioshock, which is still one of my favourite games of all time. Hard to convey to people who didnt experience it, but this was an incredible time for video games

    • @NexusKin
      @NexusKin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say the absolute peak of gaming was the 7th generation, from 2005-2013. There's a reason why it lasted almost an entire decade. It had the best of everything without succumbing to the endless exploitation, corruption and mediocrity that has plagued the industry since the 8th generation started. The first Assassin's Creed perfectly represents this 7th generation golden age, as it still holds up and is so much better to play unlike a large number of today's games.

    14 years ago began my story with this series. Watching my brother play this for the first time, I was intrigued and thusly invested time into understanding the lore. I have been devout since regardless how bad some turned out to be. Desmond was by far the only worthwhile protagonist as he made the most sense, and it is a shame what they did to his story.
    Most interesting tidbit, those who follow the history of AC know that this game series almost didn't exist because it was originally a spin off of Prince of Persia. It was nice to have a callback to this concept in Odyssey DLC.
