    Cool that you used bondo. Never thought of bondo as a mould material.

      Bondo works well but it's kind of a pain to work with because it sets so fast. I've been using plaster of Paris more, now that I can vacuum chamber it

      @@rockfoxdesigns how many pours do get out of one mould?

      @rockfoxdesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ollejoersved8552 Bondo, probably 20 or more, plaster 5 to 10; although the newer molds done with the vaccum chamber seem to last longer.

    You know, if you left the wood on, sealed and painted, they would be nice floating jig heads. You’d have to experiment with different wood densities but you get my drift. Also, if you used a long dowel, cut a slot down the whole length to fit the hook like you did, then before cutting off each head, round and shape it on the full length dowel. Then cut off the one, shape the next and so on. Thank you for the work, and offering it to us. Regards from ON, Canada eh?!

      I've thought about trying a floating jig, I'll film it if I do. I've got a new set of hooks made with the dowel rod, much easier, just haven't finished the mold yet.

      @@rockfoxdesigns it was a good job you did. I was going to comment maybe a thin dowel would have been easier.

    Great Video , But next time start with a wood dowel , round off the front , then cut to length , do slot , etc ... can change weight by changing dowel and or length

      Great advise! I didn't have the right size at that time but I'm actually getting ready to do a video on that.

    What is the compound your using for the lead mold? Good info by the way!

    • @rockfoxdesigns
      @rockfoxdesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's car body filler, 2 part resin (Bondo). It won't last forever but I've gotten quite a few pours out of it and it's still holding up strong except for one cavity that got messed up in the mold making. Thanks!

  • @ericpierce4510

    Would have been a lot easier to start with a wooden down. It’s already round. Cut to length, round sharp edges (chamfer edges), then cut your slot for hook, glue in place, make mold....

    • @rockfoxdesigns
      @rockfoxdesigns  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, but didn't have the correct size dowl at that time.

    Why Bondo?

    • @rockfoxdesigns
      @rockfoxdesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Holds up better than plaster and is cheaper and easier to find than casting silicone.

      Eagle Claw Jig Hook 570. I believe this is a 1/0 size but you can change up the sizes and brand of hooks.

      Not taken as rude, I appreciate the feed back 🙂. I'm pretty sure these hooks would break over bending though. I have more problem with them being dull. I fish pretty light gear too because my area is ultra finesse but I will consider the Owner hooks next time. I haven't heard of them before. Keep the feedback coming, helps the channel!

    • @rockfoxdesigns
      @rockfoxdesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No one wants to watch me buy a mold and pour lead in it ;). Also, the available Ned rig mold doesn't work well for the Wobble Head Ned Rig (See my other video). This method also allows you to customize a lead jig, say add eye sockets for 3D eyes. Also, it's just fun to make your own mold and it's pretty easy. But yes you can purchase one for around $47 shipped.

      Making lures for yourself is NEVER about saving money, brother. The art of making something, to lure in and catch your food is a tradition. There is a fantastic inner feeling that men are losing over the years, just because guys take this very position. If I could get the correct metal I would stretch and wind the bronze wire, just to make the actual hooks myself. I know you were just kind of joking, so my comment is just to get out a point about the love of creating your own products. No slam is intended my man. Tight lines!
