Where can I find that? other than that I don`t see any problems doing it myself.
I think it’s brilliant to replace the batteries especially as an upgrade. The one thing that I’d like to know is what is the cost involved with this type of upgrade?
Looks like they were using Muxsan for the hardware, try looking here for an idea on pricing muxsan.com/English/products.html#nissan-leaf-battery-swapsupgrades
James, I love the fact that these upgrades are becoming quite normal. What happens to the degraded batteries once removed? Have you found a good recycling facility that can repurpose or recover the core materials. Would love to know.
Currently there's no need to recycle as they're in demand for other purposes so they can simply be sold on. Most people are making a home Powerwall from them
Good question, many people are not aware just how much power electric car batteries produces, often 10 to 20 times more than you'll use in your home, so a 25kw/h battery even down to just 15kw/h capacity could power a home for several days alone, possibly weeks if used with Solar Panels before needing mains power.
I see EV’s Enhanced can fit the env200 cooled battery packs to older Leafs with their own kits. Maybe you guys could make contact and offer this as well, although, I know these batteries are more rare.
That's a really good question Looking forward to the answer I read somewhere that one use of old electric car batteries is to use them for storing excess electricity generated from solar pv panels which you can then use later in the evening/night when you are not generating any solar
My friend, how true is the talk about raising bars from 10 to 12? Is it true that the module is being changed? As far as I know, the module does not change because the average readings 1/48 must be one because they are consecutive and what is the solution if the bars go down to 10
Great video. It’s useful to know gen 1 and 2 Leaf batteries can be upgraded to improve their range. What are the typical costs? What sort of saving could people expect buying a cheaper, older model Leaf and replacing the batteries against a newer 40KWh model?
What happens with the old batteries? Are you able to convert them to home storage somehow? Also, Battery heater? Is it not possible to add this with a view to improve the life of the battery? Just wondering how many years this £8500 upgrade gives the car back before the new battery also degrades. Don’t want to be a negative but my 30kWh Leaf still pushes my buttons
I am looking to buy my first ev. I'm thinking 2016 Nissan leaf or 2016 Kia Soul. The more I look..the more unsure I become. Any thoughts, opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Canada.. so winter driving is a consideration. I have to make a decision soon.
I’ve already done 22.000miles on my battery and because I do do a 7kw slow charge my battery is giving me 175miles per charge. When I first had it I was getting 188 miles when new

Hey there, nice job! If you were to get a boot extender installed first, is it technically possible to come back and have the main pack swapped out later if needed? (way down the line!) Or is it one or the other, swap or extender?
Everyone asking how much point of the video is to show it's available and possible. How easily it's done is down cleavely expertise, prices in future will change and it's kinda privacy issue for their customers. Great video simple but straight to the point.

£8500 to reuse an already paid for leaf and make it roadworthy for at least another 100,000 miles sounds great and adds extra range at the same time, better than spending £15k on a newer car
I agree with you. It is about £140 per 100 miles. It is not cheep.
I`m looking into replacing my battery myself. I have a 2012 mod, 8 bars and 155 000km on it.
i want to put in the 30kwh since it`s cheaper and works more than enough for me.
But the one thing scaring me off is the canbus and the software etc. I don`t have much knowlegde about it. Is it something I can buy cheap? and whatabout the software. Where can I find that?
other than that I don`t see any problems doing it myself.
Amazing! How much would this cost?
How much is an upgrade? With no complications?
Love it!!! Great work Matt and James.
@@ryanhawtin9639 so basically as much as the car is worth having seen some of the second hand Leafs around.
Most people are making a home Powerwall from them
@@Jamesandkate excellent second life is just what you want at this stage. Glad to hear there's a good market for that.
Good question, many people are not aware just how much power electric car batteries produces, often 10 to 20 times more than you'll use in your home, so a 25kw/h battery even down to just 15kw/h capacity could power a home for several days alone, possibly weeks if used with Solar Panels before needing mains power.
Hi great video 👍🏻
I’d like to upgrade my battery on my 2013 Nissan Leaf, could I ask where your based and a cost for this please?
Many thanks
I see EV’s Enhanced can fit the env200 cooled battery packs to older Leafs with their own kits. Maybe you guys could make contact and offer this as well, although, I know these batteries are more rare.
Amazing! Where can you get 40Kwh battery and how much does it cost? Does Nissan sell these to 1st gen Leaf owners?
Very interesting to watch but can you slow down when you pan the camera to show a cable path etc? It plays havoc with my eyes , they can't keep up :)
another great video! considering buying a 1st gen leaf and bringing it up to you!
a question: what happens with the old packs?
That's a really good question Looking forward to the answer I read somewhere that one use of old electric car batteries is to use them for storing excess electricity generated from solar pv panels which you can then use later in the evening/night when you are not generating any solar
You've answered the question for us.
My friend, how true is the talk about raising bars from 10 to 12? Is it true that the module is being changed? As far as I know, the module does not change because the average readings 1/48 must be one because they are consecutive and what is the solution if the bars go down to 10
How much did these updates cost the customers?
Great video. It’s useful to know gen 1 and 2 Leaf batteries can be upgraded to improve their range.
What are the typical costs? What sort of saving could people expect buying a cheaper, older model Leaf and replacing the batteries against a newer 40KWh model?
I wish someone answers
You guys at Cleevlely are kicking it! You should be doing Robert L’s old 24 Leaf, instead of him taking it to Holland.
Defo.
It's been suggested.
That's forward thinking like it ...it would be so good for both channels to show case uk companies.
When I first had it I was getting 188 miles when new
Hi James. Great vid. I wanted to ask you on how I could get the flash update for the 30kW battery, (Campaign PC630) over OBD upload? I'm down under and have a Japanese import 2017 30kW AZE0 - Is there a way of contacting you direct? You seem to know these cars very well know! :) Cheers Dan.
Hey there, nice job!
If you were to get a boot extender installed first, is it technically possible to come back and have the main pack swapped out later if needed? (way down the line!)
Or is it one or the other, swap or extender?
It's possible to do both in any order 👌🏻
Have a question I have a EV200 Nissan van it works fine in the daytime but at night when I turn on the lights it hardly wants to move
Upgrading old EV cars might be essential & is definitely interesting. Next upgrading ICE cars to EV's. Request the ICE vw golf upgraded pls
Noted!
Very expensive ev ing ICE cars. When solid state battery tech is improved to reduce battery size that will really help.
Everyone asking how much point of the video is to show it's available and possible. How easily it's done is down cleavely expertise, prices in future will change and it's kinda privacy issue for their customers. Great video simple but straight to the point.
nice video. Very inspiring. How much would this cost in total? Thanks.
Hi, I have a 24kwh 17 plate Leaf and I’m really interested in a battery upgrade to 40kwh. Do you have an indication of rough prices for this kind of upgrade?
£8500 from their website
Hello, do you sell what is needed to install a 40kwh battery into a 2012 Leaf that has the 24 kwh battery?
Is anyone going to get an answer of an estimate of cost
I've got a 2011 Leaf but am hesitant to exchange a flawed air cooled battery for another flawed air-cooled battery. Will the modern replacements degrade any less quickly?
Are there any long term issues with not having the ability to heat the 40kWh pack?
Lower performance in winter in cold climates.
Awesome! How much of a range upgrade is it
Asking for a friend but where do you buy these?
How many miles per charge now?
What is the actual cost of upgrading
How much do you charge for this? Got a 30kWh. No battery degradation I'd just prefer a 40 and don't want to upgrade the car itself.
James, are you allowed to comment on what the approximate rate for a new battery replacement is ?? Im just curious for when my battery get to degraded to drive. thanks ...
Prices are on the Cleevely website.
I can't see any prices on their website
Check the Muxsan website - not cheap though. I assume the trade get a discount but even so it's a hefty price by the look of things. muxsan.com/English/products.html#nissan-leaf-battery-swapsupgrades
@@alfaboy1554 Ah sorry. They used to be there. Hmm.
What’s the cost of having something like this done on a Gen 1 ?
I’m looking at my first EV and addressing any battery issues and increasing the range by fitting a 40kWh battery would be high on the costing list before buying.
It says in the comments above he paid £8,000. Cheaper to sell the car and but a new model at that price!
3 hours labour so maybe £300 to fit. Are the batteries themselves £7,700 I wonder? Seems a bit much.
where are you guys located
Why splice the newer connector in ? Surely a dedicated pigtail would be better. The NZ company offer these. Just plug and play.
No costs mentioned
