    Congratulations on 50K! I like what I'm seeing so far here. I tend to prefer my hawks with hammers instead of spikes, but that's just me. I find it makes for an overall better utility. I'm keen to see where this hawk is two months from now after some additional use.

    Hi Scab, just a little advise for you today: when you hammer something, don’t put your thumb on the back of the handle as you will get tendinitis with time. I have to check myself to not do it, so I know it’s difficult not to do it even when we know better. Take care of yourself and congratulations on the milestone.

    I really like the blade geometry of that hatchet. It looks wicked sharp, and I love wicked sharp. One thing that kind of makes me cringe, though, is watching it used as a prying tool without a hood or sheath covering that sharp edge. Because it looks like it could cut the crap outta a hand if it slipped...
    Also, congratulations on 50k subs! Awesome, bro. You deserve it👍

    It is thin for a camp hatchet but for a combat tool its all good. Obviously you can use it for camp tasks but thin axes have always historically been for hitting cloth armor & flesh. While a thicker head is usually best for wood & that straighter edge usually means soft targets as well. While a curved edge is for hardwood

    • @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors
      @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems they mixed everything together. I would like to see it at least an 8-in thicker. It held up okay and had my finger not kept getting in my way I could have gone a little harder That's why I'm thinking maybe some long-term testing might be better served on this

    My biggest concern with these is that a TON of companies make something identical. Will the edge chip on dry hard wood? Will the screws back out? It is neat but I haven't pulled the trigger because these actually scare me a bit.

    Well done and said, brother. As a one tool option, an axe is very important so car carry is definitely an important consideration. Having said that, I’ve said before that the main consideration of mine is self defense. And as I carried a knife from a very early age, an axe was usually not an option. To me, one of the larger bladed Work Tuff knives would be more my choice for EDC. I couldn’t put it on my belt and walk around with it in Massachusetts but slipping it right behind the button of my jeans was how I carried and I’ve carried some Large blades in my youth. So that would be a little easier for that. But a good axe is ALWAYS something people should carry in the car. It’s too important NOT to have. And not even as a SHTF type of car carry. Just to have it. In your car, there are too many situations to mention where you might need such a tool/weapon.
    I like the design. Just having the replaceable waffle head hammer is a big plus. The pry bar/nail puller is another great idea. I built houses in Florida for ten years and realized it’s usefulness then. I like the angular top edge for closer work. And that little bit of spike on the bottom is nice. The hook possibilities are cool. The pry bar is also a cool combat option for obvious reasons.
    So…all in all….a good review. I look forward to the long term review vids to see how it does. Thanks for always keeping it real, Scab. Great job, as always and keep that finger clean….

    • @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors
      @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey brother thank you for the detailed comment I really do appreciate it. I also agree that it is a good carry for the car. The one thing I will say that I do like about it is act like carrying things tucked in my belt not necessarily hooked on it but tucked in it I slid this down in my belt with the sheath on of course and it was very very comfortable. Here in Florida we are able to walk around with all kind of stuff now would I walk around with this well not in public but definitely in the woods. The other thing I like about this is it's light it's razor sharp and it's fast so if I were put any self-defense situation I think it would be a good backup or a good tool to have just in case.. as always brother I truly appreciate the comment and the thoughtfulness put into it I most certainly do

    @davidneal6920 ปีที่แล้ว

    Congrats on 50k Brother! I have very little experience with axes. But it does look very versitile given the chopper, the spike and hammer. But yeah like you said be good to see how it stacks up over the long term. You asked for my opinion on the WTG Forester ? - looks absolutely top notch as a general hunting knife. For a straight out hunting knives I like something stout with a blade 4-5 inches long. However for survival often I carry a slightly larger Bowie or combat utility blade as you can do quite a bit with them. Cheers Bro 😎 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

    • @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors
      @choirboyzcutleryoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey brother thank you for taking a look at that. It feels really good in the hand and I love it for a couple of reasons. Wtg handles are just the balls they are absolutely awesome. The other thing with WTG is their heat treat it is easy to sharpen but it holds an edge pretty well! Thank you for taking the time I really appreciate it man. I know you have vast experience hunting that's why I ask. As far as this act goes I do think it would be useful to you because its light and fast it's also super sharp. However, I know that experience with the tool is a must before you carry it

      So far so good I think I did one more video and I gifted it to a friend who has used it way more than I was going to. I honestly the way the channel set up right now it's hard to do long-term anything we have so much stuff coming in and that's a good problem to have I know right now we just have to keep it moving. Once it slows down I'll kind of restructure a little bit where I can do some long-term stuff. But at the end of the day it made it through 2 hard use reviews and several 4x4s I'll try to get an update on it this week

    Good review, but should add that ANY knife can be sharp, question is can it be resharpened after it dulls and how easy can it be resharpened.. some steels require a ton of work and some just need a basic sharpener like a ceramic rod, wet stone, or diamond stone that u can carry in a backpack. Unlike some that might require a electric sharpener like a worksharp
