I worked for Walmart 3 separate times! They are beyond twisted. It's a whole lot worse than you were even told. The point system is now 5 points only. A 9+ year employee, and a veteran at 80ish years old, his wife has a serious accident. Nearly died bleeding out and they pointed him for having to go to her in the hospital and care for her. Do not work there. You will be abused, misused, and unjustly punished for even the smallest thing.
Getting unjustly punished for the smallest things reminded me of my experience working at a local chain of stores in Ohio called Giant Eagle. They would get on me if I clocked in a single minute late from coming back from break. Ridiculous.
A few things you mentioned have changed - Points went from 12 to 5. We were given protected paid time off to use to remove points, but it takes forever to accrue and you cap out at 48 hours. - The dress code was changed last year to be super relaxed, which I have to admit was one of the few things I liked about the company. - The whole thing about forcing employees to work off the clock was taken to court and Walmart lost. So now they’re super anal about employees not working off the clock and never getting overtime, to the the point where they would coach you for a single minute of overtime. Source: Got terminated a week ago. Best thing to ever happen to me. Fuck that sinking ship. I can’t wait to watch the whole company sink.
I worked for Walmart when I was younger and they were real strict about clocking out for breaks and stuff. Years later I got a notice in the mail that employees from a Walmart on the other side of the state were filing a class action suit against Walmart for forcing employees to work off the clock. They won and I ended up getting a check in the mail for $4,000.
I worked for Walmart. I had no problems except the manager yelled at me for double bagging the people's groceries. But the stories I hear from other employees there are horrible. They get rid of their long term employees and replace them with new people. The wages are low. They got rid of most of their cashiers and replaced them with self serve checkouts. They only care about filling their pockets with profits, they could care less about the betterment of man kind. A lot of the rich feel it is only important for a few to live in this world comfortably. They could less less if people are starving on the streets.
Worked in a DC doing a very vital role, keeping the whole operation running, corporate and management do a tour every month or so and literally sabotage your area and talk down to you. Zero respect for hard working employees, they just give you more work to do and you have to fix the stuff they screwed up. I've never had such horrible management in my life.
Worked at Wal-Mart for about 3 years. ALL OF THIS IS TRUE! Especially the lazy management hanging out in the back refusing to actually come out to the floor to help unless it's absolutely necessary. Was almost written up for being busy with a customer in one area, and not also taking care of a customer in another area. Because I missed that day of training(non-existent) where they teach you how to be in 2 separate locations at once.
@@youtubecommercialsareascam8495 I was a 21 year old college student, new father, and didn’t have the knowledge or resources to push back against them in court. Which they bank on that last part. Otherwise every employee would sue.
My bosses (not Walmart) found out that I will UnIronically tell them that 😂 "Sorry, I missed the training where we were shown how to be 2 places at once" Go ahead and fire me, I'm the best wherever I go, because I actually put in the work 🤷♂️ I know for a fact I do my job, so I take it very personally 😂

Well, since government prostitutes out it's power to corporations, as a corporation I would help draft a regulation that makes that illegal and subject to fines, and dismissal and Mr. and Mrs politician will sign on to it because afterall I give them money. This is just how companies treat employees now, and we can thank Walmart for being a corporate pioneer on that.
I was reading something about how Walmart stores are all notoriously understaffed, EXCEPT, the one next to the Walmart headquarters. THAT store has fully stocked shelves and enough registers open.

I am a vendor, too, and Walmart is terrible. There is no leadership. They are so unorganized, and communication is terrible!....all of the employees always look like they want to end their lives.
First job I had was at a Walmart in Las Vegas. I saw a lady dropping a deuce in the shampoo aisle on my shift. I asked, "Ma'am what are you doing!?!?" She replied, "What the hell does it look like, I'm taking a sh*t!" I've seen worse thing there. #TrueStory.

I'm sorry you had that experience. I wish every store could have the Management Team I have here in Vienna WV. My wife had gone into false labour, or whatever that is called, on Thanksgiving Night during the Black Friday Event Sale. I was a CSM at that time and every Manager kept coming by where I was stationed asking how she was doing. It's not that simple, perhaps you will refuse, which is fine, but the next time you are 10 seconds late, or you did some extremely minor slip up, you're fired.
@@dragonore2009 Yeah, it really is. Stupid petty crap like this is why you document everything concerning your employer, especially extremely dubious crap. So you can protect yourself when they decide to start screwing with you. If you get fired for a trivial offense following that, it's on them. If that Walmart is asking people to work off the clock, then passing forward the time to the next pay period, there will be documentation of the time card records, paychecks and security footage not aligning along with plenty of witnesses if this is common. I don't know where you are politically? However if we had free market Capitalism (we don't), you could just record the conversation without worry of being prosecuted or violation some regulation some company helped draft to prevent that. How? Well of course the low tech way would be an audio app or something on your phone, but alternatively it could be your glasses that have a camera or a pen or watch you wear. Since we don't have free market Capitalism, odds are there are regulations in place that prevent that, so check with your state.
I worked at Walmart for 12 years full time overnight. My store manager wouldn’t let me move to another store to move up in the business my breaking point was after 12 years I was only making 11.50 a hour. You could start tomorrow making the same as someone that’s been there 12 years
I worked for Subway for 8 years and earned my 13$ an hour..... Then minimum wage kept going up. I remember at one point brand new people would be making almost as much as me and new people that got their 90 day review would be even closer to what I made at some point. It is messed up for being a loyal employee at places that start people off at minimum wage. It just comes with the territory. As a current Walmart employee I’m glad to hear it’s not just my Walmart that is garbage. The entire part about management not doing anything and always being in the ad office is beyond true. Thank you for this video
Or they are in the formerly HR office since they got rid of HR, the person you report to is your People Lead in the Personnel office. If management is not in the ad office bullshitting, they are in the personnel office or the store manager or assistant store manager offices bullshitting doing nothing or having a useless meeting.
I worked at Walmart for 2 years, and I can't count how many times the managers have had me crying. There were many days where they had me alone, working the entirety of the fashion department. That includes, men's, women's, girl's, boy's, shoe's, cosmetics, AND the jewelry departments. They gave me keys to the jewelry department, and the keys to the fitting room. And so many times, I'd get called up to deal with a customer in jewelry, while other customers are ringing the bell at the fitting rooms, to have one of the rooms unlocked. Manager's would come up to me, and literally get upset that I wasn't helping the customer at the fitting room, WHILE I was currently helping the customer by the locked jewelry cabinets.. Managers literally wanted associates to be in multiple places at once, then giving them trouble for being unable to do so. :/
This was my experience and a wise associate said, “I am not an octopus no way it is possible to be in all those places and finish everything at once. Even if you zoned like they want. You are still left the returns at the end of the night. I am so glad I was not imagining that.
I feel ya. I also worked at a walmart for two years. Overnight stocker. Worked hard and did my best and got a promotion to stocking their dairy section. Had one associate manager get on my case frequently for hauling around too much on my rocket cart, saying there was no way I could get that much stock either onto the shelf or back into the walking cooler in the thirty minute time window. Then, when I could come out with less a different manager would get on my case for not having enough on my cart. "Too many trips to and from the cooler". When I told either of them that I was getting tired of feeling like a rope in a tug of war game I might as well have been speaking a different language they didnt know. It was maddening. Only job where I left without doing the two week notice, and also the only one where, frankly, I am untroubled by that. I still shop there though. I live in a touristy town where the walmart is the only place to buy things like electronics and clothes that isnt marked way up to gouge out of towners so I kind of have to. I always feel a wave of relief wash over me whenever I enter that place due to the gratitude that I no longer work there, except for the rude glances I get from one of those managers that still works there who I occasionally see.

Yet the management would ask me to come in when I had 36 hours or so on several occasions and then tell me I needed to clock out before I went into overtime and encouraged me to still finish the shift. Made zero sense but I was 18 so I just listened. Till one day they wanted me to write them an essay on something that the DM cited in a completely different department that I didn’t even work in and they had pinned on me and was clearly using me as a scapegoat and I just had to stand up take my stuff off and walk out and I never went back... greatest shit that ever happened I now work as an assistant medical director and live in Hawaii... so glad I didn’t let Walmart fuck my life up😂... they wanted me to switch my hours up and take me away from school even though I have my availability when they hired me originally... threatening with termination if I didn’t change my school schedule to fit their needs instead of accepting the fact that they hired me with prior knowledge of my availability... just such a toxic work environment that sucks the fucking life from you every single day... can’t even go into a damn Walmart as a customer to this day because I hate the entire organization 😂🖕🏼

Can confirm this. I worked at 2 different locations over a total of 5 years. Started temp, moved part time, then full time then to department manager. Here's an example: I got coached (a write up) for one of my associates not getting a project done given to them when I had to leave. Next week they give me a huge project 15 minutes before I'm supposed to leave, I stay to finish it and leave about 4 hours late, they coach me again for staying late to finish it, when I asked who supposed to finish projects if my associates dont and I cant stay late, they just kept talking. Their meetings (basically all salary managers in the store including store manager) that I walked into several times consisted of them making fun of a disabled guy in a wheelchair, the weight of a associate, the studder of somebody with tourettes, and more. They also went after them to write them up for anything. I got soo many more stories
My assistant manager was literally crying when she fired me. She mentioned that the attendance system was bullshit, but she had no choice but to fire me because of company policy. I had gotten horribly ill, and HAD the protected PTO to cover the sickness. I entered it as "PTO sick" and was told nearly two weeks later when I was fired that "PTO sick" was not what you were supposed to use for sick PTO. What the actual fuck.

I worked in a Walmart briefly after undergrad and let me tell you: it was a lesson in inefficiency. For every employee there was an assistant manager. There were so many assistant managers that I honestly couldn't have told you which one(s) I answered to. They spent about 75% of their shift looking busy and doing zero actual work. The only thing that was good was as long as you looked like you were working on stuff they'd leave you alone.

In that situation most people would agree it is advisable to not speak against your companies business partner. he's also said the state he's in doesn't require employer to have reason to dismiss an employee and his company is small. Wally World is trying to compete with Amazon, but doing so on the cheap. To 'save expenses' they implemented a policy where instead of breaking up online orders and shipping out things the way you'd bag them up front (which had been policy) they now want everything into the same boxes. I love living in a country where I have the freedom to be thrown scraps in the hope that I may eat, by billionaires who will never know what a day's work feels like. Slavery...er, I mean capitalism...is great.
But I love capitalism becomes it means anyone can make it happen in America, it’s just a matter of finding the right opportunities and the right people. They’re not going to come to you so you have to look for them. It’s just as Bill Gates said “it’s not your fault if you were born poor but it is your fault dying poor” or something like that
@@eli2210 Well that sounds good on paper but it's just unrealistic. The position you're born in directly impacts your opportunity, and ability. In every job ive ever had, my bosses were born into privilege and given their positions. Do people move upward? Yeah, but it's not even remotely equal. It's an uphill battle all the way for the average person, and I literally watch people who have been given everything sit at the top and jerkoff every single day. In reality, a homeless person is not going to become a CEO, and a CEO does not have to worry about becoming a homeless person. A person at the bottom can go bankrupt, and lose their house if they get cancer. They can't afford a 400 dollar emergency. They can fall from the ladder at any time. I've seen people in their fifties lose everything because of medical bills, and that's not their fault. The wealthy never have that concern. Some of them can go their entire lives without ever knowing what it feels like to not be able to afford a doctor. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying communism is the answer, but it's important for our politicians to realize that everything isn't all roses and gumdrops. That corruption is a thing, class economics are a thing, and things are not fair. The deck is stacked. We can do better.
Everyone keeps saying you have five points to use. Not true at all. At five you will be fired. So you really only have four points. Maybe four point five but that's super pushing it. If you ever use your points Walmart will label you as "unreliable". If you use your ppto and never have more then 20 hrs they will treat you HORRIDLY. It messes up they're (upper managements) chances at a quarterly bonus. I wish I was joking. I was almost at seven years at my old store before they fried me for covid issues (I missed a lot of work during the pandemic due to getting covid over and over and over again) and then a year later was hired at smaller Walmart (not any better at all so much more drama) and I may be losing my job for getting sick lol. They (leads) pick and choose who they want to help. If the leads really like you then they will take away your points no problem because favoritism is big in this company. OH and don't bother going to ethics because it does NOTHING what so ever. They get away with a lot. A lot a lot.
I worked at Walmart for two weeks, before I had enough. Well....full disclosure (a better job popped up). Nonetheless, this guy is speaking the truth!!
Yeah good luck they get the best lawyers money can buy..but as an associate I agree with everything only differance is my store is in Canada. same shit different pile.
I got fired for gross misconduct on May 12, 2023 and 18 days later on May 30 started a new job. May 26 I had an interview at my new job at a smaller grocery store job and going from $14 an hour at Walmart after 4 years and 3 months there starting in apparel and then going janitorial maintenance full time. My new job is part-time at $15.50 an hour at the supermarket and have some sanity back. I was fired from Walmart for gross misconduct and ineligible to be rehired. Walmart did me a favor. I still have lingering pains from the maintenance job from tossing garbage into the compactor on my left collarbone and around my groin which I hope I don't have a hernia or tear. I have to get that checked when I finally have health insurance. Aside from what I did to get fired and deeply regret, I feel free from Walmart. Fuck the Waltons, Fuck Sam's Club and Fuck Walmart!
Shut your pathetic ass up Richard. You are just another pathetic drone who sells his soul to upper management and corporate for a chance at a decent promotion.
Knife Dreamer well to start pay is minimum for the company at $11 as a base there is no position in the store that starts at less and that company wide. I live in a state that is well below that starting pay for minimum wage and all starting pay is $11. The attendance policy wasn’t even close to correct he is right that it just changed but all associates get 5 points each point they get falls off after six months of them getting the point and they also get protected paid time off that they are allowed to use to completely cover them for a missed day regardless of the reason. Now if the store is understaffed the store may have only had 1 person covering which does happen but it shouldn’t be an every day thing. The PT associates still have some medical benefits if they can maintain 30 hrs average over the year which isn’t hard for most people if they don’t restrict when they want to work and we have 300+ associates in my store and just this week we made 10 associates FT that were PT. Look I said it in a different comment Walmart isn’t perfect but most of what he described was just lies. Also I won’t speak to how managers act at other stores but I’ve worked at 5 different stores and most the managers that act the way you described were fired from the company years ago for incompetence. I’m a manager and most of my day is on the sales floor following up with my associates and helping customers.
@@hennetcolt sorry for saying "pathetic ass", that was rude of me. But anyone that loves walmart enough to defend it the way you do is 99% of the time either brainwashed or a corporate suck up in my personal experience. Any manager that actually cared about customers or treated their employees well was fired or forced out.
I just quit my job at Walmart , after Three Years of bullshit Team Leads and a highly passive aggressive Operation Manager I had enough. The harder you work , the worse they treat you. Plus they like to 🎯 people for isolation and exclusion. 🗑️ Job with🗑️ Upper Management.
I have a friend that worked there for years the same thing happened to her. She was asked to run about four different departments at the same time because there was not enough people. They would give her keys to all of the jewelry cases. But she always got the last laugh in the end. She worked there for about 12 years. What she would do is go online and get the same exact piece of jewelry that that was in one of the cases and exchange it out. So when she left a few years ago they never even noticed. So remember she ran into a little money problem she would Pawn the jewelry out or she would have a jewelry sale.
I worked for Walmart from 2015-2017 and a lot of what you brought up did not happen while I was there. No one was ever allowed to work off the clock and you were never allowed to go over your scheduled hours or you’d get a write up. The dress code was changed to be very relaxed after I left as well and I believe everyone starts out at $11 an hour now. After being there a year I was also allowed to get health insurance. I didn’t hate my time at Walmart and made a few good friends but what made me leave was them refusing to promote me. They kept stringing me along and telling me I was moving to another department that I wanted to work in but never would so I ended up leaving.
I am a former Walmart Associate and everything you have said in this video is true. I just recently got fired from walmart for miscommunication and for no reason. The first write up i had was for my hygiene which was a problem easily fixed. The second write up was for no reason I worked in the photolab and any customer that comes in and want their rolls of film developed the film has to be sent to a company that does it and it comes back to our store digitally on the computer and the photos get printed. Here's where the write up happens. our rolls of film get shipped every monday and thursday. My days off was sundays and thursdays. Wednesday I had the rolls of film all ready to go in a shipping box so it can be shipped the next day. i come in on friday and I see 8 rolls of film left on the counter and a shipping box in the trash. So a lady with a god complex comes in and asks if her rolls of film were developed the manager that she talks to found out that her rolls of film were not shipped yet so she got angry and management said ok when they get shipped we'll give them to you for free because of the inconvience. So i get called into the office a few hours later and management wrote me up for "Not doing my job right". Yeah i didn't know what happened because this was the first time i had heard her rolls of film weren't shipped. I told this to them that i had no knowledge of this because this is my first time hearing it and also i was off the previous day. But they act like they didn't care. The miscommunication starts shortly after this incident. Sometimes When i would leave there's an associate That stays past 9:00 because they were scheduled till 10:00 and so the associate would tell me to put the keys in the drawer. I have heard that sometimes the 10:00 associate would leave the keys to puts them in the drawer then they leave because they were told to leave them in the drawer and management would pick the keys up then i would hear turn them into management. So one night i was the only associate left till 9:00 the associate that was supposed to be there till ten was not there so i put the keys in the drawer and left. A week later i was called into the office for leaving the keys in the drawer. So the manager said well i am not going to write you up for this instead im gonna have to let you go. So my point to all of this is watch out when you work for walmart they will write you up for the pettiest crap. Especially if you have worked there a long time and a good worker that follows policy to the letter.
Thank you so much for making my decision less stressful!. You are absolutely right about everything you just said, OMG!!? Opened my eyes tremendously and the hiring manager did express how they are cut throat!!!
I was almost about to work for Walmart. Got the job ,full time and went to orientation, but that same week I got offered a dream job so of course I took it. I’m so happy I was saved from that job.. just by the orientation I could tell I dodged a bullet. Side note, they recently lowered the point system to 6, from 12. And there was a 15 minute portion of the orientation that strongly encourages that employees don’t unionize. Which to me told me that treatment must really be unfair if they don’t want employees getting some ideas for better benefits and treatment.
Preston Cormick I worked for target. They fucking get on your ass to be smiling at customers. They can suck my dick with that fake ass mindset. Fuck any retail job.
I was in a similar situation! I worked as a merchandiser (contract with Walmart), the management was a real mess, witnessed a person quit. Employees didn't want to be there, managers were jerks, definitely a negative vibe all around! Happy I'm not in that business anymore.
When I was at Walmart one of my coworkers was walking into the store to clock in while at the same time a guy was literally running out with beer lol my coworker tackled him down and waited for security to get there so when they got there he leaves to go clock in and they marked him late smh he explained why but they didn’t care. I got a lot of shit to say about Walmart but I’m not trying to sit here for hrs writing about it lol
We don’t wear uniforms people can wear jeans and a t shirt if they want and vests are free for associates to have that are given to them by the company
I started Walmart when I was 17. I was working 30-39 hours a week while going to Highschool full time. They were not allowed to keep me over 8 hours on the mark. I had to stay after for like 30 minutes. The HR department made me sign a paper saying I forgot to clock out on time. I didn’t get the 30 extra minutes on my paycheck.
I had worked at a sams club and that exact same thing happened to me no joke i thought it was my bad luck. Walked bout out to grab my badge was 30 secs late and fired. My replacement was hired and interviewed that day.
Dirty lawyers and fag judges they pay off.
Getting unjustly punished for the smallest things reminded me of my experience working at a local chain of stores in Ohio called Giant Eagle. They would get on me if I clocked in a single minute late from coming back from break. Ridiculous.
A few things you mentioned have changed
- Points went from 12 to 5.
Yep you definitely worked there, you are accurate.
I'm glad you're free now.

Worked at Wal-Mart for about 3 years. ALL OF THIS IS TRUE! Especially the lazy management hanging out in the back refusing to actually come out to the floor to help unless it's absolutely necessary.

I worked at Walmart when I graduated high school and started college. I was told to never allow my time card to go past 40 hours and I would be fired if I worked overtime.
Man this makes so much sense for the employees acting annoyed all the time. I feel bad for them

Use a voice recorder on phone when dealing with boss at walmart. Get evidence of them forcing you to work with no pay. File a Lawsuit.
Bon Bonjovi you have to be careful with that, it depends on the state, and where it’s recorded. Some states don’t allow voice recordings without permission so it could get legally hairy for someone if they were to do so.
You can go off hearsay evidence and then I'd they make a false statement motion the judge to allow the recording to impeach their statement

I worked at Walmart. Basically there was times where I'd get sick from anxiety and would start throwing up, so I couldn't come in. This happened three times, so basically I couldn't do it again or I'd be fired. So I was working and eventually I had to throw up in the back bathroom, and a manager saw it. So he told me to go home. Next day I clock in I'm told that I got fired because of this. By the same manager that told me to go home. It was stupid, but I'm glad it happened cuz Perkins is a fantastic place to work
Me too! I was trying to adjust to working nights and started throwing up. So I went to the bathroom to deal with it. Oh, my god, they acted like I was being dishonest or whatever…”where is she” blah blah blah. I explained to them that I was feeling nauseous…doesn’t matter.

A large corporation like walmart prob doesn't appreciate being spoken of negatively true or not. Being the larger partner they could use that weight to pressure his smaller company to give him the boot. If he's speaking of having people under him I'd assume he's middle management not a basic grunt level lacky. Being an employee means projecting an image in line with company values. You don't have to agree with everything your company says or does but you have to gauge whether it's worth the repercussions to speak out. Wally World is trying to compete with Amazon, but doing so on the cheap. Slavery...er, I mean capitalism...is great.
But I love capitalism becomes it means anyone can make it happen in America, it’s just a matter of finding the right opportunities and the right people.

I was in a similar situation! I worked as a merchandiser (contract with Walmart), the management was a real mess, witnessed a person quit. Employees didn't want to be there, managers were jerks, definitely a negative vibe all around! Happy I'm not in that business anymore.
Ohh the Midwest, were Walmart thrives... I wish we had a Publix
Illegal to work off the clock..8nsurance liability.
Walmart will push extra undone work on hard working employees from what the lazy south employees wouldn’t do backwards as L
We don’t wear uniforms people can wear jeans and a t shirt if they want and vests are free for associates to have that are given to them by the company
Been true since 2016.
As 8 month employee Walmart is garbage as a hard worker, intelligent component employee. It’s a garbage place to work.
ReedLegend I hope you never do that again. Never work for free especially to billion dollar corporation
I had worked at a sams club and that exact same thing happened to me no joke i thought it was my bad luck. Walked bout out to grab my badge was 30 secs late and fired. My replacement was hired and interviewed that day.
Screw em you will find or had found something better
Be happy you got out.
