This really is a lovely performance, which is what I'd expect from George Weldon. Unsentimental and really "stringy". And a good recording too. Thank you.
@victoriawillardx You've got to listen to Tchaikovsky Serenade op. 48, the 1st and 3rd movement mostly have some absolutely beautiful passeges for the cellos :) Im not a cello, I'm playing first violin, but its hard not to take note of their passage.
We do not have any great incurable romantics like Elgar anymore and I would like to think, people will understand the true meaning of my statement, even in this secular and a**e about face world we now live in.
Elgar and Weldon would also be a bit bemused by the lack of a singer. The music certainly does have a cantabile song like feel to it so I see what you mean.
Graceful. Poignant. Sophisticated.
The antithesis of modern music.
It's not a song. Nobody sings. There are no words. It's a piece of music for string orchestra.
This will forever be one of my favorite TH-cam videos. I hope you never take it down!
I won't.
Really pretty music played beautifully! Thanks for posting.
Lovely, utterly unpretentious piece.More than a hint of "Nimrod" in the slow movt. Fitting tribute to George Weldon.
The quintessential recording. 2nd movement is a box of Kleenex. GORGEOUS!

easily brings a tear to my eye
beautiful! Thank you!
The second movement is heartwarming.
Yay, I'm playing this in my orchestra atm! Love it! Thx 4 upload!
This i such a beautiful song!! I am playing this in my high school orchestra and I'm so excited! I love my part (cello) in this piece
three nerdy remarks in a row! Congratulaltions!
Love the opening movement, being in 6/8, the "Allegro piacevole" .
Bella !!
this is soooooooooooo goooooooood..
0:00 1st mvt.
3:23 2nd mvt.
10:28 3rd mvt.
Naive question:
Why so many string serenades in E, e, E flat, etc.?
What is it about the key of e?

3:25 to 10:27 - seven minutes in heaven.
Violas own this piece! >:)
It seems to be an American youth culture thing. They call everything a song. Most peculiar.
@Idiotopunk Thats because Violas Rock!!

Ha, that's cute.

viola sounds too heavy and loud and it makes bad harmony of strings. when viola has solo line they think it too serius and important.
