Very nice work! I expected to see you cover a cheap Tele copy, but the fact that you made your own guitar raises this to another level. Please invest in a better push-stick for your circular saw though! I like the idea of the leather belt around the outside of the guitar, both to cover the join and provide a bit of grip when the guitar's on your knee.
It's all in the jeans, it's a beautiful looking guitar Danny! Have you ever considered working with epoxy on one of your instrument builds? I admire your skills and craftsmanship. Have a blessed New Year!
I have! Technically I used epoxy on this build to adhere the belt binding. It was just a 5 minute epoxy. But I thought about doing a flood coat on top of the jeans in this guitar but I ended up just leaving it because I wanted it to feel soft. And also, epoxy is expensive.
Yes, epoxy is expensive. A think a thick coat of Elmer's glue and a spray can or two of clear coat would fit my budget. I'm looking forward to Twenty24 and watching you build more git-fiddles in the future.
Great build! The belt binding was a nice touch. At first I thought you had laminated the denim into a micarta but guess not. It involves quite a lot of resin, and I've never wanted to make it bad enough to deal with that much gunk. Still, maybe an idea for a future build? Looking forward to your next video.
Hey Danny, just wanted to revisit the video because it inspired me to make my own Denim-Caster. It’s my first guitar build and I def wouldn’t have done it without this video! Thanks for being an inspiration… and yes, I am now down a pair of jeans 😂
Buying definitely but another one that one is definitely art you should keep that’s a generational guitar right there you are legit Picasso with guitar creating
This is really cool but is it going to get super dirty / sweaty if you gig with it? Wondering if there's any final finish step that might help with that. The belt binding is a really fun touch, by the way.
I think the most durable way to do it would be to coat it in epoxy but I wanted it to still feel soft like jeans. Some people never wash their jeans. So maybe it will be fine!
How come this didn't get a coat of Epoxy over the denim and then sand and buff to high gloss? Your builds are fun to watch 👍 , just finished watching the pallet guitar, and the minimalist headstock really took me by surprise, I have to say 🙃 After watching that attention to detail for 20 minutes 😎 It's a beautiful guitar, more like a pro build for a junior player. You could have said it's walnut, I'd believe it. # Fender Beltmaster
May I ask how much it usually cost for the hardware and where do you procure it. I always end up around $300 cdn when I price the parts. For that price, I feel more relunctant to play around and try my first build. Maybe there is a cheaper way to get parts.
I use completely reclaimed lumber so that takes a big chunk off the price. I get old headboards or other furniture for free and find some pretty decent hardwoods that way. I usually just use amazon for hardware. I have spent as little as $30 on hardware but, when I am building something just for fun and for me, I usually spend around $90-150 on electronics, cheap tuners, fretwire etc.
I didn’t see any reason to. Most telecaster guitar bodies are just solid slabs. Those aren’t cross grained. I guess I could have though. I’m just not really worried about the strength of such a thick piece of laminated lumber!
you gotta play Blue Jean Blues by ZZ Top with a guitar like that
The Pantscaster
This is probably the most sensible choice.
Nice work Danny! This is just the kind of stuff I am interested in! Keep up the good work...
I guess I better get started on a new project!
the Denimcaster
Excellent craftsmanship
Lookie.......Danny’s playin’ Blue Jean Blues! 🎼🎸 Great workmanship sir!
No way, dude! This guitar you made does _not_ exist in most guitar stores!
That was the goal!
One of the coolest guitars I have seen! I really dig the look
Thanks! I wasn't sure how it would turn out when I started but I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks! Its cheaper to build it myself and more fun this way! Check out my other builds on my channel if you're into that sort of thing.
You should make a leather pickguard for this. That would be sweet.
I agree, that was a missed opportunity. Oh well, maybe I'll make another one someday!
what a sick guitar

Great idea! Well executed! I look forward to the next one! Happy holidays!
Thanks! You too!
You should edit sample of guitar over video of it being made👍👍
Nice work
Congrats on a Beautiful Good looking Axe❤🎉❤
you should call it the jeanocaster
Billy Jeans
Another inspiring build. Love your work Danny
Thanks!
such a cool idea guitar my man, it really came out great!! Wish I had the talent to build my own
You probably could build your own! I’m not that talented, just stubborn. Make a lot of mistakes and learn as you go.
Very inspiring! This really demonstrate how you don't need to go fancy on the wood to get a good sounding Tele.
That's the coolest built I 've ever seen 🤩👍
@@BobbySpiessVienna thank you! I really loved this one! I almost wish I hadn’t sold it.
bro made the jitar
Bro sure did

This should be a “pantscaster” as a play on “partscaster”
that is so cool, you take simple tools and make cool stuff.awsome!!!
Thank you! That’s the goal! Cool stuff.

Thanks for this comment! I’m glad you saw something you wanted to try for yourself! I hope it turned out great.
Literally insane crafting ability! Do you sell these guitars or do you keep them ?
Both! You interested in buying this one? Or are you interested in commissioning one?
Buying definitely but another one that one is definitely art you should keep that’s a generational guitar right there you are legit Picasso with guitar creating
m @louisvazquez7052 I would be happy to talk about building you a guitar if you're interested. Send me an email: danny.lewis.guitar@gmail.com
could be the Strauss-Caster..... as in Levi Strauss
I knew I should have used Levis instead of eddie bauer.
the legendary jelecaster o-0

Give it a good spray with Scotchguard haha!
Jean Genie, of course.
I was thinking “pants-caster”
Damn! Beat me to it
Very cool guitar indeed
Thank you, friend.
I'm here from your CL ad and my jaw is on the floor. You are a master builder!
The Pantscaster. Trouser Snake. ES-501. The Juitar. Crotch Rocket. Parker Fly. The Zipper Ripper. The Thigh Burner. Canadian Tuxedo. Cabron Pantalon.
I like the Zipper Ripper. That's a new one!
But is it machine washable?
Dry clean only.
How come this didn't get a coat of Epoxy over the denim and then sand and buff to high gloss?

Tonewood snobs' heads will explode with this one

denimcaster
This guitar is perfect for my Dad. lol
'Levi' (or maybe just '401' : ).
My friend has an acoustic like this
Really? I’d love to know how that sounds.
@dannylewisguitars yeah! We have no idea the brand because the previous owner even covered the neck in denim, but it sounds great.
coooooooooooooool!!!🎉
Thaaaaaanks
Denimcaster? TeleJeans? or... Fender Jeanious? ;) great idea that of the belt!
Thanks! The belt was definitely a better idea than I usually come up with. My favorite part.
Bravo...😊😊😊
Not the jitar
Very imaginative ! Just make sure it won't shrink when you put it in the washing machine 😃😃
'Wood in my Pants' ?
Call it Billie Jean, of course.
This might be my favorite suggestion yet.
I dig it!
Im going to buy some cheap jeans today and put some pants on my tele!
Everyone should put pants on all their guitars!
telefitjean
Call it: MFP/Mister Fancy Pants
That's some crazy shit but I love it better watch out Fender mite cop your idea
Thank you! If Fender wants to take that idea and run with it, I'm on board with that plan.
That would be dope if you did one with a flannel shirt
The belt literally made me go”Oh that’s awesome “ out loud, by myself 😅
I was so proud of that idea.
Call it Billie Jeans...
Nice. Good call!
Rhythm & Blue- Jeans.
Nice.
The tricky thing is not to wear jeans when playing this guitar 😂
Yeah I wore jeans when I made the video and I almost re-recorded!
the jeanocaster
Curious why the three plys of wood weren't cross grained?
I didn’t see any reason to. Most telecaster guitar bodies are just solid slabs. Those aren’t cross grained.
I guess I could have though. I’m just not really worried about the strength of such a thick piece of laminated lumber!
Thanks alot... now im gonna have no jeans and 100 denim guitars now HAHAHAHAHA
You're welcome.
telejeans
jeatar
khakis would have given you a more sophisticated sound.
@@dwayneconaway1733 I was thinking for the next one I could cover it in flannel and only play nirvana on it.
@@dannylewisguitars ha ha ha LOVE IT!!!!
what a bad idea the bridge sitting on the fabric will soud like the shit that was in these pants, please spare us of these evil ideas.
