My god dude, you are awesome. At first I thought it was going to be just another video about Outer Wilds, but then you caught me with your way of telling the story, your story with this game, just as it happened to me at the beginning. I didn't understand anything and I thought several times about giving it up because of frustration, but then I got hooked, the game impacted me so much that today I have to be watching gameplays to try to feel that same sensation of the first time I played it. Thanks infinite for your beautiful video, it defines perfectly what Outer Wilds represents

Amazing video. I'm lucky in that many friends have played Outer Wilds based on recommendation and let me reexperience the game through a livestream. I have not yet found something that impacted me as greatly as Outer Wilds, but Disco Elysium and Rain World came close.

I played outer wilds on release. Immediately my favourite game. Spent months playing it after school. After I thought explored every nook and cranny went on to play artful escape (good game) came back to outer wilds and still had more to find. It is truly a great game. DLC is based as well
You really put into words the feeling I had when I first played it as well. The gameplay clips you chose and the editing work was stellar AND the first few clips immediately after the spoiler warning were perfect. Really nice work dude.
Outer Wilds is genuinely the only game I can constantly enjoy vicariously. It's just such a magical experience that anything reminding me of it can't help but put a grin on my face, while stirring up the weird and wonderful cocktail of emotions only OW can deliver. Best game of all time, hands down.
Oh boy I reached the end now and I'm almost tearing up. This game obviously holds a special place in my heart, and I know that it is about letting go, but I've always had a hard time doing just that. Nowadays I can't help but associate this game with the intention I had to have my ex play through it, after having watched her play and stumble through the Bioshock trilogy. She was never a gamer, but she was passionate about learning and playing them, and I was so happy to be able to share my passion with her. Other than that, she really was the girl I had always dreamt of, and I genuinely would have wanted nothing more than keep loving her for the rest of my life...but then she broke up with me, and I'm still lost and agonizing to this day. Hopefully one day I will finally learn to let go, and if I do, I will always cast my mind back to this game. Sorry for the ramble, now I'm actually crying
@@clvr51 Damn dude :( You don't have to be sorry one bit. I was about choked up reading this. Letting go and moving on can be such a hard thing to do. Much like the game, you probably didn't want your relationship to end. I imagine you have so many things you wish you could tell her, so many things that you wanted to do different, but as difficult as it may sound and be, you got to find the will to move on. Heartbreak is a tough part in life. It's going to continue to be rough but it won't be for long believe me. It takes sadness to know what happiness is. There are plenty of other people in life to move on to. Maybe they won't be exactly like her, but you could find someone that makes you just as happy, or even happier than your ex. I say this having experienced heartbreak. Once you find a way to get back up and out there, you're going to be a better person than you were, believe me man :) Also, who’s to say you can’t show Outer Wilds to someone else? :) You can save it for the next special person in life! I really hope you stay strong man, and I hope it all goes well for you from here on out. I appreciate your "ramble" dude.

⭐Fantastic video dude this deserves way more attention then its got cant wait to see more from you Great vid⭐ Also since you really like outer wilds i would heavily recommend "Return of the Obra Dinn" it to is a beautiful game with unique graphics and an amazing mystery and just like Outer Wilds it to can only ever be played once
Wow this video was not what I expected at all. My first run thru the game was amazing & you captivated my thoughts precisely & put it into a video. Amazing. I love you Omer
Didn't see anyone else comment on it, so I'll be the one. Very cool cinematography with those space flight shots, cleverly parsing out a few spoilers or presenting them out of context so as not to spoil it too badly.
Thank you!!! I spent hours recording gameplay, trying to find the best shots. I made this video with my friends in mind, as I didn't want to spoil the whole experience for them. I'm glad you noticed that!
Upon completing this game and the adventures there in, I cried. I cried hard. Not just because it was over, but because i knew i would never experience it for the first time. That id never forget the impact it had on me, and for that reason I lost the first experience. But i will not regret it.
It’s sad. When I had reached the end, I felt like I took the whole game for granted. It was only until the end when I realized that I was playing a truly special game. I didn’t want it to be over, but it had to end, and for that, I teared up.
But for real, outer wilds drastically changed the way that I game. I used to spends hundreds of hours grinding away at menial tasks in the same two or threes games to reach empty goals that didnt really matter. They didn't give me any new experiences or any real sense of achievement. It was momentary satisfaction of checking something off the list to move onto the next shallow goal. I was almost too bored to start playing new games, so I just stuck with games that I knew, and used them simply as a means to pass time and kill boredom The year that I played outer wilds, I played more games than I ever had before, specifically Indie games. Outer Wilds was such a phenomenal and impactful experience that now I crave new experiences. I can't stop playing new games, looking for new discoveries and hoping that one day, I'll stumble across a random game and give it a chance, just like I did with Outer Wilds. It truly reignited my joy and passion for gaming, and I really can't wait to see what Mobius Digital does next
@@my_username_was_already_taken Haha thank you!!! That's exactly the experience I had with Outer Wilds! I've started to play games from all genres, trying new things out of my comfort zone. The Indie genre is so vast and filled with such creativity that there's bound to be another game out there that gives you that same amazing feeling. Gone are the days of playing old games again for the third or fourth time. Thanks for taking the time to comment! Glad you enjoyed the video!
As an overly relaxed Hearthian might say about nostalgia It's the kind of thing that makes you glad you stopped and smelled the pine trees along the way. Don't forget to live life in the present. Or in your future, you won't have a past to remember.
I don't know if you will read this, but try rainworld, it is an absolute masterpiece, its incredibly hard but I have never felt more imersed in such a vast game before, it took me over a 100 hours to complete. And similar to Outer Wilds you start by knowing nothing and wondering around until you find purpose. Anyways great video! I hope your channel grows! Hopefully you get the chance to try Rainworld, but you sold me on trying Outer Wilds haha!
You have lots of potential to make it as a content creator tbf, all your lacking is good pacing, more vibrant word choices, maybe some better lighting in the clips you use as everything feels unsaturated and bland. Other than that this is excellent!
Strictly Mediocre, Im touched. You made an amazing video and I know out of all the comments you have read, You probably won't consider playing a game I suggest. But regardless , It seems clear that you love this game and since the story telling and the atmosphere played a huge role for you. I'd like for you to play this game called, Before your eyes. If Outer Wilds gave you this perspective, Before your eyes will ad that extra cherry ontop. I'm seriously hoping you do play Before Your Eyes. Thank you for hitting me in the emotions in like 5 minutes of the video. It might give you the perspective that it is the same game as Outer Wilds in a different skin , But ya , just.. its great. Bye , until we meet again. Fair fellow.
You sold me on Before Your Eyes. Just bought the game and plan on playing it after I release my next video this week. Thank you for the recommendation, and thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video as much as you did. Until then!
I want to play this, my buddy told me a year or two ago to play it. But I’m someone who beat Witcher 3 once and now will play it up until the end because I hate goodbyes
Like I said on my lil steam review: "The only negative thing I could say is that due to it's biggest strength being a player-knowledge-based metroid-vania, it doesn't have much replay value aside from nostalgia trips or achievement hunting. But then again it made me more at peace with the end, so it balances that out."
For how small your channel is, this is a staggering level of quality. It is a bit rough around the edges but its still so well made. This hit home more than any video ive watched lately.

I see where I can improve in my next video, and I will. Thanks for watching!
I felt the same way you did, the last game i remember truly enjoying were Zelda breath of the wild, and in the same year i played Dragon Age Inquisition, both became two of my favorite game of all time, but after that I've kept playing mostly because i was bored, without really enjoying what i was doing, till 5 month ago when I discovered Pizza Tower and Baldurs Gate 3, and for the first time after many years I felt like gaming was something that still belong to me.
I guess if I think like that then fair but no not everyone is gonna just sweep the old things that they like since birth or growing up away... I mean seeing how some games ocme out today for new gens in the modern view I can't really blame anybody for going back to thwir old games that brought them so much joy in the past etc.
Yeah I don’t blame people for going back to older games when many of the games being released today aren’t worth playing. But there are also a lot of games that are. Many of them being Indie titles. I hear my friends constantly talk about how there are no good games, yet when I recommend them some lesser known titles, they’ll rather play what they’re used to and prefer to not take chances.
I loved this video. It pretty much sums up my experience with the game. From my boredom and numbness when playing videogames, to craving the feelings i used to feel when playing minecraft and games alike, to the circumstances of me finding outer wilds in the first place. Wonderful. On a very different note, I've spent a few hours looking for the song you used at 14:44. I would love if you could tell me what you used for this, the whole remix feels special. Edit: I found it, it's reprise haha
Thank you! It’s definitely a feeling I’ve felt for awhile, and when I played outer wilds that’s when it truly hit me. I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m glad you found the song haha
The whiplash I received after watching this beautiful, profound video only to see the ending screen with a thumbnail for “AMOGUS 18+ (IMPOSTER GONE S*XUAL??!!)” 😂
Just tried to like this video a second time after finishing the final part and it’s funny: I can’t like this video ever again, but that’s okay, because I can go on knowing that that’s all I can do in this life - live it once and move on; I will never watch this video ever again but I will certainly try to recreate it one day - trying to tell our story through the Outer Wilds is what life is all about. It’s crazy out there. Want to hear my adventure through life? Well, it all started just before I fell into a geyser - tumbling to the bottom… spotting some writing and then… dying. Game Over. And then… on my second play-through, after hearing music coming from the planets above, I got a space suit and immediately started wondering if it worked underwater… What did that writing say? And the answer to that question… may surprise you. I mean - only if you’ve never played the game or learned second hand already… When will I finish writing this comment? The answer to that question… won’t surprise you. (Never: the second answer is.) (Unrelated, older, sentient beings: first answer is.) (Where did They come from?) (Why am I still using brackets?) (Who knows!?)
Nah, I’m perfectly fine with replaying the same games for the last 10+ years until game developers make a new game I enjoy playing for another 10+ years
I used to play the same games most of the time before and stuff started getting boring, I took a recommendation from two friends who were quite different people but both said "play hollow knight". I did and I found out I love playing different genres more then I love playing one, I've tried a variety of different games now and I must say that just trying something new to me was one of my best decisions to do with gaming I've ever made
That was a great essay and an excellent point. Nostalgia is nice to live in, but is it really living, doing the same things over and over? On that note, I must ask: have you played the DLC of Outer Wilds? If you haven't, I strongly recommend you do as it's equally brilliant as the main game, but also reinforces the points you make in the essay (without spoiling anything)
Thank you! And yes! I've played the DLC. I actually plan on making a follow up essay in the future revolving it. Not gonna say much, but the DLC really hit me hard.

Play Tunic. It's another game that you can only meaningfully experience once, so avoid spoilers. The message of the game is not as deep as in OW, but it has a unique way of evoking feelings that I could only get playing an adventure game in the 90s as a kid, which is just not possible by playing those old games, maybe not even the ones that I didn't have the opportunity to play back then.

Thank you so much for the praise! I'm glad you enjoyed it and found something to take out from the video
Ok playing the ahem *ending cutscene* music at the thesis statement at the end was actually a really clever choice if you know what it plays over
I wrote a college essay on this game and it started pretty similar to the way you described waking up at the campfire. I think that’s pretty cool.
I didn't plagiarize I swear
Could you link it?
@@cbandit7715 I wrote it in a google doc under my student email and unfortunately my college deletes student emails shortly after graduation. I would totally love to share it though even if from what I remember from writing it the pacing of the essay was awful due to abrupt cuts to quotes and perspective shifts.
Thanks for asking though!
wow, loving your videos, incredible flow and style - and of course a great message as well. Looking forward to seeing how you grow!
Wow thank you!!! :)
Thank you!!!! This game truly caught me off guard. Never did I expect to have such an experience with this game. Thank you so much for taking time to watch and give your thoughts! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah man, remember that LION statue? XD
Holy shit man
The whole video is good but my god, the edited piece in the middle is amazing. You sure know how to edit
If you uploaded that part on its own it would be the best trailer for the game
Thank you!!!! The edit in the middle of was my favorite bit to put together for the video. I’m glad it stuck out to you!
This Video really Made my day. Thank you very much!
I’m glad! Thank you for watching!!! ❤️
another amazing outer wilds video essay, nice work!
WOW! I watched your Outer Wilds tribute a few days ago and loved it! THANK YOU!
I seriously hope you plan to make more content like this because my goodness this was surprisingly incredible. Absolutely wonderful storytelling mixed with genuinely stunning and evocative editing that does more than get the job done. I wish the best for your growth because this is one of the finest video essays I have seen!
Thank you!!! I don’t plan on stopping :) I’m just getting started. Turn on notifications because I hope to have my next video out very soon! Thank you for the kind words. Glad you were able to enjoy it!
MY GOD, your storytelling is amazing! love your video
Amazing video.
I'm lucky in that many friends have played Outer Wilds based on recommendation and let me reexperience the game through a livestream.
I have not yet found something that impacted me as greatly as Outer Wilds, but Disco Elysium and Rain World came close.
Lucky you! It's such a difficult game to recommend. You can't really say much to persuade someone other than "trust me bro."
*End of game spoilers warning*
“I learned a lot, by the end of
everything. The past is past, now, but that’s… you know, that’s okay! It’s never really gone completely. The future is always built on the past, even if we won’t get to see it. Still, it’s um, time for something new, now.”-Riebeck
Well this seems like an oddly fitting video for the day I get started on the process of potentially going double, triple, if not more further than I've ever gone from home even on holidays .. to live there for a semester
Thank you man! That whole montage segment after the warning was such a blast to put together. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Once you find a way to get back up and out there, you're going to be a better person than you were, believe me man :)
Also, who’s to say you can’t show Outer Wilds to someone else? :) You can save it for the next special person in life!
I really hope you stay strong man, and I hope it all goes well for you from here on out. I appreciate your "ramble" dude.
This video is fantastic!
Your storytelling along with the Musik....I had tears in my eyes at the end.
This was amazing and I did not expect it to be so inspirational! You've truly woken me up
Absolutely amazing video essay. Thank you for putting the time and effort to make something like this
Awesome video dude!! It almost made me tear up at some point, I wasn't ready for the feels. This video gives so much motivation that I really need right now, thank you. I wish you all the best, you deserve it! Take care!
Thank you!!! I'm happy to hear that! Thank you for watching!
wow man, what an awesome video! Great work with cinematic montages and story telling. Really, really impressive!
Thank you!!!!
Excellent video man, the sound design and clip selection is perfect
I envy everyone who has a chance to play the game for the first time. And I've always enjoyed videos where people share their experience. Thanks!
❤️
⭐Fantastic video dude this deserves way more attention then its got cant wait to see more from you
Great vid⭐
Also since you really like outer wilds i would heavily recommend "Return of the Obra Dinn" it to is a beautiful game with unique graphics and an amazing mystery and just like Outer Wilds it to can only ever be played once
Thanks for watching! Means a lot!
I took a peek at it and it certainly looks interesting! I'll have to pick it up for sure
Year two/three of destiny 2 are probably those nostalgic memories of video games for me but impossible to replay those lol. Felt like magic back then.
Watching videos like this is the only way i can re experience this amazing game, thanks man.
Thanks for watching :)
I was not prepared, both for Outer Wilds, or this video, to hit me like a truck. Well done.
you my guy have the most beautiful interpretation of outer wilds. Banger of a video, don't give up on youtube.
Thank you!!!! I won’t!
The editing and sound design in this video is amazing, really underrated
You got yourself a new subscriber :D
LETS GOOOO!!!
Thank you :)
Absolutely love the video! Your editing and cinematic shots were great
but that "yessir" bit is going to stick with me, that shit was so funny
But for real, outer wilds drastically changed the way that I game. I used to spends hundreds of hours grinding away at menial tasks in the same two or threes games to reach empty goals that didnt really matter. They didn't give me any new experiences or any real sense of achievement. It was momentary satisfaction of checking something off the list to move onto the next shallow goal. I was almost too bored to start playing new games, so I just stuck with games that I knew, and used them simply as a means to pass time and kill boredom
The year that I played outer wilds, I played more games than I ever had before, specifically Indie games.
And then they release a DLC with more 30-40 hours worth of playing. ^^
i only got about 8 hours out of the dlc
As an overly relaxed Hearthian might say about nostalgia
It's the kind of thing that makes you glad you stopped and smelled the pine trees along the way.
You won't regret it! I'll be sure to check out Rainworld as well. The enemies look really cool!
stellar video, brought back echoes of my experiences venturing through these outer wilds
Thank you! I'm glad it did :)
Only tiny channel like these can pump out a masterpiece of a video out of absolute nowhere. May the algorithm bless you !
Thank you!!!!
amazing editing
Thank you!
You have lots of potential to make it as a content creator tbf, all your lacking is good pacing, more vibrant word choices, maybe some better lighting in the clips you use as everything feels unsaturated and bland. Other than that this is excellent!
I'll be sure to work on that in the next video. Thanks for taking time to watch and give fair criticism! Means a lot!
Outer wilds. The game, the great, the legend.
Thank you for this. Needed to hear it today
I'm glad! Thanks for watching!
Fallout New Vegas Player on their 318th playthrough: "Wdym you can't play it again?"
Yeeeesh I think I’ve replayed that game 4 times now. Such a great game.
A damn beautiful video and I'm looking forward to what you make next.
Thank you! Turn on notifications! I've already begun work on the next video essay :)
@@StrictlyMediocre Will do man, I'll be there when it pops up🤘
Strictly Mediocre, Im touched.
You should definitely give it a shot!
The ending to the game is handled so well. I won't say how. But it's one I don't think I'll ever forget.
no way you called the Nomai lions
yes 🫠
Like I said on my lil steam review:
"The only negative thing I could say is that due to it's biggest strength being a player-knowledge-based metroid-vania, it doesn't have much replay value aside from nostalgia trips or achievement hunting.
But then again it made me more at peace with the end, so it balances that out."
I dont play outer wilds again; i force my friends to play it and i watch them with glee :D
This has me full on sobbing rn. But its not necessarily sadness, Ive been pretty stressed lately and this is the "its gonna be okay" I needed
For how small your channel is, this is a staggering level of quality. It is a bit rough around the edges but its still so well made. This hit home more than any video ive watched lately.
@@atomicchicken4453 I'm glad this video was able to help you during your stressful times. Life can definitely be overwhelming. Trust me, I've been there. It's not easy. But it won't always be like that. There's always a light at the end of tunnel, so stay strong and keep moving forward :)
Thank you for the praise though! I see where I can improve in my next video, and I will. Thanks for watching!
absolute banger of a video, love it!
Also having a guilty pleasure for some games if you can even call it that makes the nostalgia thing break and not matter anymore.
@@StrictlyMediocre Yeah, probably because they just don't like what they see in some of those indie games unfortunately.
Minecraft is love, Minecraft is life, Minecraft is timeless
It really is!
That imposter did go kinda crazy tho 😳
Just tried to like this video a second time after finishing the final part and it’s funny: I can’t like this video ever again, but that’s okay, because I can go on knowing that that’s all I can do in this life - live it once and move on; I will never watch this video ever again but I will certainly try to recreate it one day - trying to tell our story through the Outer Wilds is what life is all about. It’s crazy out there. Want to hear my adventure through life? Well, it all started just before I fell into a geyser - tumbling to the bottom… spotting some writing and then… dying.
Game Over.
And then… on my second play-through, after hearing music coming from the planets above, I got a space suit and immediately started wondering if it worked underwater…
What did that writing say?
And the answer to that question… may surprise you.
I mean - only if you’ve never played the game or learned second hand already…
When will I finish writing this comment?
The answer to that question… won’t surprise you.
(Never: the second answer is.)
(Unrelated, older, sentient beings: first answer is.)
(Where did They come from?)
(Why am I still using brackets?)
(Who knows!?)
I love living
❤
Awesome video! (but the nomai arent lions lol)
I did and I found out I love playing different genres more then I love playing one, I've tried a variety of different games now and I must say that just trying something new to me was one of my best decisions to do with gaming I've ever made
damn i didn't expect such a banger of an edit
That was a great essay and an excellent point. Nostalgia is nice to live in, but is it really living, doing the same things over and over?
On that note, I must ask: have you played the DLC of Outer Wilds? If you haven't, I strongly recommend you do as it's equally brilliant as the main game, but also reinforces the points you make in the essay (without spoiling anything)
Thank you! And yes! I've played the DLC. I actually plan on making a follow up essay in the future revolving it. Not gonna say much, but the DLC really hit me hard.
I got goosebumps ands chills watching this video. Ty
Now this is was simply beautiful
Be curious on your journey, friends.
Late to the party, got OW on sale… and man what a game.
It’s never too late to get into it ❤️
Brilliant
you cant tell me what to do
Amazing video essay honestly almost
Made me tear up😂
Ayyy thank you! 😆
Did you say the statue of a lion? excuse me 😅
Yea what was up with that?
I was trying to recapture what I was thinking in my head when I started the game lol
@@StrictlyMediocre Made me laugh, I don't think I heard anyone calling it a Lion before.
I found it so funny, that you just casually called it a lion and didn't address it again after.
I really enjoyed this video :)!
@@crazedaze7256 I just found it really funny :) I can definitely see how someone can think of a lion when seeing that statue
thats... masterpiece.
When I was in primary school a gpod quarter of my wakimg hours was spent on my old-ass ipad playing Minecraft pocket edition. I remembered the update that let you pick up items in creative mode, and the update that brought the end to the game.
After a while I slowed down. I found other things to do.
More recently I found a channel that had this really interesting style with a fascinating creator.
I think he had autism, like me.
After looking back and watching the backlog of content he had, and sieving some of the collaborative content he'd done, I noticed a recent video where he said he was unwell.
The October of my first grade
My friend was hospitalized wrh brain cancer.
He died December of the following year.
I never really play Minecraft anymore.
I guess I was just pissed, with the Microsoft port and all.
I really am a soulless heel
Should 100% play the dlc for outer wilds, just as good as the base game
Call for OMAH
I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation, and thanks for watching!
@@StrictlyMediocre you're welcome! ah and if you ever get stuck, just take a better look at the manual, the answer is almost certainly there
Nahh.. imma do my own thing -miles morales (and now also my quote)
pls go play sable, it will fill the hole in your heart
The game looks beautiful! I'll have to add it to my list! Thanks!
I go back to this hane all the time for nostalgia lol. Even though ive already best it i like to go back and do different thing jsut because i lvoe it abd can relive the emotions.
This was awesome
Some constructive criticism: music was too loud compared to the voiceover
I realized this as soon as I uploaded. Sorry about that! I'll work on that in the next video. Thanks for watching!
