    I'm making my way through your videos and have to say this is probably my favorite so far. I like the recent addition of the date of the cruise and showing the location on Martin's phone in this episode was cool. Showing the contrast between this time and when you went through the same stretch in warmer weather is a great idea. I also like seeing your time inside the boat (I had been thinking that I would like to see more of that). Seeing the rain pouring down outside ( in a previous video) while ya'll were inside was very cozy. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos.

    I’m not surprised you’re iced in. It’s so cold at the moment, but soon enough it will be back to warm and rainy - the cold days are so beautiful that it’s worth it…and I’m sure you’re keeping warm indoors.
    Absolutely love this video - the new intro is great and I’m so glad you’ve kept the same music, which is so relaxing. There is no reason at all for you to explain your videos - they show what life is actually like on the water, the high winds, pouring rain, and beautiful views. Just keep on being you - that’s what we all love. Xx

      That’s exactly it Sheryl, although we were cold and the weather was dull and dreary, we knew that when we got moored up there would be some nice hot soup and a warm stove to sit by. Cruising in the winter months are really quite serene and peaceful, often we are the only people around or moving, it’s lovely. Hi to you both. I'm new to all this and finding you is brilliant, following your adventures. Many years ago l lived in Braunston and l loved to wander the marina and watch the locks at the Admiral Nelson. To Martin sorry, l shouldn't have laughed at your hat loss, but maybe you haven't heard of Stampede Strings? Used by horse riders in America and Australia, sold on Amazon and will do the job keeping your hat safe.

      Hi Pam, lovely to have you with us! We had a meal at the Admiral Nelson just before Christmas, lovely place! Lol, re Martin’s hat 🤭 we hadn’t heard of Stampede Strings, we thought of using a shoelace, but thank you for the tip, we’ll look at getting those once we’re near an Amazon Hub! Thank you! xx

      On second thoughts the Amazon delivery is from Australia, grossly overpriced because of delivery. Etsy do them too, so you copy the idea and then make your own with cord...easy. I did when I was dude ranching in Arizona, but mine would be too pretty for Martin or I would send it to you.

    Could you please explain what do you mean "electrocuting for Zander", what is that big water equipment for thanks? Love your vlogs, thank you for sharing 😊

    • @JulieandMartinonRIB
      @JulieandMartinonRIB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jenny, no problem. They put electric pulses into the water to stun all the fish, which then float to the top, so they can retrieve and take away the Zander. The fish are only momentarily disabled and the rest all swim off unscathed and healthy, so no harm done. The Zander are then taken away and more than likely given to local restaurants for their menus. Zander is not a native fish to this country and are an invasive species, so need to be taken out of the rivers and canals to protect our aquatic wildlife. If fishermen catch a Zander, they are not supposed to put it back in either. Hope this makes sense. Thank you so much for your lovely compliment, so nice to have you come along on our journeys xx

    I am looking at a canal map and there is a huge amount of canals it seems that you can navigate, do you have a plan to try and do all of them or do you just a favourite area.

      Hi Malcolm, yes, our plan is to go North at the end of June. We are currently moored at Crick as we have just had the Crick boat show, then we’ll be moving down towards the Grand Union for a couple of weeks, then hope to see the historic boat festival in June, then we’ll be heading through Birmingham and making our way north. Thanks Malcolm xx

    How is the cost of the fuel boat ,to say, the marina. Is it the same, or higher or lower cost .

      Hi John, it varies to be honest, mostly they are a little bit dearer, just a couple of pence per litre, but then saying that, some marinas that don’t get a lot of trade, their prices can be sky high, we always call ahead to check we’re ok to come in first and ask the price then.
      In winter especially, we always try and use the fuel boats, to keep them going, and they can be a lifesaver if you get frozen in! Thanks John! xx

    Your boat is very quiet, is it electric?

      Hi, thank you for the compliment, our boat is not electric, but has a Beta Marine 43 diesel engine accompanied by a hospital silencer which takes a lot of the sound away. Thank you! xx

      Hi Bette, we don’t have a hood/pram cover on the boat, we are a ‘trad stern’ so they don’t have hoods. We do ok with a brolly if it’s not too windy. Hope you enjoyed this weeks video, thanks Bette, we really love to get your comments xx
