My father and I were part of the initial cruise from tarlton into Preston docks (pre all the development works) to make the case for the ribble link. The docks were derelict and access limited. But we did it, and the result was this link. Very proud of my father and the team of people that worked to make this happen.

(i bet that made no sense?! lol)

I started looking for travel and blogs that had anything to do with being afloat. I came came across your Travels by Narrowboat. I started watching series 1 on Amazon last week. It's addictive. So relaxing to get absorbed in nature and Aslan chugging. We did Whitchurch to Llangollen on holiday when I was a child and I will never forget the aqueduct or the tunnel afterwards! Thank you for some really enjoyable TV.
I watch many narrow boat travels. You know all those ones. This one has to be the best yet. You have gone where they haven't, yet. Why don't they????? I miss you on TH-cam.
Good grief. I’m not surprised you swore! That was scary. Thank goodness you arrived safe and sound. When I saw the wash I thought about the people who cross, or try to cross, the English Channel, they must be crazy. Thanks for taking the time to film the journey when there were clearly other challenges to concentrate on. I really enjoyed it.
I used to sail dinghies on the River Lune out of Glasson Dock, 1 river up from the Ribble, and the river currents plus the tidal currents make it all very tricky. Add to that the fact that the route is not navigable at low water so you have time constraints unless you want to sit on a mudbank. Right side up if you're lucky, having been swept downstream because when the tide is running it's likely to be over 6 knots! Makes it a serious trip quite hazardous and well done.
Another great video sir looks like some fairly nerve racking moments for sure. It is great that you and your ex are still friends enough for her to come help you like she has.
This is a particularly interesting video. I have been inspired by your vlogs as well as 'cruising the cut' and 'Robbie Cumming'. My boat is called 'Astland' because it is named after the part of the Ribble you navigated. The previous owners hail from this area. Currently my 'Astland' is based in Northwich. Thanks again for another brilliant video.
Hmm, I didn't know there was a brook with that name in the UK. It's spelled and pronounced right and everything! :D Maybe I had some ancestors who passed through on their way from Norway to here in Minnesota, USA. Great video, thanks for sharing it here on youtube.
The surname is almost unknown in the British censuses. Vick or Wick often suggests a farm or community but according to Wiki. when found on the coast it can have a Norse origin, meaning a bay or inlet. Have a look at the Viking history in the Wirral peninsula, just a few miles down the coast (opposite Liverpool). Perhaps your ancestor lived here well over a thousand years ago!

It was especially interesting to me being a once member of the "Ribble Link Trust" campaign to create that new canal. I started looking for travel and blogs that had anything to do with being afloat. I came came across your Travels by Narrowboat. I got drawn in for sure and like to say thank you for showing that as long as there's a spark a passion can be found. Going to enjoy catching up with your travels and beyond.

I started watching series 1 on Amazon last week. It's addictive. So relaxing to get absorbed in nature and Aslan chugging. We did Whitchurch to Llangollen on holiday when I was a child and I will never forget the aqueduct or the tunnel afterwards! Thank you for some really enjoyable TV.

Good grief. I’m not surprised you swore! That was scary. Thank goodness you arrived safe and sound. When I saw the wash I thought about the people who cross, or try to cross, the English Channel, they must be crazy. Thanks for taking the time to film the journey when there were clearly other challenges to concentrate on. I really enjoyed it.

I used to sail dinghies on the River Lune out of Glasson Dock, 1 river up from the Ribble, and the river currents plus the tidal currents make it all very tricky. Add to that the fact that the route is not navigable at low water so you have time constraints unless you want to sit on a mudbank. Right side up if you're lucky, having been swept downstream because when the tide is running it's likely to be over 6 knots! Makes it a serious trip quite hazardous and well done.

This is a particularly interesting video. I have been inspired by your vlogs as well as 'cruising the cut' and 'Robbie Cumming'. My boat is called 'Astland' because it is named after the part of the Ribble you navigated. The previous owners hail from this area. Currently my 'Astland' is based in Northwich. Thanks again for another brilliant video.

Hmm, I didn't know there was a brook with that name in the UK. It's spelled and pronounced right and everything! :D Maybe I had some ancestors who passed through on their way from Norway to here in Minnesota, USA. Great video, thanks for sharing it here on youtube.
The surname is almost unknown in the British censuses. Vick or Wick often suggests a farm or community but according to Wiki. when found on the coast it can have a Norse origin, meaning a bay or inlet. Have a look at the Viking history in the Wirral peninsula, just a few miles down the coast (opposite Liverpool). Perhaps your ancestor lived here well over a thousand years ago!

A really enjoyable video, and I look forard to watching more of your journeys on our wonderful canal system. It was especially interesting to me being a once member of the "Ribble Link Trust" campaign to create that new canal. Never been a boat owner myself, but it brought back good memories of those times and I'm happy to see it being used. Well done lad!

Your team and the tow boat fellows were fantastic! I'll say though, that I found the Tidal Trent crossing to be terrifyingly exhilarating.
