Got my CDL last December.
What helped me out allot was playing "American Trucking Simulator" on my laptop using a xbox controller.
I practiced my backing on that game 2 months before i was supposed to start school.. And as soon as we got behind the wheel, the instructors thought i already had experience 😂
ALSO, you DONT need to do OTR your first year like they tell you.. You can work local at CoreMark, US Foods, Sysco, McLane, etc.. (food/resturaunt logistics companies)... Its HARD WORK, but you get to go home everynight and places like CoreMark offer 4 days 10 hour shifts, 3 days off + they Teamster Union.... They will train you AS LONG as youre willing to put in the work 💪💪
If you wanna make BIG MONEY and dont mind being on the road for a week.. hit up companies like "Andrus". No touch freight, nice new trucks, and really good pay. The homie made 6 figures his first year and was home EVERY weekend. Good luck 🙏
That’s prolly the best most slept on thang to do. Tired of these physical labor jobs. I wish I would have thought about a simulator too lol. That was smart.
I’m going over road bro but I’ll definitely keep these companies in mind for when I decide to switch over to the local side of it. I’m trying to run it up with that OTR life. I’m in the middle of rebuilding. Gotta make a couple sacrifices for the future. Thanks for taking the time out your day to put me up on game . That’s straight mortification💯🏆🙏🏾
