    Great work, you just proved that RE motorcycles can be served at home.

    Excellent work! I like to use a very light coat of spray adhesive on the top surface of the gasket. It prevents the “paranoia” of the gasket slipping out of the groove. You are correct. NO sealant is needed on this gasket. The people who have problems are the ones who leave the gasket attached to the head.
    I got nervous about the 12 nm torque spec as many people have broken the bolt at that setting. Snug is good enough 😁

      Thanks very much, I think I might back off on that torque wrench until I've tested it somewhere, it does seem very tight and heads are very expensive! I haven't broken anything for a while and don't want to start now 😊 Thanks for your comments and support

    Hello mate, well it’s 3.30am and I’ve just got to the end of a 3 day binge of your videos on the Meteor.
    I haven’t even got a Royal Enfield,,,, but I usually spend a year or so psyching myself up for any major new purchase. (Uncle Stu. Is another bloody enabler ! )
    So, thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry, I may have forgotten to “like” some of them, but I did subscribe!

    Watching having my Wee Mark special breakfast in a bun😂.
    Glyn, you got patience’s of a saint. Very informative and a great watch. I defo have not got the balls to attempt this.
    Probably watch again tonight in bed. Bumble will require this mid way through next year, I guess. Half considering looking into lowering her and a bit front and rear, so I get my feet more planted. (Cause am a short arse)
    Loving your channel Glyn, much respect for ya. Keep up the good work.
    Oh I meet up with Bruce, from Coastrider Scotland. He is a pure Gent.😊

      Hey Mark, I've been at it again today and stopped for my usual Greggs first. They don't ask what sauce I have any more and they know I have the cream on my latte so may be going there a bit too much..... Thanks very much for your support and comments, have you tried the low seat on your bike yet? You could always hacksaw the top off eh 😊 Bruce does some great rides, he's a great film maker too

      Thanks Jon, I think you might need a break now! Hopefully editing the next part tonight, so that might appear in the middle of the night. What bike are you planning next? Thanks for your support and comment 👍

      @@GlynOC Hi Glyn, I currently have a Fantic Caballero Flat Track 500, which is a cracking little bike, light weight and makes about 40hp. Slightly retro looking.
      I am 72 (How the hell did that happen!??) And I wanted something much lighter than my previous GS 800.
      I really like the look of the Classic 350 but fear I'd miss the performance, also, I am 6'4", so legroom is always a concern for me. I actually started watching your videos to look at how the seat bracket could be modified to move it up and back a couple of inches; shouldn't be rocket surgery by the looks of it...
      I have had up to 3 bikes at a time, but can't justify, or afford, more than one now.
      PS. Cool bit of slide on your Dobro ! Guitars are another thing I need to cut back on... It's those bloody enablers on the forums!

      I really like those Fantics, they feel so light like dirt bikes of old. I almost went for one instead of my KTM 390 Adventure. 40-48hp is a sweet spot for motorcycle power, light bikes but enough power to dominare cars up to 80mph and give some excitement. I think the Classic 350 seat would be very easy to adjust backwards with a basic bracket setup. I've been successful in not buying any new guitars for a while but they're never safe haha Thanks for watching, Glyn @@longjonwhite

    Now then; it's good practice to soak your new filter in clean engine oil for fifteen minutes before you install it. Prevents oil feed starvation on first start up.

      You're absolutely right, I'm on my way back to do some more now and am gonna take it out and do it properly. Too much car-induced laziness I think!

    I’ve seen around 4 vids on valve adjustment and each person used sealant on that half circle part of the gasket…..
    I hope it doesn’t leak🤞
    That way when I do mine, I’ll do the same as you did 👍
    Keep up the great vids

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      haha me too. It's not in the manual so am guessing they started having a few problems and thought they'd needed it. Also, the old gasket was a really hard rubber, almost like a hard plastic, and the new one is a nice soft rubber so possibly it was a workaround because the gaskets weren't up to it. I did almost open a tube of it but then.....

    Thanks, you made the valve adjustment seem so straightforward. You had me at the feeler gauges being classed as a "dangerous weapon". My back brakes need a good clean up!

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess it could be turned into a deadly weapon if you sharpened the feelers and it does fold up, maybe I could have a go at that next 😱 Did the brakes today so they're in the next vid 👍

    15w 50 oil for j series engine i believe and there is a main drain plug that gets another 100mm of oil out,but love the valve adjustment.
    Keep up the good videos coming.

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks David! Halfords had every conceivable permutation of hot and cold viscosity but 10W50 was the nearest they had and I was too emotionally committed by then 😀

    • @davidrawlings3460
      @davidrawlings3460 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @GlynOC yes 15w/50 is an unusual one to get hold off to be sure, but it is available. I have heard customers taking there bikes back to dealers to have the correct oil put in due to warranty issues. I know your bike isn't gonna be covered by any warranty now lol. But always best to use what's recommended by manufacturer. Did you find the proper drain bung?

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      haha I can just imagine trying to take it in for a warranty claim. I did the drain plug too and a small amount came out, I'm guessing it's from the oil filter chamber above. I have to get rid of that oil now, I hope the local recycling place has a container for it 👍

    • @davidrawlings3460
      @davidrawlings3460 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GlynOC yeah makes sense the small amount of oil coming from the oil filter housing and its directly below. Seems strange the Enfields use a wide band oil 'w' maybe it's because there made in India which is gonna be warmer.The interceptor is 10w50 but I know of people using 10w40 because it's so much cheaper and easier to buy.

    Another job done, I pre soak the filter but the RE official video doesn’t so I wouldn’t worry to much. Did you use 10 w rather than the 15 w ? Looking forward to seeing you getting out there on it. Keep going Glyn your doing great 👍

    • @GlynOC
      @GlynOC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ahh yes I did eagle eyes! After traipsing all the way to Halfords (motor supply shop) they had every permutation of upper and lower number except 15W50 and I didn't want to go home empty handed. A look around the net gave the opinion that 10W50 was negligibly different to 15W50 so went with that 🫶 Thanks for watching again, Glyn
