It's obvious that Mr. Gordon is the best camera reviewer on the web. Good job! Keep up the good work!
I still take this camera out a few times a year. It’s always a struggle with the very limited dynamic range, but sharpness with something like the old 25mm pancake is very good. Make sure it’s a decently sunny day, don’t go past ISO400, and you’ll have a camera that’s satisfying to use (that fat DSLR mirror flap sound!) and will last you all day on one battery.
Thanks for finding this old video of mine, one of my very early ones.
Hi Tony, the body is identical to the E-410 apart from s slight change in the grip. The score was different becuase the E-420 is compared to 2008 budget DSLRs.
No, none of the Olympus DSLRs offer video yet. If they did, I'd have mentioned it in the video here!
ThX Gordon ,it's long waiting and It's worth to wait .
Thanks again !.
@cameralabs Thank you, im recently bought a DSLR (first one) and your tutorials are great, i live in méxico so i cant help you buying accesories in your page, but im spreading the word for those who can do it in the borderline.
I've been told the E-520 has the same sensor as the E-420, but until I get hold of one to review, I can't say for sure!
Only you can answer that! If you shake a lot or take photos under low light without a tripod a lot, then yes, I'd say it is a limitation.
Nice review. So what should be my first SLR, Olympus E-420, Sony A200 or Canon 400D? Help!!
No, it's just for a focusing check, but you'd get the same result if you took the photo and just cropped it heavily.
i'm confused..so there is no vibration reduction at all ?? does the lens that comes with this in a kit have it built in ?
This is still an highly enjoyable camera.
I have it, but wow is it slow compared to modern cameras! LOL
BUT with a 35mm prime lens, I get amazing macro shots! :)
Hello Gordon I love your videos very much. I will like to ask you which SLR camera would you recomend me if you are a beginner in this field i love photography very much and my budget is between 400-to-600 Dollars thank you in advance
can i use a wireless flash with this camera or the e500, e520?
Check out the verdict pages for each of those reviews at cameralabs . com!
hi gordon if i buy this camera can i make Movie capture with sound??
Hi im 13 and ive got my grand dads old pentax k1000 but since the cost of film and to get them printed out is getting quite exspensive i want a dslr my uncle has a sony alpha 330 and i love it im asking my mum for one on my 14th birthday what should i get the maxium price i would say is £300 but i will still need lenses. Thanks.
can someone please tell me if this records hd video, or video in general?
Do you reckon more megapixels makes a significant difference? My current camera has 10.2 whereas this is 10.0
sweet, i'm thinking of getting this. you guys think it's a good start off camera? i'v been wanting to get an slr, but don't have to much money (i'd have to save up) any ideas anyone?
:)
How to connet computer in usb cable plz hlp me
Hi Gordon, Wich card de you reccomend for this camera?, XD m+ or Compact Flash, i havent find any info about wich one its better.
Thx in advice.
An amazing video, thanks!
Thanks, glad you're still finding it useful after all these years! PS - I will be making a retro review of the E400 on my dinobytes channel soon
hi . whats the best settings for shooting lightning ? you can PM me , thanks alot !
I love this camera, just because of the 420.
does it take time lapse photos?
My next camera!
does anybody know how to remove (yes, remove!) the annoying strap lugs from the camera body? Can i unscrew them??
No, the body doesn't have it, and the supplied lens doesn't have it. If you want it, you'll need to buy a different lens with stabilisation. Or more sensibly, buy newer the E-620 which has it built-in.
Pro review. Thanks!
Excellent review. Thanks.
what does it fim in
Will do... Thanks Gordie
Need to do a dinobytes vid on this.
I'm concentrating on models I've not yet made a video about. I do have the first in this series, the E400, waiting for Dinobytes though!
nice review
@chino011189 CF - xD always seems slow in comparison.
solid review, like normal.
@luisramonmanzano Check the best buys section at cameralabs . com.
thats a lot of information to take in!!!
OMG IMMAH BUY ONE!
Ha ha! Nah, these are older hard disk or motherboards that I use in the demos...
@dholland21
Yes, I got this one and is a good camera. I like it better than Canon or Nikon as it has better colors and the lens are sharper, you get very good pictures with this.
Plus you have CF support, which is the best card, pixel mapping, best dust cleaning system and a very complex menu that will help you get into photography on the long run. All this without braking the bank.
@fbspin no :)
I was hoping for a less radical solution...
2022, just bought one on ebay
Nice! How much did you pay?
@@cameralabs $35 with 14-45, great shape. Can't seem to resist these older cameras. My carry around camera is Olympus Stylus 1. Love your reviews...
@@Lizerator nice one! Have you seen my vintage Dino Bytes channel?
@@cameralabs Yes, whenever you post something. I am almost 80 years old so I have been through lots of different kinds of cameras. First started about 1949 when my dad built a darkroom in our house.
Good day to advertise - makes the stoners go out and buy an Olympus 420
haha, I love how he points out the functionality of the blue labeling for people who are color-blind...colorblind photographer?? sounds like an oxymoron...sweet camera tho!
Yay 1st comment. Great review as always!
