    Whether you're a Tesla owner experiencing this issue or just interested in learning more about how to maintain your car's interior, this video is for you. Don't let a puckered leather steering wheel get in the way of your driving experience - put in a service request and see if Tesla will replace it!

    Very interesting. Gives me good information on how to replace the steering while I have. I can't go to Tesla service because the car I have is a rental from Hertz and they want to charge me quite a bit to get it replaced. I rather just do it myself so that way I can save a bit money for it. Back to OEM condition that is. I also have to do a leather seat replacement. I don't know if I'm going to be able to do that or not. Hurst doesn't want me to do it, but the problem is I don't want to be charged extra after the fact. I'd rather done now and pay it now to get it fixed

      The whole Hertz rental thing is strange in the fact that they won’t do warranty work and want to charge you. Have you reached out to Tesla yourself? If the car is under warranty they should still fix it.
      When we took a Lyft in Vegas we got a Tesla and the guy driving had a peeling steering wheel and it was a 2022. He said Hertz would not fix it either. But the car is still under warranty, so Tesla should fix it no matter who is driving it as long as you have the app to make a service appointment. I could be wrong. Hertz is in the wrong for charging you to fix it.

      @@HeyWeirdos the car is not under warranty for the cousmentc stuff. I drive a 2021 model 3 with 80k miles and the warranty is up to 50k or 4 years so I will have to pay out of pocket to get the car back to OEM the stearing wheel is not expstive so i can do that my self but i have issues with the vineyl black seat for the driver side where the meteral is delamnating and making the seat look ugly and its sticky where my cloths stick to it.

      @@toshihitsu1989 oh man that’s a bummer about your seat and being out of warranty. I’m curious, do you live in hot weather?
      We had our drivers seat replaced under warranty and they did it pretty quick. Not for your issue though but for a wrinkle in our seat and rubbing on console.

    You mentioned model 3 hatchback. Isn’t that what the Y is?

    • @HeyWeirdos
      @HeyWeirdos  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it is. However, I’d still like to have a 3 with a hatch 😁. The SX&Y all have larger trunk access.

    This has happened to my 2021 model 3. First time on 2022 and Tesla replaced it for free. Second time, a month ago. I submitted a service request like the first time. They replied that you used aggressive detergent and that's why it happened again. I said that I do not usually clean the steering wheel and they replied, okay so that's why it happened because you don't clean your steering wheel and whatever hand lotions and sanitizer that you use, is the cause of the issue. I said that I don't use any of those and they replied we don't replace it for free for the second time. If you want it to be replaced, you should pay $1250!
    So seems we are witnessing the double standard here. Could you please let me know which service shop did the job for you and replaced the steering wheel 3 times under warranty?

      Hello @shas606 thanks for your comment. Sounds like you were getting the run around. Are you beyond your warranty at this point? Can you argue that this is a defect? I’d push it with them. No harm in that.
      All of my visits for this issue was done at my home which was very convenient.

      I don't see why they wouldn't do it, its defective. You would think it would help the learn what's happening so they can make a change. I am very interested in seeing how this works out for you. Please keep me posted. Thanks for stopping by our channel.
