A brave and correct decision IMO to kick out DMA. For the watchdog it may be possible to program a timer to generate the required interrupt, or not? Waiting for the next video with great interest.
I think the watch dog could use a timer but would have to be wired to an interrupt line which is not an issue for a breadboard PC, but not easy for standard PCB based PC. Not going to worry about it too much unless the rest of it is working. I hope my 'bravery' is not short lived! Dave
