The social man wishes fellowship with other men...I am wondering whether this construction of fellowship in Augustine reflects the egalitarian spirit of some early Christian thinking. I think this was something that Marx and other socialist writers drew up later in positing an authentic human self which is actualised when harmonised with the human selves of others.
