    Hey Guys! A lot of you guys have been asking me which FNP program I would recommend for all of you that have been looking and researching. So here is my opinion on both schools and the one I would recommend based off my experience. This is not meant to be a negative vlog. I am just sharing my experiences. Please research the school, speak with their advisors, and make the best choice for you!

    I am still in the beginning process of getting my NP. I was married to a man who had his Master’s Degree and he wouldn’t allow me to get mine. Excuse-We can’t afford it. Like most things that was his answer. He knew from day 1 my goal was to be a NP. After 20 years I started to become myself again. Every day I chip away the negativity that he caused. I started to go to Chamberlain. The first few weeks of the semester I was going through a divorce. So I felt that at the time it wasn’t appropriate for me. I also found Walden University and thought that looked like a good program for me. I have several friends that went and love Chamberlain. And that’s why I thought I would try it. After dropping the program, I went through some big changes. Including moving back to my hometown in Indiana while COVID was thriving in this city. I finally took some time and visited my sister and her husband asked me how school was going. My mouth dropped open. He knew that was an important dream of mine. And he thought I was already in the program at Chamberlain. It meant the world to me. After getting some of my ducks in a row for Walden University, I shared with him the progress that had begun with that little question. Here it is my brother-in-law encouragement is sending me to meet my dream. That is something that my ex never ever did in the 20 years we were married. So far I agree with you. Walden University or Bust.Good luck. I hope you fulfilled your dream too.

      Use all that negativity and use it as fuel to prove him wrong, and also believe in yourself.

    Thank you !!! Thank You!!! for this video, it is so informative for nurses that are contemplating the difference between Chamberlain vs Walden. Yes, both of these universities are both "For Profit", that being said....I've met some great FNPs that graduated from both of these schools. I also know nurses that also received their MSN degrees as well, from these schools. In the end, you are the FNP YOU CHOOSE TO BE.... Schools prepare you for being knowledgeable and safe....Hence, pass boards.... The real world is your experience !!!! I wish you the best honey, BTW ... I'm a Dallas native/nurse ..Que Dios te Cuide (May God continue to take care of you)

    I just wanted to say thank you. I had the same experience at Chamberlain. I will never ever ever recommend Chamberlain. I was down to the last class, I was setting up my hotel room where I would be performing my physical exam assessment. ALL THAT MONEY. My advisor was a complete jerk. I wrote out my plan for the appeal and I like you did not do my due diligence on my probation. I had no idea. I had no idea of what questions to even ask. Fast forward, I wanted a couple of months for the appeal and the jerk said, "the board said your appeal will not be reinstated. I had to take pharm again and now I am about to graduate from Walden after 4 FOUR years for NP. I am so exhausted with school because it has taken 4 years and had to switch schools. Never again.

    I am glad to have found this vlog. I am start my acute care program with Walden. I started with GCU and went through the nightmares with the school’s ever-changing curriculum. I also got so burned out from the daily DQs and not so “actively participating” instructors. So, I decided to quit GCU and applied at Walden. Holly Bennett is amazing, she has assisted me from the day that I inquired. We communicate via email and phone calls and she responds right away. I have 5 classes from GCU that transferred over but 2 out of those classes (health assessment and health promotion) are under 1 class at Walden. So, I have a great feeling about Walden and I’m excited to start next month.

    Chamberlain will provide you preceptors. You may want to consider this. It is so hard to get preceptors; I'm in Walden and it literally took ONE YEAR to find someone, and the school still has to approve her. Unless you well connected with doctors and know you can get preceptors I would go to a school that assigns them. Chamberlain, however, requires you travel to anther state to get your clinical hours in.

    • @BriTheNP
      @BriTheNP  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually chamberlain never actually helped me find a preceptor unless that has changed. We had a clinical coordinator for our region that helped us facilitate this but that was it. My preceptors with Walden weren’t easier to find but I only had to sit out for one semester and that was due to Covid not because I didnt have one. All in all I just graduated from Walden last month

    I wanted to comment again. We had the SAME experience. I think they do this on purpose. This has happened to another friend of mine and she had a great advisor and she actually helped her write the appeal letter because she knew exactly what they (appeal board) was looking for. I have another comment but I will not say on this open forum, you would need to message me for that information. Thank you for all of your advise. I do understand about life and circumstances. I am married 32 years, we have a special needs son and I found someone to help us while I was at Chamberlain, I got a notary and mapped out a huge plan, and still nothing. Thank you again and I hope this helps others in their decision making.

    School (classes) is nothing. Getting the preceptors is where the stress comes in. Classes are hard enough but I spend tons of time finding preceptors and it is beyond horrible. No preceptors--NO graduation.

      They both look about the same. Chamberlain also has a fb group for each class, chamberlain also helps w clinicals placement if you made 3 attempts. I think relatively, they both are the same.
