Finally a video that provides an abundance of information. For us on the East Coast it takes a lot of planning to cross the country, wheel these trails and make it back. Knowing how long it actually takes to complete the trail is major info as well. GREAT VIDEO!
Well Mike I've been binging Fordyce vids in prep for this trail...My virgin run up Rubicon and then Fordyce is coming in Sept. This vid is very helpful in telling us which forks to take in the beginning of the trail and a couple miles in. I am so excited like a kid on Christmas eve. Can't wait.
Hi , this looks like a good trail , never got to do it . I like the Ruebacon ,Swomp lake lupe , and many of the trails closed in California , looks like you guys had a good time, on this trail .
This is an actual trail guide, instead of a highlight reel. Can you do Blue Lakes(Hwy 89, by Kirkwood Ski area. It's considered LWB, but challenging in places and beautiful. Tiger Lake would be a great review too.
I think I found the road that you are talking about. It goes by Upper and Lower Blue Lakes and looks like it connects between Hwy 88 and the Deer Valley Trail. Deer Valley is on my bucket list, so your suggestion would only make that trip even better! I'll see if I can work this into a run. Thanks! I can't find Tiger Lake. Where is that?
@@MrGreen0966 Thanks. I'm recollecting this from 30 years ago, but your description of Blue Lakes is spot on. Tiger Lakes was also in SLake Tahoe area. Bur I thought it was off 50. Supposedly there os a WW2 bomber crashed along the shore. When I went on the run I was a passenger. The trail is short, I want to say 5 miles, it was short wheelbase high clearance. We went in and out the same day, so I never saw the plane:( You could talk to someone from my old club, Espirit de 4, out of San Jose. The old timers can definitely help you find Blue Lakes and probably the other run too(I may be wrong on the name). I'll keep watching!
I can check with him, but I'm guessing that you most likely you want to know how he uses it with a top? He doesn't. He doesn't use the top when he uses the rack.
My jeep (99 TJ) is on 40's, the rest of the crew were on 37's. My jeep is the only one that didn't winch on WH1, but I am sure that the tan JKU could have made it, but the spotters weren't comfortable with him having to bump it at the very top. All of the jeeps did a great job on the winch hills after that though. Only one TJ winched on any of the winch hills after WH1.
Yes. It is a long route out that eventually reaches the town of Truckee. All easy dirt roads leading to paved roads. But it is a long drive, probably over 40 miles.
@A Jeep Named Mr Green My Ol Man and I love your videos and how informative they are Please keep them coming!!! What other ways out are there that are off road similar to Fordyce??? Also the 2 links you had listed in this video about the water levels and the sierra something could you possibly share them with me some how the safest way??? Thank You for the awesome videos and any help in advance it would be Greatly Appreciated!!! We are hoping for a trip out that way next year by the way we rock a ZJ a 95 to boot in the process of putting a Ford high pinion Dana 44 fully loaded in the front and a Dana 60 fully loaded in the rear!!! On the stock Dana 30 and 35 with 8 inch lift and right now 35 inch Falken Wildpeak MT's oh and open front and rear she's A Goat very few things she can't do!!! ZJ's Rock although for myself I would love to have a CJ 7 or a Scrambler(spelling???) !!!
It will probably be a bit before I can get up that way again. But, you are always welcome to come run with us! Check with the local clubs to see when they have runs on this trail. I'm sure that they would like to have you join them.
You all took the Jeep lines no one even took 1/2 on the hard line, needed a winch on 1, none of you even tried to pull the wall on three, and you basically took the bypass on the right on 5, this is why no Toyota people like waiting behind the jeepers
this video is so well done cheers

You are going to LOVE both trails! I'll try to join you if I can, but no promises yet. The two trails are very different and both very fun!
Great video and commentary!
Glad you liked it!

We had a great trip. Yeah, the trails are closed for winter, but they will open up again in August. Maybe we will see you there!
@@MrGreen0966 too old now ,but thanks
wow probably best trail review video I've seen. Very informative.

Very informative , great video.
Great video of a classic trail! Thanks for taking us along.
Great video love the history
Awesome video! Great information allowing us to figure out if we can do this trail after the Rubicon this year. Thanks!👍🏼
Great video! Narration reminded me of old Disney movies llike Charly the lonesome cougar.
Ha! Yeah, I guess that I watched too many of those Disney shows growing up.
Can you provide more info on the blue LJ. I would like to ask how he set up his cargo rack. Thanks
I can check with him, but I'm guessing that you most likely you want to know how he uses it with a top? He doesn't. He doesn't use the top when he uses the rack.
A Jeep Named MrGreen No. I rarely have my top on. Interested to see if he uses a roof top tent with that set up.
What size tires did everyone in the group have? Did the JKU or the 2drs do better on the winch hills?

I'm assuming there's an out once you arrive at the lake...?
Yes. It is a long route out that eventually reaches the town of Truckee. All easy dirt roads leading to paved roads. But it is a long drive, probably over 40 miles.
