Just like when I discovered the video of Steve playing John Barleycorn solo in front of his fireplace, I feel like it’s such a privilege to hear him do Low Spark solo on the piano like this. Thank you Steve Winwood for all your many years of contributing great music to my ears, and for letting us experience this classic in this stripped down fashion, so stark and beautiful.

Many years ago, when I was in university, I was given the hand me down stereo equipment from my father and brothers. Dynaco speakers and amp. Micro Seiki turntable. Teac tape deck. No one compares to the musical genius that is Steve Winwood. His extraordinary writing (listen to the prophetic lyrics of this song), his absolute mastery of many instruments, and that voice, combine into the rarest magic. His music has brilliantly punctuated my life for decades. This version of Low Spark of High Heeled Boys always takes my breath away. He makes it seem so effortless. Indeed, he is a genius.

Such a great musician. I probably listen to this song at least once a week. Traffic and Cream are definitely two of my favorite all time musical groups. Now if we could just get Stevie Winwood and Eric Clapton to do just one more tour.
I must have listened to the studio recording a thousand times. I like to pick a thematic element and concentrate on just that one thing. It was a real treat listening to Winwood just sticking to the keyboard and voice, not trying to pull other elements in. I don't know if it seems a bit thin to those who don't know the original, but this was perfect for me.

But to be able to still perform at this level into your 70 is amazing and inspirational
Unnecessarily hostile. It's not a competition, you can enjoy more than one genre of music.
..I understand that Mr Winwood also plays in his home Church. You are a wonderful inspiration, as I also play on the Praise Team. I saw Traffic at the Spectrum in Pennsylvania. Awesome my Brother, respectfully, Chuck...captivus brevis...Blessings...I so enjoy playing your music 2024 I am 73 young...
Memories of week end parties with Traffic playing in the background ALL NIGHT LONG! Oh I miss those days of a carefree life, barely surviving day by day and having a ball!
SW has such a distinguished and recognizable voice. 😊❤
I've had the good fortune of seeing Steve Winwood perform twice. Unforgettable. This solo piano performance was brilliant and mesmerizing. Thank you, Sir.
Not bound by any time restraints this song just floats in and out and only when it’s over is it actually over. The theme is pushed along verse after verse . Such a body of music is stunning...
You nailed it.
Right On!
Is it just me or does anyone else hear that Steve's voice never aged like most of our legendary musician voices have most have troubles hitting the pitch like they used to but Steve sure can still sing his songs great that's amazing he must have been drinking some pretty dam good water all his life
Many years ago, when I was in university, I was given the hand me down stereo equipment from my father and brothers. Dynaco speakers and amp. Micro Seiki turntable. Teac tape deck. And a honkin big Ampex reel to reel tape machine. And among the tapes was Traffic. Wow. I know it helped me get through. Thanks so much.
Well said.
Incredibly talented musician- Traffic, Blind Faith, SDG, Ginger’s AFG. Memorable music of my life.
Steve is one of the few that can utilize both sides of his brain it seems. Such a brilliant solo arrangement of one of TRAFFIC's signature tunes ! The camera work is awesome to match the tune .
We should all be thrilled to hear a new arrangement and seeing him so healthy and happy.
Traffic was one of the greatest bands of all time and their catalog should be acknowledged more often by others as well.
Steve Winwood is a gifted musician. Church organist, guitarist, pianist with a great voice as well as being an improviser and writer.
A rare talent…. Why he hasn’t been knighted by his country is a big shame!
Producer too. He did it all on the Arc of a Diver album. Considered one of the top 300 albums of all time. All from his home studio.
Magnificent.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Mr. Winwood. :)
A timeless classic song and no matter how many times I listen to it; it always sounds fresh and calming.
Wow!!!! Mr. Winwood, your voice is as beautiful as ever. Thank you for sharing with us 😊
Thanks for listening
I can’t get enough of this beautiful version of a great song.
Being an old guy myself... this is both sad and exquisitely beautiful at the same time ....
This song, this performance, this voice, this arrangement -- makes my heart sing.
Hello there. How are you doing today? Sorry for the inconvenience. Just want to make new friends 😊
Thank you for this fantastic gift ahead of Christmas, Steve! You've performed this masterpiece every time I've seen you live and it it never failed to bring down the house. This performance was truly special and I will always be grateful for your tremendous talents as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. Your music has been such an important part of my life and will always be. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family, sir.
Blimey he still got it!
Such a great musician. I probably listen to this song at least once a week. Traffic and Cream are definitely two of my favorite all time musical groups. Now if we could just get Stevie Winwood and Eric Clapton to do just one more tour.
The James Gang
They have done so many
@locadisa That is why I am asking for just "ONE MORE".
Was brilliant at 16 with Spencer Davis now after such a great legacy of work still sounds bloody awesome now. ❤❤❤
The amazing talent this guy has is astounding ❤️
This should be taught in all schools to aspiring musicians. All due respect and Thank you Mr. Winwood.
What a classic
Will be watching, Steve. Am really looking forward to watch and listen. Happy Thursday with big hugs ❤
…one of the best songs ever…
