I spend a week top water fishing for Murray cod on the Murray river. I've never seen the river so low and clear before. I cast barista tremors for large surface cod.
Hey mate I really like them for rivers particularly if there is good flow. I only use them with the paddler bib. As far as paddlers go you can run them the faster without them blowing out compared to other paddlers and I like to fish fast especially when river flow is fast and your casting between snags. Also they are one of the best casting lures on the market and go far and straight landing with fouling up less than most other surface paddlers which is important not all lures cast acutely and zig zag through the air. I also like that replacement bibs are easy to buy and attach because it doesn’t matter what paddler you use if you use it enough you will break it. And of course they get bites and having confidence in what your using is massive especially cod fishing. There a things that arnt my favourite about them. The hooks are really good but the split rings are average and straighten a bit on most my bigger fish. I actually don’t like the light and vibration thing as is gets stuck on sometimes and gives me the shits with the noise in the boat. I prefer them once they’re flat. Obviously they are expensive (I’m not sponsored in away way from them and have to by my own) at $100 a pop. In saying that if I’m going to spend a whole day casting a lure I’d rather have the one I want tied on as I think my day is worth more than the $100 to me. Most the ones I’ve totally broke were cast hard into trees so that was my fault. I’ve had one other than the one in this video break from “nothing” and it snapped its tow eyelet off but that was after like a years use and had already caught me a metery in the past so it was more so used to death. In all I will continue to use them I have confidence in them and think they are a pretty decent product. Thanks
Usually when I fish surface lures I like dark colours but in the case of paddler style like the tremor I don’t think it matters as they make a lot of commotion any way. Just remember when you pick a surface lure colour they only see the colour on the bottom of it anyway
I was considering buying some Tremors but after watching this ...Nope....they're definitely not worth the $100. Yah only paying for someone get rich scheme. I've also bought a Balista diver a few years ago....worked for approx an hour...then never worked again
Great video mate! Not suprised that balista crap fell apart, plenty of cheaper quality timber aussie made surface lures out there that stand well above balistas chinese crap
Yea mate I’ve used most all the surface paddlers that are targeted towards cod on the market. The balista tremor does have 2 features I like and that is the replacement bibs are easy to use as I’ve broken bibs on most all paddler types and the main thing I like is I can burn them really fast and they hold in and still work were most the others blow out at speed. But yea I’ve broken/had them brake on my fair share of them too
Thanks for the response Leigh much appreciated.
Those tremors arnt built very tough. Koolabung make good lures and replacement bibs that are easy to change.
I have some koolabungs as well. They are great lures. Thanks
Good episode on chasing the cod solid effort 🎣🤙🏻
Thanks mate
Enjoyed that thanks for the effort involved in bringing us along on this trip.
Thanks mate appreciate it
Awesome stuff, Done the drift in March and the water was superlow then. got a nice 80+ model, well done.
Thanks mate and awesome stuff you end too. Cheers
i love watching you vids in class
Cheers mate
Lovin the vids mate
Cheers mate
@@Leighmitchell001 those topwater bites are awesome and look rather addictive I wonder how those lures would work on other species
Yea it’s definitely the most addictive way to fish for them. I often think the same about them surface lures
Nice work Leigh. Can be hard work on a dropping river.
Yea I’ll definitely try and be more aware of if the river is dropping before I do another trip
Great vid Thankyou. Can I pls ask about what camera you use, what batteries you use.
Hey mate just use GoPros 11’s I think. Just have extra normal batteries and charge them on board the boat
@@Leighmitchell001 ok thanks mate. i use go pro 4 (lol) to film my vids but find i need to carry 3 batteries as they run out quick.
Did nt you hav issues on last years drift with tremors.. giv up on em mate theres way better paddlers out there..
Been thinking about purchasing a tremor, what’s your opinion on them Leigh?

First of hear that happen but u never no ballista might replace that
Yea mate not to fussed. These things happen when you fish a lot.
Have you a colour preference in your experiences Leigh.
Usually when I fish surface lures I like dark colours but in the case of paddler style like the tremor I don’t think it matters as they make a lot of commotion any way. Just remember when you pick a surface lure colour they only see the colour on the bottom of it anyway
Where about did you get stuck? How long ago was this
A couple of weeks ago on the Murray river
@Leighmitchell001 where about did you get stuck as I am floating a few wks?
