I'm surprised to hear you wouldnt want the extended universe stories to be touched actually. I've always felt like they have the blueprint for a fantastic timeline I grew up on reading and but they keep ignoring it. I wasnt aware of a 4hr Revenge of the Sith cut out there.. mayve one day when its tiome for its 30th anniversary we'll get a glimpse :)

Don’t even get me started on Ahsoka, Filoni has slowly been turning her into the most important and integral character in the entire saga. He has gone out of his way to retroactively make her intrinsically tied to every major character and event in the series, its literal fanfiction at this point. Seeing her “just offscreen” in various scenes has become a joke between my friends and I, it’s just gotten ridiculously out of hand.

@@ultraviolet540 Not only did she beat Darth Maul, she saved Rex, met Luke Skywalker, and somehow visited Anakin in some third dimension. Which, admittedly I was pretty excited to see Hayden as Anakin again, but being removed from the show for a year at this point, it kind of just doesn’t make sense. Not to say I’m upset it happened, but I feel had the series NOT had those few scenes with him, no one would have bat an eye at the show tbh. Definitely the highlight for me. But you are absolutely correct. Ahsoka has more clout that Rey at this point. I don’t think there’s an end in sight. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. Sadly, this behavior has ruined my opinion on her. Specifically when watching TCW, I can’t help but think what she will inevitably be transformed into: Dave Filoni’s obsession with a character he can’t let go of.

@@DarthTamarusFiloni has always been a problem, the only saving grace of the Clone Wars was the fact that he was not the only creative involved, which included George Lucas- who frequently shot down the insane ideas he had. George Lucas mandated that Ahsoka be killed off before Ep3, but Filoni went behind his back during the purchase of Lucasfilm, hence the major gap between projects. He needed to wait until he could do whatever he wanted, thus her shoehorned inclusion in so much media since, George would’ve never let it get to this point. As far as I’m concerned, TCW is Disney canon, I’ve always fundamentally disliked Filoni for retconning and steamrolling over the entire EU, and ruining characters such as Barriss Offee, Quinlan Vos, and in my opinion, Thrawn. Don’t get me started on what he’s done to Dathomiri lore 😂

@@ultraviolet540 I’ve yet to delve deeper into the CW multimedia project - Tartakovsky 2D, comics, much of TCW novels - but I’m starting to really get the idea that that is the superior version, not the 2008 CW version, thus aided and abetted by Dave Filoni.

@@DarthTamarusthe Multimedia project is amazing. It just sucks that Filoni has steamrolled and warped everything to fit his own narrative. The comics are kinda hard to get your hands on nowadays, but I’m sure there’s digital versions out there, highly recommend them. Sorry about the rant lol, just glad to see there’s people out there who remember the classic continuity. Your channel is gonna blow up soon, just keep making this quality content!

The "Mustafar fight is the best lightsaber duel ever!!!!" take, even among RotS detractors, has always bounced off me. Yes, this deeply personal, intense duel, this climactic moment between these two characters, their relationship, and their lives, should DEFINITELY try to focus on random environmental hazards like a banned Smash Bros. stage. Video game platforming! Errol Flynn swinging! These two people we're supposed to believe are hell-bent on stopping each other just taking a few seconds to flip their lightsabers around in the air! And of course, at the end of a trilogy where every saber fight features 30-foot spinning leaps, standing on a two-foot hill ends up being the unbeatable trump card.
Phenomenal music, and I'm happy for the people that it resonates with, but it was mid when I saw it in theaters in high school, and it's mid now.

Yeah, I agree with basically all of these takes, especially the ones regarding RotS which is sorta bafflingly overrated. The best of the PT, sure, but it’s a low bar. I do think Ewoks are a tad too twee for the tone of the other OT movies… not sure how to fix that other than give the movie a little more grit.
    Other hot takes:
-TPM shouldn’t be skipped in the Machete Order bc it gives necessary background to Anakin’s fall
-AotC is one of the more formally interesting films from a cinematic perspective and its homages to classic silent era and Golden Age cinema are interesting
-Empire Strikes Back is the best and almost perfect EXCEPT for the way Leia’s character is left by the wayside and bc Han doesn’t die
-RotJ is half of a good movie wrapped in a mediocre shell
-TFA would be one of the worst films if its shameless nostalgia wasn’t recontextualized by TLJ
-On that, TLJ is the second or third best film in the saga and the best since 1980
-TRoS is PT levels of schlock which is why it’s confusing that PT fans dislike it
-Rogue One is a mid-tier movie with sluggish pacing and forgettable characters
-Solo is the most “I actually kinda liked it!” movie ever, which makes it essentially unmemorable and uninteresting to talk about
-Mando S1, Andor, and Visions are the only truly good D+ shows. Bad Batch is okay. The other stuff is mediocre to downright awful
-TCW is a huge mixed bag with maybe a half dozen standout arcs; Rebels is more consistently good, but doesn’t often have as high of highs

Also, I’d like to propose what I call the Neo-Machete Order:
      7 - 4 - 5 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 6 - 8 - 9
Nesting within nesting. Great way to watch for longtime fans looking for a new way to watch and understand the series. Since the ST is primarily about identity and legacy, watching TFA as a Star Wars movie about Star Wars before going back and seeing the original Star Wars stories adds depth to TFA’s starry-eyed sentimentality. Likewise, upon Vader shattering Luke’s idea of the past, we revisit Anakin’s past to learn that this myth is plagued by rot from the beginning, yet understand the fallible human at its core. We return to RotJ to finish the OT, before TLJ picks up the (metaphorical) sword Luke tossed aside on the DSII only for him to toss it aside again in a new context, and one that challenges Rey as Luke was challenged by Vader’s revelation. We see Rey stand on her own two feet, not letting the past define her as Luke reconciles Man and Myth (in part, reconciling the heavy burden placed on himself and his father, that they both eventually overcome), and Kylo Ren is humiliated for trying to burn it all down.
Then IX ends things with a whimper haha. Jk, it’s a goofy schlocky climax tho.

@@tristanmoore9653 Very well said and I agree with a lot of your opinions. I really enjoy Rogue One, personally. I think it’s the best film Disney has made but you’re right, the characters were created to be martyrs so it’s not that engaging. I actually watched Solo again recently and it isn’t terrible. Definitely fun, you could say. It’s hard to say any of the Star Wars films are actually perfect. Obviously the OT is much more impressively objectively. ROTJ is actually my second favorite film but I do agree, it falls short compared to Empire but that third act, man. 🤯 Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. It means a lot. 🙌🏻🫡

I agree with you, the kenobi show is bad for many reasons but I think that some of the sences are actually some of the best Star Wars content, what ruined it for me was the whole inquisitor plot, I really hate the idea of the inquisitors, and the leia chase scene is also so cringe, but I think all the lightsaber fights are so cool and look a lot more realistic compared to any fights we got, except the original trilogy fights but I understand why people don’t like it, I just think it’s cool and it has a lot of emotion, and to me that what makes a good light saber fights, sorry for the long comment.

@@RedMan-z3r No need to apologize at all my friend. I think her all craved more dialogue between Anakin and Obi-Wan on Mustafar and somehow we cope with that by lumping in that scene from Kenobi in there 😂 I wish that were in a different context because it is touching but it shouldn’t have happened in between those EpIII & IV. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🫡🙌🏻
