It’s always fun and exciting to start something new. The last time I carried all my gear for a multi day hike was back in February 2020 when I was out hiking the overland track in Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺.
I was expecting today to be hard on the shoulders and legs! And it was - my pack weighs about 20kg (with food and water).
We decided not to smash it too hard today and instead take it gently.
My mum and dad very kindly drove us to the start line - which is always super helpful! We arrived around 10.20 and after taking some pics and videos we were off!! Getting through Holyhead wasn’t that pretty, but once we got to the other side. It was glorious, great beaches, stunning views, cliff top walks.
The day turned out great. Really happy with the distance covered and finding a great campsite (with wifi 😀)
We were both a little worried about the weather in the run up to the start and in the end it was glorious - perfect walking weather.
Sunshine, a nice breeze, plus incredible coastal views.
It felt so amazing to be back in nature and I could feel myself staring to relax more and more as the day went on!

I’m using @ciceronepress guidebook - #walking the Wales Coast Path 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Llwybr Arfordir Cymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 by Paddy Dillon. Be aware the guide book is for the whole of the Wales Coast Path, the Anglesey part starts following the Menai Bridge and then goes anti-clockwards around the island.
So the book is backwards if you start from Holyhead and go clockwise! You do have to think a little bit more. But all the info you need is included!

20kg! Well done! This path looks really lovely. I’ve not heard of it before. Laying down before putting the tent up is very dangerous! It’s so hard to get going again.

totally agree - don't stop moving before the tent is up - or it becomes so much harder!!!!!

I'm so excited for you!!!! The church/start/end point is so close to the ferry terminal. It's going to be a great adventure - I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather!!
