So The Body took his biggest pay day. And used it to created a Charity organization along with a Scholarship fund for an inner city school. I researched this, it’s true. WHY does no one ever talk about that? That proves without a shadow of a doubt that The Body is an amazing human being who deserves respect.
I came here today after watching his interview regarding Vance's dissing of Walz's military service. Great respect to Ventura. He's still a great speaker at 73
Jesse has led an interesting life. From being a navy seal, to being a member of a biker gang, to pro wrestler to actor to governor, it’s pretty amazing really, I agree with someone in the comments who said it would make a good biopic, I’d watch it. Love that guy.
It's real funny looking back and seeing Jesse tell McMahon he doesn't know what being in a ring is like, then McMahon had all those matches in his later years.
@@jeffreyriley8742 Yes!! Those were the days!! Remember those classic rubber wrestling action figures? I sold my whole collection for $250 a few years ago. Now I regret it, but at the time I downsized and needed the space
Jesse is the sort of guy, you end up bumping into at the pub on the way out, and then 5 hours later your still sitting in the pub drinking and listening to his stories.
Total studd, always was. Seen him several times, the man really shined as a ringside announcer. I was in stitches with the stuff he came up with off the cuff and most people never caught half of it.
Too darn cold for outdoor sports up there. Indoor sports like wrestling are perfect. Where I live football is huge and amateur wrestling is non-existent.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ventura in a bar in Baja México. We were watching a live band on the beach. We talked about his early wrestling days and he said the most pain he had ever been in, the most torture, was down in the “Dungeon”, getting trained by the infamous Stu Hart in Calgary, AB, Canada. He said he had been through a lot in his life, but that place was the worst, but he said it with so much respect for Stu as he learned so much from him. He is such an interesting human. He is what the USA needs right now.
@@curthennig9448 I don't remember the years but I assume it was around the time he was Wrestling in the 80's...... SO I just did a quick google search on Ventura/ Stu Hart/ Dungeon and there it was.... Jesse Ventura was the first to mention the infamous Stu Hart "Dungeon "publicly when he was a broadcaster for WWE. Why is this so hard for you to believe? Why wouldn't he be friends with the Hart family, he literally wrestled with Bret. By the way, I NEVER mentioned Stampede.
@@yupitfoyamut5988 Jesse was spotted by Eddie Sharkey at his gym back in 1974 and Eddie went on to train Jesse. Sharkey then called Bob Geigel down in KC and got him booked on some shows back in the spring of 1975. I'm not saying that Ventura never visited Stu's dungeon or got some wrestling pointers from him. I've just never heard that before. Usually if you get trained by the owner of a promotion, you would more than likely wrestle for said owner for a few months before moving on to another territory. Even though you never mentioned Stampede, I'm quite certain Ventura never wrestled for Stu at any point in his career.
I think they're second. Gorilla and Heenan are still the greatest. Everyone mocks Gorilla's play by play, but he could literally have the top two spots on greatest wrestling announcer duos ever, so he did something right.
I can hear how proud he is about the scholarship. He should be. Jesse the body!! You don’t realize how great we had it in wrestling in the 80-90s until we look back now.
Met him in Minnesota. He was right behind me in line waiting to vote. He tapped me on the shoulder,I turned around and my nose was even with his chest🤣🤣
One of the finest heels of all-time! I always admired the fact that he never turned into a baby face! Perfected the heel announcer role too. Very street smart and charismatic!
What a legend. I went to that SummerSlam event. I remember there were protesters outside the Target Center who were bothered because, "How dare Jesse try to earn money on the side while working as a public servant!" Back then I thought, "Fuck 'em," and I still feel that way to this day. I was nineteen years old and went with my mom. She paid! XD
I got mad respect for jesse... when he was governor, the nfl wanted the state to pay to build a stadium... He said, you have money...build it yourself! Details may be fuzzy, but hats off to him!
I have always like hi vibe since I first saw him wrestling. Hands down the best heel announcer of all time. I like the way he takes his feelings out of situations. He never hated Vince he just didn’t agree with him to say the least but still did the ref thing. And I feel like Vince gives back that same energy
Can someone clarify for me at about the 2:00 mark Ventura states that Vince (McMahon) "Tweeted" out congratulations to him for winning Governor of Minnesota. How is that possible as he served as Governor from 1999-2003 and Twitter wasn't invented until 2006?!?!
Took the proceeds and started a Foundation in the Inner City of Minneapolis and gives a 5K Scholarship to 1 student each year I salute this man, that is phenomenal!!! I was never a fan of Jesse as a Wrestler but best believe I am out of that ring.
I loved seeing how proud he was saying that at the very end. You could tell that was a genuine smile he had when thinking about helping young kids at his former high school.
For some reason when he said " You ain't got time to worry bout the build up" I was like say it say it!! Oh wait were not doing Predator lines..but i perked up anyway
Just like yesterday I remember how big WWF was. Mr. T, Cyndi Launer having Lou Albany in her video, and so many people would wait for the Sat night manias.
It makes sense that the ref gig was Jesse's biggest payday just because the business had exploded at that point and there was so much money to go around.
Jesse has always been about jesse, not saying it's bad, but that's him. He lives in an upscale neighborhood and doesn't want anyone to know where he lives, but has a Ventura Blvd sign at the end of his driveway.
As a young fan, I loved Jesse as a heel commentator. His "hatred" for faces, especially Hogan, was great. And how instead of saying Vince, he would always just call him "Mcmahon."
Jesse always called Vince McMan when he was a commentator. QUOTE: "Tell ya what McMan". suttle dig, humordeliberately miss=pronunciation. Thanks for the laughs Jesse.

Sanders/Ventura 2016. What could have been.
I came here today after watching his interview regarding Vance's dissing of Walz's military service. Great respect to Ventura. He's still a great speaker at 73
It also proves that Politicians don't don anything unless it's for big cash. $5,000 off that doesn't make a dent.
I don't believe Ventura is a socialist/communist.
Jesse is one of those people who can do anything & do it well. Navy SEAL, Wrestler, announcer, Governor, TV Personality, etc. What a Great Guy.
Don’t forget actor. “I ain’t got time to bleed” from Predator
And a great storyteller! I could listen to him tell stories all day. What a life.
UDT not a seal
Governor was an amazing run
But can he worship Jesus Christ well?
That's the only 1 that REALLY MATTERS and he cannot do it.
God > GREED
Morals > 💰🤑💸💲💶💵💰
Listening to Jesse talk soothes me. The realest commentator EVER!!!
I think he's a legend but those "s" pronunciations kill me everytime they whistle hahaha
Used to work out wioth him at "The Gym' in Plymouth, MN. He talked just as much in the gym!

Well NBC made a biopic but it wasn't good. Lol
Technically he was Not a Navy SEAL. Jessi was UDT. When he was in the Navy the two
were separate. SEALs had more training and saw more combat.
Almost unbelievable
@@tboman4128 not really true as the UDT was disbanded and became part SEALs so using today’s definition he was a SEAL

Jesse was blessed with a great speaking voice, would love to have seen him host a game show like PRICE IS RIGHT.
Ventura did host a game show in the past but idk, man.
I think Jesse's voice fits with broadcasting football or (of course) sports entertainment.
"Hey Jerry COME ON DOWN!!!... AND HURRY UP I AINT GOT TIME TO BLEED"!!
I could see him hosting The Price Is Right when Ox Baker got to be a contestant. "Hey! Ox Baker! What you doing here? I hope you lose!"🤣
When Jesse was a color commentator along with Vince McMahon wow it was so different and fantastic
They were great together!! 👍🏻
Totally agree with both of you, magic times!!! I liked Jesse and gorilla monsoon together as well, just brilliant !!

@@bustersales6921 But his personality and charisma was awesome. Most wrestlers are boring in the ring anyway.
