LeBron’s genetically gifted, combine that with discipline, mastery of your body. Bron’s playing weight throughout his career was 245 to 280 lbs but jumps higher than 95% of the guys in the NBA and never had a serious knee injury is crazy. All that because he knows how to run, jump, and land properly.

Going to the finals is one of the hardest things to do in basketball. And he did it 8 years in a row, 10 times in his career. Pretty good.

@@ishyameru6232 I think y'all are overestimating Melo. But I will say he could have avg a triple double way before Westbrook did if he actually cared about getting others involved. Dude was immensely talented and honestly underperformed. Not to diminish his career by any means. But he definitely should've been giving Bron a challenge as the best player in the league during their time.
Melo had an excellent career. He probably could have been slightly better had he had the discipline of Bron but Bron is a once in a generation talent. Melo didn't have Bron's gifts in terms of athleticism and passing ability.
I also think Melo would have been a lot better if he was a 3 point marksman instead of just a midrange savant. He always had a beautiful stroke but was never really deadly from downtown.
Being this extremely gifted, talented, and also hard working is an overwhelming combination. I mean just the fact that lebron in year 21 is shooting better than he ever has, shows his level of dedication
Why wouldn't his shooting improve with more years of experience? He's still athletic. Once that goes then you'll see the shooting go. Until then he'll just get better at shooting. When people start sucking at basketball, it isn't because they can't shoot anymore. They just can't run or jump as good anymore and can't get open shots off like they used to.
@@ebogar42 That's not how it works bud. No one's 3pt shooting has improved over time like that. Especially after 20+ years. In fact, it's the exact opposite. Most players as they reach their mid 30's steadily take and make less shots.
Lebron is no exception to father time either. It's just this season he has been shooting lights out so far. I'm pretty sure that will regress to his average by the end of the season. But my point is that even after decades, he clearly works his ass off every day to maintain his skills
It doesn't improve because they get less athletic. They can still hit shots, but can't get open like they used to or get their shots off like they once could. If they were just playing with average guys in a gym somewhere they would hit everything they shot probably. There comes a point after an injury usually that the game either goes too fast to keep up, or you just can't jump that high anymore. Sometimes it's just athletes aren't working that hard in the off season to stay in great shape and lose their athletic ability more and more each year. Lebron has always avoided a serious injury which has helped him extend his time in sports. He works hard too in the off season to keep up with the pace. He's still athletic and can get to the spots he's comfortable at to score. There are athletic 38 year olds. It's not a new thing. Not the first time they've dominated close to 40 and even well over 40. Jordan was still good at 38. Nolan Ryan was still a top pitcher at 46. George Forman was winning world heavyweight championships at 45. They all had something in common. No serious injuries their whole career. Nolan Ryan finally had his though and what ended his career. Him pitching still 100 MPH and doing what he was doing seemed impossible at the time it happened. He could have pitched until he was 50. Also someone who worked out daily and was in great shape.

And your comparison doesn't make sense. Jordan retired in his prime, and returned when he was almost 40. He could've gotten injured in the decade between that. And at this age he was a 20 minute a game bench player. Not an MVP level superstar who was shooting a career high percentage. And lebron did have a serious injury. He has had a nagging groin injury for years now. But conditioning and work ethic goes a long way, and again this is why lebron is so great - his discipline in maintaining that even after so many years. How does something you do not improve with more years of experience? Explain how that works. More practice equals getting better at something unless for some reason you can't do it because you get injured or slow down. I've played with guys in their 50s that can easily shoot and make just about everything they shoot. They don't have some great jump shot or super fast. Could they do that in the NBA? No they couldn't. It's a different speed. You wouldn't get the shots you can easily make when you got other slow guys on you. I've also played other sports like softball and guys older than 40 are jacking homeruns every damn time they get up. They can still throw hard and accurate. They just aren't that fast or can jump high. @@kuruptzZz

We have to acknowledge him having his Alfred to his Batman in his lovely wife Savannah. She has been clearing his runway to take off and land from the the start. Never nagged him to sacrifice his life's work for meaningless outings because she understood her role in his life. You can't have the discipline LeBron has without the support she gives him. Savannah is every man's dream and LeBron's pride and joy.
I saw about 3/4 of Kobe’s career…never saw MJ’s career…I remember the hype surrounding Lebron and I have moments in my life tied to some of his biggest career moments. I’ve seen the span of his entire career and my reaction is still the same…”this guy is different.” It’s amazing to see someone his age still starting in today’s game where like Melo mentioned you got to a certain age and you got shipped off to come off the bench. He’s my GOAT…I’m not throwing in shots at Kobe or MJ but LBJ is who I grew up watching and still watching.

I think of Bron kinda like Lewis Hamilton. Nico Rosberg was able to lock in for one year and beat him, he gave up everything he loved, was 100% focussed and with a little bit of luck he got the title. That year took so much out of him that he retired on the spot. The next year, Hamilton straight back at it.
That's what's different about these dudes, the Kobes, MJ's and Bron's, they come out every year like they ain't ever won shit. They go through the process with 100% committment when they have nothing left to prove to anybody.
That's one of the secrets, if you ever wanna achieve something, don't tell anybody, not a soul. It's easy to make excuses to others as to why you failed. It's real hard to look at yourself in the mirror and tell a lie.

There is a great interview with Steve Kerr, where he is talking about the Bulls are ahead 30+points in a regular season game, and Kerr does something stupid (which does not matter at all because they are definitely winning the game), and Jordan just rails into him "the score is 0-0. the score is 0-0. what are you doing?" and to me that is something that just a gear most people (me included) will never have.

Melo is the 9th all time in scoring (gonna be 10th once KD passes him soon) but still was an incredible scorer throughout his career. Ahead of his time, prime melo would EASILY average 30 in today's offensive focused league. And he was an underrated rebounder. The stats don't show it but he got them when the team needed it and was always good in the clutch. One of the most underrated, humble players of all time!

It’s not just about being disciplined with LeBron. Although that does play a major role as to why he’s still running up and down the court with 20 year olds. LeBron has a special gift that he was blessed with by the Most High. A gift that no one else in the league has.

Personally, I think the biggest distinction between Bron and all other players is that he came into the league determined to be one of the BEST EVER. From day 1 that was a goal of his, and he's followed thru and been incredibly disciplined and humble throughout the journey. They say hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. But what about when talent works harder than everyone else? That's what differentiates great players from all time greats. LeBron has surpassed all the hype, every challenge, and all every expectation anyone has ever put on him. 😊

Imagine how happy all these players were when podcasts came along and they realized they could speak more freely. The current players still try to stay PC, but the retired one are REALLY themselves. They go from "We just played hard and executed on the defensive end..." to "Them n--ggas is old, man. They are. Old n--gas done took over the league." lol
I've seen just about everyone who has played pro basketball. LeBron has been on another level his whole life. There hasn't been another player like him probably won't be for another 20 years. He's the perfect combination of body and mind. But more importantly,he knows it,respect it,and uses it. The best i have ever seen. Basketball will be boring without him. Think of it; some people have been watching him thier entire lives. And when hes gone,the game will look different. There is no other player who draws like him. Viewer ship will go down. I won't watch as much. Wembley is interesting but again compare his first year to labrons he's not willing his team to win. And he's not that athletic,he should be almost jumping over the backboard. He needs LaBron mindset,but doesn't have it. He'll be good but not great,not seeing that at this point.l in his career. While we know what LaBron did his first year.
