She was a character that was brought in with no depth or character development and was forced as a main character. That’s one reason why people dislike the character Butch. She was also annoying. And having Timmy have to share his fairies was a terrible idea. And where did Chester, AJ and Vicki go? They just disappeared with no explanation.

I know exactly what happened to them. Vicky only showed up on occasion because it has hard to write for her without repeating gags. Chester and AJ were just background characters and they were phased out to make room for other characters and make more time for the fairies. I would rather see Timmy talk to Cosmo and Wanda than chester and AJ.

The problem with having Chloe be the exact opposite of Timmy Turner is that Timmy has flaws, and when you take those flaws away, you create a very bland and unlikable character...
Justen J Timmy had to many flaws but a good heart.
Vlad Tepes exactly, and the fairies help balance him out. That's not a bad thing for a character to have flaws in a story.Chloe isn't needed, and I'm not basing this off of nostalgia, its just with the main trio balancing him out, Chloe is just the outlier, with no room to spare into the group.

I think the problem on season 10 was, that so much characters seems to be... lost forever. Chester, AJ, Trixie, Troodie... We loved all of them. And the desision to put a complete new character in with out the four I alreddy mentiond... make some fans a bit sad, because they were pretty much in our hearts

I think the writers actually did forget AJ existed. Crocker said in "Chip Off The old Crock" that Chloe is the only student in class who did the homework.
They decided to make Chloe the smart kid in class, even though AJ was already a genius.
You missed a great opportunity to make Remy buxaplenty to redeem himself as a character and rival for Timmy, considering the fact he was much more preferable by the fans...

If they had put in tootie instead of Chloe, it would have worked perfectly. She’s already miserable so it makes sense, she already knows Timmy, and she could slowly develop into less of an annoying stalker and more of a good friend and playfully annoying rival of kinds. I mean in the flash forward in the “control freak” episode and in the movies it shows they get together anyway, this would have been the perfect start for it. Anyway, it’s just a lot of lost potential.

It's also obvious that Bucky McBadbat didn't cheat on his wife because Chloe possibly has recessive genes from both of her parents to explain her hair and eye color and her pale skin.
but why not add Tootie, She lived with Vicky and she never got fairies. That made so much more sense than the perfect Mary sue with OCD problems.

Giving Tootie Fairy God Parents is a bad idea. Tootie is one of my favorite characters and I ship them,but if she was around all the time the whole show would be stalker jokes. They would have to downplay her crush on Timmy and give her a new personality.
No they wouldn't. plus Chloe aka Mary Sue had no reason to even need faries at all to begin with. she came out of nowhere and he back story of her having OCD with a perfect life was not enough. it contradicted Da Rulz. the only big thing they would have to change it her being overly affectionate with him only to a smaller extent. possibly having her have a revenge on Vicki type of thing going on with her. even with the final episode they had Timmy get another random girl as a gf. unless he gets with Tootie later though his life. but they could have gave the very last episode to Timmy and Tooties children as a finale. they could have easily written Tootie into the show as a main character
If Tootie had to share I would make her more of a clumsy geek and have her try to kiss Timmy every now and then.And exaggerate her girly traits.
They made a random girl be Timmy's girlfriend because it would be out of character for Trixie Tang to notice Empty Bus seat. It was a really funny episode.

Tootie having fairy godparents for her entire birthday up until 9:00 PM was a very bad idea. If she was to have fairy godparents on a daily basis like Timmy, she most likely would have lost them after the first month of having them because it would appear that she can't keep secrets.

Connie was pregnant with Chloe's little Brother but he ended up being switched out with the fairy baby inside Cosmo. When Timmy granted the wish Chloe's Baby Brother became the fairy baby Poof while the fairy baby inside Chloe's Mom would end up causing bad luck to happen to Chloe because of it's fairy powers aren't in control.

i honestly loved when poof was brought into the show the same episode was also the most watched episode ever on the show and i like the show until season 10 i liked season 9 bc it still had most of the stuff we loved about it but then season 10 came and i didnt really like that season that much i mean i liked a couple episodes hear and there but not alot of them i wish a least they would of made a big special episode for the series finale that would make us remember the old show and it feel like a good ending for the show that is deserved instead of ending on a 2 10 min episodes i wanted an hour episode that would be the best one or a tv movie that would end it and make us love it that we could forget about the 10th season

The issue isn't that she's a new character, it's the fact that you do nothing with her and that her whole reason for having fairies makes no sense. It would've been better to have Chester or Tootie, two characters who deserve fairly odd parents based on the rules that YOU put in place, and have theses established characters now have to share fairies and the struggles of timmy trying to teach them how to not spoil it for them both.
yeah chole is okay i guess but she doesn't exactly qualify for fairly oddparents, like you said there are several other characters who could use fairies and they gave Chloe some when she really doesn't have nothing to horrible going on in her life.

@Tim Smith I would think he could have made a new character that fits in the aspect of the previous 8-9 seasons and made her miserable but the exact opposite of Timmy. Such as a girl who wants to help the world but still forgets about herself and her sadness, all the while telling Timmy he is selfish and tests his selfishness or something. Better than Chloe as she is now.

I wonder too. Its been a long time since I watched the show. I recently watch the newer seasons with Chloe in it and I was so confused and have so many questions to all the changes.

@Vinicius Contini That only makes sense. He knows a lot of people who work on these cartoons personally. Sometimes its too easy to rag on creators using the anonymity of the internet. If he's not being 100% honest, it's probably just because he's being polite and because he knows the hurdles they have to go through to get any animation out, what with the struggles of working with other creators, executives, animators, voice actors, etc.

Remy was nowhere to be seen, one of the best antagonists in FoP
So here’s would I could have done; since Tootie is already miserable living with Vicky and the such, she could have shared the godparents with Timmy. Timmy asks around for help, Chester, AJ, Sanjay and more, and eventually learns to loosen up around Tootie. Keep Poof and Sparky, and just let Vicky and Remy take the “antagonist” role.

I get WHY Chloe was added to the show; it was because the network forced you to add new characters in order to keep the show going. My question is: Why didn't you give her depth? Or an interesting personality? Or a REAL REASON TO NEED FAIRY GODPARENTS?! Butch, I love ya, and I always will, but Chloe is, in my opinion, one of your worst failures. You made some of the greatest cartoons in recent decades; mainly early FOP, Danny Phantom, and TUFF Puppy. I would like to take a moment though to focus on Danny Phantom. Look at how much depth he had to his character: he was an average teenager who was considered a loser, he had ghost powers he felt he had to hide since he thought he would be made fun of and hunted if anyone found out, but despite that he fought every single enemy that came his way because he felt it was the right thing to do. And in the end, he is hailed for saving the world on multiple occasions and is finally accepted. Danny is awesome and is my favorite of your main characters. But back to FOP, even Timmy had depth in the earlier seasons. Remember in "Foul Balled" where Timmy wished his friend was the best baseball player ever, then Chester got so good that no one else, including Timmy, got to play on the team, but because Chester said he wasn't Timmy's friend anymore it cancelled out the wish, and in the end, Timmy taught Chester that even though he stinks again at least he's stinking with his friends who also stink? Also watch: The Boy Who Would be Queen, a Wish Too Far, Channel Chasers, School's Out, Boy Toy, and more for more examples of Timmy teaching relatable lessons and being a relatable and interesting character.
What character traits does Chloe have? Mary Sue. What does that mean? That she has no personality. She literally is designed to be perfect and have no flaws whatsoever. So tell me, Butch, WHY DOES SHE NEED FAIRIES?! For God's sake, in the first episode with her, everyone loves her, she never gets sad, and she is BLAND AS A CAKE WITHOUT SUGAR. Let me give you an example of another Nickelodeon character who was written like Chloe, but was given depth: Olga Pataki from Hey Arnold! For those who don't remember, she was Helga's older sister who was perfect in every way: she had straight A's, was class Valedictorian, a professional pianist, and won every spelling bee in the state. Everything about her seemed perfect, and at first glance she seemed SOOOO annoying, but then later on they reveal that she secretly LOATHES her existence because she fears that if she doesn't make herself the perfect daughter her abusive parents expect of her, that they will treat her as badly as her sister. Was Olga perfect? No. THANK GOD FOR THAT. She had depth to her character, and she showed how trying to be perfect to impress someone, even your parents, can seriously take a toll on a person's psyche.
What does Chloe teach anyone? That being bland and uninteresting will get you amazing things in life? No lol I was just teasing there. I remember in the first episode she said that she tried to hard to help and that her getting involved annoyed people. That could have worked perfectly and given her depth! She could have been used to teach the audience that it's great that you want to help, but not everyone wants or needs your help. And that often it's best to not get involved in situations that are none of your business. But it DIDN'T work because everyone, EVERYONE ON EARTH, loves her! How miserable could she be if she is more popular than Trixie, and apparently saved a bunch of people? I understand, Butch, that you had no control over the fact that you had to add a new character, but you DID have control over what her personality was like, what her character was like, and you could have given her depth! So once again I ask you, why did you make her a Mary Sue who had no need for Fairy Godparents (the reason you gave in the series is EXTREMELY forced) and was incredibly bland and obnoxious when you could have written a beautifully balanced, well written character who was relatable not only to kids, but to anyone? Like the OTHER main characters in your original shows?

I thought fairy god parents were only given to children who need them, chloe obviously doesn't need fairy god parents, shes living a good life on her own.
I stopped watching before Chloe joined the show so I don't know her character. But why add another female when you have great female characters like Tootie, Vicky, Toothie and Veronica already around to challenge/build up Timmy?

The main problem I had with season 10 was not that Chloe was bad (in fact she was a decent character), but that she did not interact with the other characters in the show like Chester, AJ, Tootie, Vicky, and so on. I felt that the writers missed the opportunity of making storylines with the side characters which we never saw in the later seasons.
Next time, she should interact with the other characters in the show and writers should not miss the opportunity with making storylines with the side characters and a female major character Missy who has Chloe Carmichael’s voice will interact with all of the side characters and the writers should not miss opportunities of making storylines with side characters.
I am sorry that the writers should not miss the opportunity of the storylines of the side characters and writing and let Missy with Chloe Carmichael’s Voice should interact with all of the side characters and not get removed.

Everyone's blaming the exec, but from the sounds of it Mr. Hartman had the creative license to create her character however he and his creative team wanted.
Here is what i felt:
POOF was an okay addition because it made it funny for Cosmo to give birth in that one episode.
SPARKY gave me mixed feelings, it was new but he felt too much like a random character that didn't do much on screen and did everything most of his time off-screen with his own shenanigans.
CHLOE is a doozy...i don't like her specifically that her character is entailed to be "Perfectly Imperfect" She does everything perfectly but gets different outcomes of her actions. She's bland and boring, i don't know any redeeming features she could have except being a downgrade Jojo Siwa.
Chloe is fine the problem was oversaturation. If she was one of Timmy's friends he hung out with Sometimes and had her own Godparents then that would be awesome. And no she isn't boring. She is Ned Flanders mixed with Lisa Simpson. She is a goody two shoes, she is short tempered, sometimes goes crazy, she is too much of a nerd,she makes lowsy wishes just like Timmy.
Magali Mizuki i think Poof is perfect because he isn’t a character. He was really just their for one episode where cosmo gave birth but all he does is float and say Poot every now and then. He’s just a fun visual addition that rarely if ever was used as an actual character of for story purposes.

What I really love about Butch as a cartoonist is his view reflected in this video. He talks about changes in the show having mixed reviews but it sounds like he rolls with the punches and butting in from execs and turns it into something he can be happy with. His attitude says that at the end of the day if he has to change or add something, it’s gonna be something he likes at least in part. He never struck me as the settling type. That’s why you can totally see Butch in the energy of all his shows.
Most of the other commentators have said it well. Everything Chloe was you already had with Tootie. As far back as the channel changer movie coming out I can remember people wanting a bigger role for Tootie since she played a protagonist role so well even if it was brief. She had all the ingredients you needed: was a sad girl who needed help at home, was a foil to Timmy but at the same time he got along with her at times, she was closely related to another iconic character (Vicky).
Yet Butch dropped the ball on this one badly. Yes the show needed a rivalization and your heart was in the right place but the execution was all wrong. Chloe was introduced too fast, the change to the theme song was very unpopular, kids and old fans alike hated it so the ratings went down and the show got cancelled while leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
I get the feeling Butch either didn't like Tootie as a character/design/whatever, or underestimated how much she resonated with fans (she seems to be left out of a lot of older stuff as well, like Wishology or the Big Superhero Wish), resulting in her lessening role when Hartman took over the producer role from Fred Seibert. It was a real big miscalculation on your part.

Used to not like Tootie but even I saw potential with her character. The creators should’ve just tried new things with established characters than just throw in new ones that felt like replacements. I get that they meant Chloe to be a parody sue like Lila from Hey Arnold with hidden depths but it never goes well with fans. This idea was screwed from the start.

Its Just That The Character Came From No-Where That This Character Showed Up... We've been with Timmy for more than 15 years! and it shouldn't have some as a surprise when there's a new main character and they're getting the spotlight more than our original protagonist. she excels at everything, BUT she has to share fairies when all she has as a problem is no friends. Timmy has Only 4 friends! AJ, Elmer, Chester, And Sanjay (3 more if you include the fairies), and also Timmy gets 2 fairies why cant he just get 1? and Chloe gets the other? the reason why people are skeptical of this character is because there's a lot of plot-holes involving why others didn't get fairies. Like Chester is poor, isn't that worse that just no friends? Plus he only gets fairies when he loses his father and learns how to play the BANJO!! and Tootie!? She is tormented by her sister and SHE has no fairies! it just doesn't make sense that Chloe gets fairies and those other characters get none, there should be more evidence to why this is! plus Timmy gets fairies when Vicky torments him when it's cannon in the show that Vicky torments Tootie More Than Timmy! WHY DOESN'T SHE GETS FAIRIES WHEN SHE HAS WORSE PUNISHMENTS THAN TIMMY!!! I'm not trying to complain i'm just explaining why there's people who hate Chloe and I speak for them! I don't mind her as a character, but her role in the show doesn't make any sense. There was an entire episode dedicated to the dangers of fairy overpopulation, but then they turn it around and say there is a shortage of them. I don't like that Timmy shares his fairies with Chloey, she should have just been another friend like Chester and AJ or maybe she could have had her own fairies. You could have made POOF her fairy god parent!
My main issue was honestly the theme song. Like the whole thing just seems to belittle Timmy literally singing about how she’s ruining all his plans. Leave the theme song or even make both of them happy in the new one and I would have at least been a little more okay with it.

Hi Butch! I think when Chloe popped in it was hard at first because I grew up with the 3 mains, then the 4, and then around Sparky I left and did other things. I came back around season 10, and I thought I missed the old show, but It was a cool change and eventually i realized no one could have ever even made the old episode beat, so might as well go to those ones, because Nickelodeon stopped airing s10. Eventually, it just kind of stopped airing, so I went to youtube to watch it along with everything else I already watch on it, and then watched FOP on there, and then I found your youtube channel, which led me to this, and I love this channel. Thank you for so much and keep going with what you are good at.
I think the reason Chloe gets such a bad rep is because she kinda threw out a lot of the lore out the window. In the episode she is introduced in she is shown to have a really good almost borderline perfect life. This would have been fine and all but then she is given Timmy’s fairies. The point of fairies as it was established (I’m sorry I’m explaining in your comment section butch but this isn’t for you it’s more for people who may have forgotten) that fairies are for miserable kids to make their lives better. Essentially Chloe had no need for fairies. Honestly I get the executives wanting a new character (cause spark worked so well [dripping with sarcasm]) but honestly I feel like Tootie could have filled that role, especially since she had been pretty back burner the last few seasons before Chloe showed up.
As far as tootie goes, most new fans probably don't even know who tootie is. And it could be interesting to see tootie grow from obsessively attracted to Timmy to the two becoming genuine friends. And maybe have a callback when she realizes the fairies she had for a short time were a gift from Timmy
Max Lean Yeah that’s how a lot of (don’t judge me for this) fanfictions about the characters usually have it go when getting the characters closer to each other. And frankly I feel like her personality I things like channel chasers and other episodes where she has goals other than Timmy really lets her personality shine through, so I find it was kind of a missed opportunity to throw her to the way side for a new character before the show ended. But Executives are law in cartoons.
Well, it could've been Tootie... But the execs didn't like her (she was barely mentioned alongside Trixie, the later she defined as a freaking tsundere)... so...
Stinkin execs. Well, even if it wasn't tootie, it could've been more interesting to break up Cosmo & Wanda (either from each other or from Poof) to give to a miserable kid who annoyed Timmy (and possibly was annoyed by Timmy).
Premiere episode: after failing to convince Jorgen to reconsider, Timmy would try to free whatever fairy it was by either tricking the kid into revealing the fairy or by saying 'I'm happy and don't need my fairy anymore'. At the end Timmy realizes the kid is as miserable or more miserable than him, and Timmy decides to give the kid a chance and the fairy family is reunited. Further episodes would then deal with the after math.
But Chloe? She would only work if she was bored by her 'perfect life' or if she was always being compared with a family member and perfection was expected.
Actually, that explanation is exactly what Hartman needs, since he clearly forgot himself.

I liked Poof, I thought he was a nice addition. I thought Sparky was interesting he was different and a pet he and Timmy could have their own shenanigans and it was another take on a boy and his dog.
But Chloe? I can't stand her in the since that she doesn't make any sense. She's perfectly imperfect? And that makes her miserable? What about Tootie who is Vicky's tortured little sister? She's plenty miserable and a girl and a well liked character in the fandom. I hope that executive got fired for insisting on a NEW female character instead of asking for an existing female character to have some sort of growth. That would have been better. No one would have questioned whether Tootie deserved fairies or not. I mean HELLO HER SISTER IS VICKY!! AND When Vicky isn't watching Timmy or another kid she's torturing her family.
I don't blame Dan I think he did ok with what he was given but I just didn't like her or the reason she became involved with Timmy.
I think I would have liked Chloe more if she was just a rare gifted child who could see fairies and maybe at first she tries to make Timmy lose his faires because she doesn't think he's caring for them properly but after she sees how much Timmy loves his fairies and vice versa, she takes it upon herself to help Timmy keep his secret and help Timmy solve problems caused by his wishes.
That's just how I feel. I was disappointed by Chloe. It was difficult to enjoy her season.

today is the 19th Anniversary of Fairly ODDparents
To be honest, after Chloe joined, I lost interest in the show all together. The episodes with her were boring and hard to watch. It was just not as enjoyable without the other actually likeable characters like Chester, AJ, and Tootie. Those characters made the show so much more entertaining and it seemed bland without them. Plus the new additions like Poof and Sparky weren't even that bad because those characters didn't crucially change the show. But Chloe literally changed the main plot of the show. Not only that, it wasn't even a good plot change. Why does Chloe deserve fairies? Everyone in the show seems to love her and she acts like the most perfect girl ever. There are characters who are much more miserable than her and yet they don't get fairies. Maybe if she had a bit more development, than it could've worked. Overall, I just really didn't like Chloe being added. The show would have been much better without her. And I know it wasn't even Butch who wanted her in the show. I just think that the main plot didn't need to be changed that drastically.

From what I've seen of Chloe, she's not an entirely bad character and she can be amusing at times. Her personality isn't entirely awful, but she has a couple of problems.
1. She cannibalizes other characters. Her character existing deprives other characters of the ability to play a role in an episode because her role of being as close to Timmy makes it so that she can easily fulfill those roles and render other characters such as Chester, AJ, and Tootie irrelevant. Tootie was already a satisfactory foil anyway, a little tweak to her characterization and even design would have been more than enough to suffice.
2. Her existence in the show resulted in the flandarization of Timmy. Timmy's character feels the most shallow that he's ever been. It feels like too much of his personality has shifted around being meanspirited and indifferent towards things for the sake of bouncing off of Chloe's optimism and enthusiasm, when he used to be the type of character to constantly get stoked over the weirdest things such as the founding fathers of Dimmsdale.
3. She's around too often. She literally gets half of the opening to herself since she's a new female lead. Her sharing fairies with Timmy makes it so that she constantly has to be around and play a role in every episode. And unfortunately for me, I don't think it does well for the show as it makes the plot structure feel a lot more limited than if she were a less prevalent character.
Now Timmy can't do anything without Chloe being involved which as stated before takes away from his characterization. Chloe has to be there all the time and so you can't spend as much time fleshing out and focusing on more preestablished characters.
Chloe isn't a bad character, she's actually pretty amusing sometimes, but her terrible introduction and justification for sharing Timmy's fairies along with her constant need to be in every episode really bogs down her character as spending so much time with her around gets exhausting. Her design also doesn't match Timmy's at all, compared to him, she's overdesigned and placing the two next to each other shows the age difference between their designs.
She could have played a more primary role in the story than other preestablished characters sure, but putting her up at the forefront was not the best decision to make with a new character like her. She's certainly the best of the new characters that have been added (Including Poof, Foop, Sparky, and whoever else)
There were many problems with chloe. Too perfect, and annoying. She comes in rich and with good grades, who cares if she's a little depressed, she had a personality problem not a get fairys from some kid who actually needs them because you're so desperate problem.
You said she added dynamic or something but she ruined it. Timmy is dumbed down incredibly and loses all his personality. Also cosmo got a lot more annoying, not funny but, annoying after she came in. Timmy dad and crocker are now of capital importance in almost every episode, and made to be idiots, which was ok but by now it's gone too far cause their always there. Poof is also missing more than half the time, and he was the only character added to the show that I didn't feel was being forced in there but actually belonged there. Also dark laser is more idiotic than usual too, he was just supposed to be oblivious. Also where did Francis go.
