Loved it Gareth. Water looked a bit cleaner than when we were up there. Great tips as always. I have broken the hook on the mamba you gave me. So I am retying. Mind we are hitting a good few fish on the small stuff at mo. Take care mate. Shaun.
@@shaunfishes101 I watched it yesterday Shaun and thought I commented but I must not have pressed enter. I've been planning the advent calendars for 3 years but can't find a way to make the container for them at an affordable price. The flies would be such high quality it would be perfect. Any ideas on how to get the calendar made to store them in?
10 foot 7 weight is a great all-rounder. Recently the fish have been rather high up so a Sink Tip line is a great way to fish back nymphs and lures. A floating line will cover most situations you are faced with and an intermediate can be extremely effective on its day. If I had to take one set up it would be a 10 foot 7 weight rod and a sink tip fly line and damsels, zonkers or snakes.
@@UkFlyFisher Gareth Thank you for the info as you can imagine a lots changed over the years I would have automatically gone for 9.5 ft 4 weight with floating line Having said that I used to catch a lot on a heavy sinking shooting head But the sink tip 7 seems a great option You’ll be getting an order for some flies soon Andy
@@andym5900 Cheers Andy, you can have some great fun on the lighter rods. I tend to use my 4 weight for stalking although it's a smaller rod than yours. You can have some great fun on a 9.5ft 4, but if this is the option you would prefer I wouldn't recommend going lighter than 6lbs on your leader as Ellerdine does stock some massive fish up to and sometimes above the 20lbs mark. Their tigers also have super sharp teeth. I tend to use 8lbs here in the winter and will drop it to 6lbs if the fish are a little fussier on the day. I would tend to save the 9.5ft 4 weight for when it warms up a bit and I can fish dries. Hope that helps.
I will be reviewing a good few soon. My favourite for years has been the Airflo forty plus orange/translucent green. Not only does this get your flies out and down, but the translucent finish is also very subtle and blends into the environment, which can help around spooky fish.
Brave men! We had the storm really bad in the Northeast. Impossible to fish anywhere up here. I ventured out the day after. Black fishing exceptionally well in the coloured water. Thanks for the Video Gareth. I hope you both have a great Christmas 🎄👍
Thanks pal. The images here make it look easy, the wind on the day was unfishable at times. Thank you for the kind comments and we hope you have a great Christmas.
I guessed 3 casts. What a brilliant video guys. More like this would be perfect.
Thank you John.

@@UkFlyFisher That's nice mate, you can have some of mine from my advent calendar.

Great content again guys 👍👍 up there next week...hopefully the tips will help 👍👍🎣🎣🎣
All the best Richard.
Awesome video, that wind was crazy.
Absolutely stunning fish being pulled out 💪
Gareth. Having not fished for 40 years I find myself just 20 odd minutes away from Ellerdine
What recommendations have you on tackle , lines etc ?

Sound advice on leader strength

Hello there can you do a video on fishing brownies
As in how I target them in stillwaters or river fishing? Happy to do both, but in the UK the river season for brown trout is currently closed.
Hi Gareth ,
What intermediate line do you use ? Great episode. Love your content ! Have a great Christmas
