I can’t sleep and I’m feeling really anxious and depressed, seeing this in my subscriptions made me feel really happy. I love watching your videos to distract me from everything that’s happening rn. 💗💗💗💗
Bethlehem Tekle oh thank you haha and yes I am a once!! I’m actually multi fandom but momo is too cute to not be my profile picture lol And yes watching Mikans videos always makes me happy and distracts me from the world
I relate to this "not knowing some words in your native language" part way to much. At this point my personal notes are often a mess of German and English and for certain topics I even throw in some more different languages. In the end, I just gave up caring because I'm the only one who has to read this stuff and as long as it makes sense to my weird brain I'm fine.
@@Emiminnie a similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I was buying some vegetables at the market and didn't know the word for radish so I was like: ah whatever. Let's pretend to be English then
im making a tailored jacket for school too and i feel this stress on a personal level. the excess fabric is seam allowance, the ironing sausage is legit usually just called a sleeve sausage lol, its in the same tool family as a tailors ham
You're such a queen, we stan When I miss my older sister I'll watch your channel and it makes me feel better because you have such strong older sister energy
The part you leave on the pattern around the edge is the seam allowance, and the other thing you were trying to remember in English I believe is the interfacing.
You are so humble and motivating!!!😊💖💖💖 P.s. you can find a very good and cheap iron and small iron board on Amazon!!! Many of my college friends are able to keep them in their dorms and they don't take to much space!🤗🤗🤗
You say your videos aren't very interesting but in my opinion, you couldn't be more wrong. Just because they're not exciting, doesn't mean they're not interesting. I love watching your videos because they're relaxing yet at the same time inspiring. Seeing you chase your dreams, even if it's mundane, tedious sewing projects encourages me to keep going on my own tedious activities. I turn on your channel and watch while I cook and sew. Currently making a quilted tapestry for my dad for Christmas and I have no idea what I'm doing. You've helped me through the rough patches on that endeavor. And I'm now mentally invested in your jacket project, so I can't wait to see how it turns out!
I’m studying architecture but I get you on a spiritual level man the workload is insane along with the fact that it’s hard to proceed without having your work being checked
Omg 😂 this was brilliant! You're doing great with the sewing (I also swear when it says I'm supposed to use the sewing machine and I'm nowhere near it 😩). I'm almost entirely self-taught and trying to puzzle through Japanese sewing manuals has been an experience! I'll bring the English words, you bring the Japanese ones? While I'm watching, I am embroidering a bulbasaur to use as a patch on a dress, or something, haven't really decided yet. I've got a notepad on my lap with all the sewing terms because I have no chill - I must have rewound like 20 times to catch all of it. 縫い代 is seam allowance, 接着芯 is "adhesive core" aka interfacing/interlining, and 外袖 is outer sleeve. It's looking awesome, can't wait to see it done! 😘❤
I’m moving to japan soon! And you influenced me to go move to japan I have been there before but now I want to stay full time I leave in 3 weeks! Thank you mikan 🥰💓
Interfacing is the fabric used to stiffen fabric and the seam allowance is bit of fabric to allow for seams and overlocking. It's cool to know the Japanese words for them now :)
I know it's kinda late but there are iron boards that are tiny and with short legs made for putting on top of tables, beds, or ironing while sitting on the floor. You should be able to find one, specially in Japan since that's what older people use. They are so small you can put them inside a cupboard or under furniture / between furniture and the wall.
I'm so happy to hear that you like Twenty one pilots and all the "emo bands". House of gold isn't one of the more popular/famous songs so it's great that you enjoy it, too🧡
this is so fun honestly it's like, im spending time with a friend and i like doing hw while watching you do yours, also i looove what you're wearing omg so pretty
new subscriber so your homework is new to me. it looks very fun and challenging. I wouldn't mind seeing more! it;s also just nice to hear you chat about the general things and life. part of why i subscribed! :) keep up the hard work, you can do it!
Is Noishiro (sp) something like seam allowance, or the extra fabric beyond your seams? And the stiffening fabric, in America, we call it interfacing! The stuff we use to give shape and structure to coats, collars, etc! :)
Hello Mikan! I'm also a fashion design student, but not in Japan haha the thing you mentioned in 2:50 is called a tailor's ham(': but specifically for a sleeve..so sleeve ham..(???) //AND GUURL my class is starting to make a tailored jacket hehe (we're in the pattern making stage) ; words you probably were wondering what it was in english: interfacing(the white thing that makes it hard); seam allowance( the fabric edge and the stitching line)
The difference between design school and seamstress school was, seamstress had a test on iron clothes, we had to iron the design students works. Sömsmån = Sewing allowance = is the spare fabric by the seam when you sew, Mellanlägg = facing is the stuff you make stuff more sturdier.
I really like these kinds of videos. I study history so it's obviously so different from fashion school which makes it so interesting and exciting to watch. Keep going! :3
You can find ironing boards that are just the board and they're usually half size, they're designed to sit on a table so you don't need the entire stand for it.
I'm gonna put this on whilst I sew, stay safe. 気おつけて, Mikan. Oh, interfacing? The thing you iron on to stiffen fabric? Also that poncho cape top is actually the cutest thing I've seen today. I want it...
Thanks for making my day! I had a really shitty day, but your jokes and your goofy self brightened it up! I can’t wait to see how the jacket turns out! Keep working, you’re amazing!!💕
LOL! Yes. That was interesting. Earthquake, haunted iron, sleeves and all. LOL! You're a riot. This is just all of us hanging out with you while you do your homework. Why not?! Better than most TV shows! Luv from US.
I don't really have any experience in sewing but I have a big sewing machine and I ordered a pattern and fabric so soon I'm trying to make a lolita dress!😊 I'm excited but also scared if I messed up because I struggled so much finding the right fabric I wanted :/. Edit: Also Ive hat a pretty sh🍡t day and watching your videos always really calms me down! ☺️
I believe seam allowance and fusible interfacing are the terms you're for! Also that's so relatable because I'm finnish but I learned sewing through english youtube tutorials, so I have no idea what anything is called in finnish lmao
I’m finishing my term garment while watching this and I go to Bunka’s sister college FIT and I’m so surprised that Bunka sends you supplies! I literally have to buy needles to put in the sewing machines
I always make the jacket first and then the lining and put them together. That's how I learn it in fashion college haha but it is refreshing to see a new way but I am wondering. you put the seam allowence from lining amd jacket together but how are you gonna connect the seams together? or did you already do that?
ikea bags are a trend in japan... that’s it i’m moving.
Im coming with u
so are trader Joe's bags..
Aye bro if ur moving to japan u shall see me on da plain rn cuz I’m going from wales(uk) to Japan and I have my ikea bags
"sleeves. i invented them" she says that while being dead inside. i love her.
How are your space buns always look so perfect , you always look so cute
Is “seam allowance” what you’re looking for? ✌🏻
THERE IT ISSSSS LMAOOOO
みかんMikan 😂💜
Ellie Run ahh ya I learnt from school about it
and interfacing too! I think that's what she meant :) by putting it on and making the fabric more rough
I can’t sleep and I’m feeling really anxious and depressed, seeing this in my subscriptions made me feel really happy. I love watching your videos to distract me from everything that’s happening rn. 💗💗💗💗
Aw that's so cute and you should feel special ✨
Pun intended: Once
Also I think that's good you feel happy to distract your self
I also have anxiety, depression, and insecurity
Wonderful world of Akio you’re strong for living life even with your mental obstacles, I wish you all the best ❤️❤️

Same. Like my notes for presentations are a real mess. Mostly German, but throw in some English, Mandarin and Korean and there you go.
Im writing/talking in German but im like yeah I dont know in German but In english/spanish it's...
Same... I was going to buy envelopes in my native language yesterday and I said letter pockets and I was like sorry...my language... 🙃
@@Emiminnie a similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I was buying some vegetables at the market and didn't know the word for radish so I was like: ah whatever. Let's pretend to be English then
Yeah same!! My native language is German but at this point I know more stuff in English than German, 94% of my notes are in English
The most talkative iron I've ever seen
IRON LOL
It wasn't very happy that iron.
First the typhoon then this,,
literallllllyyyy LOL

Mikan is going to end up having a video with every type of natural disaster
I love hearing that a member in your class is 26, truly inspiring.
*literal zombie apocalypse outside*
Mikan: "I should totally make a cake!"
I love your pfp
I want you to have a "Do homework with me!" playlist!
Chrysan themum saaammee
I think there may actually be a "market" (demand?) for that like there is for the "get ready with me" or "declutter/konmary [name of a room]" format.
Please! And a try on of the results
I’d love this since sometimes it can be really calming🤗
You can use a folded towel on your table as a replacement for a ironing board! That's always what I've done!
Mikan is the only channel that will not get copywrighted because she just does homework 😂😂
“I’m so dead these days”, girl same 🤧
me too
I love how you get double productive!! Is interesting to me because I can see what kind of homework you have!!
You're such a queen, we stan
When I miss my older sister I'll watch your channel and it makes me feel better because you have such strong older sister energy
wholesome :((
13:00 Bless You!!
thank u
Honestly I love these videos 💕 I just watch these homework videos when I do homework or get ready in the morning
The part you leave on the pattern around the edge is the seam allowance, and the other thing you were trying to remember in English I believe is the interfacing.
I really like this kind of videos. So authentic
When I was in textile school, we called that type of smaller ironing board for "strykhäst". I think the english word might be sleeve ironing board.
You are so humble and motivating!!!😊💖💖💖
P.s. you can find a very good and cheap iron and small iron board on Amazon!!! Many of my college friends are able to keep them in their dorms and they don't take to much space!🤗🤗🤗

Look at amazon, there are iron board blankets.
Can't wait to see the finished product! You have to show it once it's done!
I really enjoy anything that involves sewing or Japan! It's The best of both worlds!

As someone teaching myself to sew these homework videos are solid gold relatable and you could do 1000 of them
I'm so happy to hear that you like Twenty one pilots and all the "emo bands". House of gold isn't one of the more popular/famous songs so it's great that you enjoy it, too🧡

You can find ironing boards that are just the board and they're usually half size, they're designed to sit on a table so you don't need the entire stand for it.
First word you are looking for is the seam allowance I believe and the second word is interfacing
I'm gonna put this on whilst I sew, stay safe. 気おつけて, Mikan.
Oh, interfacing? The thing you iron on to stiffen fabric?
Also that poncho cape top is actually the cutest thing I've seen today. I want it...

This was super interesting! Best of luck with this assignment!
You can fold a towel a couple of times and put it on a table as an ironing board, it’s what my grandma does and she used to be a seamstress :3
Yay! I love when you upload! I’m having such a good week this makes it better!
💖
Awww that’s so cute 💛 seeing you sewing stuff is interesting
The fabric you attach to the jacket to make it stiff is called interfacing. I would love to see the bunka unboxing xx
IKEA has a small ironing board that you can use on a table, so doesn't take up too much space and it's better than using your bed ;)
I don't really have any experience in sewing but I have a big sewing machine and I ordered a pattern and fabric so soon I'm trying to make a lolita dress!😊 I'm excited but also scared if I messed up because I struggled so much finding the right fabric I wanted :/.
