I'm so glad that in Germany we have to get a fishing license in order to be able to go fishing legally and that we are taught a lot about fish and nature so that everyone at least has the decency to treat such an animal appropriately.
A lot of the time the hooks get stuck in their mouth leaving them in constant pain plus because of the height they will also have a fishing line swimming around. Nobody's bitching people just reasonably hate influencers interrupting wildlife for no reason while risking hurting the fish.
I went Goliath fishing once. It's like catching fish in a barrel. There's very little skill or sport involved beyond using very heavy gear to winch up the fish. You break off a lot because they live near structure and leave big hooks in the fish as a result. Definitely will not be targeting them again.

Why even use a rod if you're going to point the tip in the water? You take all the line stress on the reel if you do that. The rod is your shock absorber and it doesn't matter how big a fish is - keep the rod tip up and it is easier and you can choose a more appropriate test strength.
