This show really resonated with me. I’m 35 and just started taking meds for my depression and anxiety and right when I started watching this show I found the right balance to start feeling the effects. I don’t have a constant nagging voice in my head telling me I’m worthless and that everybody hates me or that everything I have is not earned. It’s just gone and the energy and the feeling I have, I honestly feel like it’s my own little 2nd awakening. One piece is still my favorite anime because it’s just that good, but because of this I think this show will hold a special place in me. This show was so fucking awesome. Also, love your content, thanks for the reacts.
About the background characters..All Those S rank hunters, Jeju island, where not even introduced in the manhwa at this point. We were only supposed to know about them after the next arc only...The anime just introduced them earlier than supposed.
i will say its good that the penalty zone doesnt level up with him, since the higher level he goes the less valuable it gets, so when it comes to a point where he doesnt level from the 4 hours its basically just wasting 4 hours of his time, which in itself is good punishment
I actually think you should make a video talking about the storywriting and characters and stuff, basically what you talked about here after the episode as your afterthoughts, because I really love your take on things and how you see the character's reationships and the hints the story has been giving. This is what many people are missing by just "turning off their brains" and just focus on the action. Because the story isn't bad at all, it just looks like that to people who aren't paying attention. I think you making a video going into greater detail about it would be really fun and interesting to watch, and maybe even open eyes for some people. If you're interested in making these kinds of videos at all, of course^^
I agree with you. Yes, everyone can have their opinion but for me, the story in Solo Leveling is really good and got me hooked right after i reading it (not every comic got me hooked easily even if the arts are really good). The system's purpose, the gate, the power that Jinwoo's hold and what reasons behind it... For me the story is not mid because it really had purpose
This anime is such a breath of fresh air, truly amazing to watch with no downsides. I read the manwha when I was younger and I never knew that this becoming an anime was an option, so I’m so glad to be able to see you react to this!! While I’m a little sad about so many people hating on Dub, I totally understand you not wanting to wait for it so you can catchup cuz I did the same thing! Season 2 is coming out in January! And I’m so excited for you to see all the twists and turns that come with it!!
The interesting thing is that you barely get any side characters in the manwha until Jin Woo gets to their level. The anime did a great job of starting to introduce them and show their story and motivations a lot earlier rather than purely focusing on Jin Woo and who's around himnat the time.
for solo leveling being this hype despite of long gone finished story wise says a lot that the one who like solo leveling even before anime really loves it
Sadly the illustrator of the manwha Dubu died shortly after the anime adaptation was announced. But he was able to finish the main plot though. So I hope he felt at least the accomplishment of drawing such an amazing story.
I have heard that season 2 has been announced already with 24 episodes. Supposedly they're planning to go for six seasons and a total of 70 episodes, but I cannot confirm that at all. I've been really happy with the adaptation so far. I think they are pacing it very well, except for maybe one or two scenes around the middle that were overly tell don't show. Believe it or not, but the side characters were actually even more ancillary in the Manhwa. I'm glad that they have been expanding them and telling their stories a bit and I hope that since they are going for a full six seasons they allow themselves to expand them even more.
A lot of the side characters don’t really come into play until way later in the manhwa so the anime, at least for season 1 has been placing them bit by bit to I assume get viewers to be aware of them for now until they get more flushed out later.
I definitely get the vibe that jinwoo is become the villain. First the system can give him a "Kill this human or you die" quest, and now he can bring back the souls of the dead against their will? Dude is 100% going to have to rebel against the system, or the systems creator or something

Anime scheduling depends on alllllll sorts of things... it's almost impossible to guess ahead of time, all I ever do is pay attention to the news of a show I'm looking forward to and trust they're right. At least Solo Leveling the source material is complete, as far as I know, so it won't have to either make up its own story or wait for more material to adapt.
Not sure there's going to be much depth from the background characters, but since I didn't expect much, I'm fine with it. No, I've been hooked on this show from the beginning, too. What I'm hearing is they want a total of six cours, and this is just the first one. Unconfirmed but I did see one article reporting that the whole thing was approved, that we would be getting the whole thing. I hope so. Can't imagine how it would maintain this level of intensity, but I hope so.

I have an odd relationship with Solo Leveling. Through most of the manhwas run I kept asking myself “why do I enjoy this generic power fantasy?”, and I still have no idea.
So up until now they've stay fairly true to the source material. That said I think they're going to change thing with regards to Jeju Island. In the original source material the Japanese get involved and they come off as a bunch of a**holes. Since it's a Japanese company making the anime, I think they're going to be changing the story somewhat. I think the endgame on Jeju is going to be the same but how they get there is going to change up significantly.
apparently, in Japan, they air an alternate version for the japanese audience with japanese names and so on. That would leave hope that most of these changes could "shift" future "problems" enough to avoid massive changes to the original story
Don’t you worry, it gets better going forward. There’s a bit of contention about the ending, but I’m on the camp that thinks it’s actually a good ending and you even have a sequel to look forward to. Good luck resisting the urge to read the manhwa or novels, or playing the game 😂😂😂
I creamed over this show too. After reading the MANWHA… well it’s kind of soulless. Dude just levels up to the point where he’s too OP. There’s no struggle. No stakes. It’s like grinding at a game and leveling up so high it becomes too easy. It becomes boring.

You can play the game up through chapter 10. After that it does go into season 2.
