I always wondered, if Garp could train Coby and Helmeppo from that to this, then how much of a monster Luffy would have been if he had been trained by Garp from the beginning.

I remember thinking who's his Grandpa? The only old marines we know is Garp, but even though I thought of him, and he heard about Cobys love for Luffy, and was a wacky free spirit, I still didn't make the connection as he pulled up here on Water 7. Oda always gives you the answer a head of time, then makes you forget it or change your mind about it, before he revisits the answer he gives you. Classic!
The reveal wasn't a problem imo because this mini-arc reveals so many different things that taking one of them and putting it early to have an storyline for the whole East Blue is perfectly fine.
I interpret Robin's Dereshishishi laugh as her laugh when she's sad and wants to be happy, so I don't think she'll need to laugh like that anymore because now she can be happy
You make a good point about this not feeling as MC coded as other anime because of how long One Piece is. I think that is an understated strength of a story that goes so long. We have spent so much time seeing the true character of Luffy up to this point that big reveals like this don't feel as cheap, at least in my opinion.

9:24 that‘s the first time we see Garps face in anime and manga. Before this point in the manga Garp was not introduced in the main story. The Romance Dawn Prototype of One Piece also revealed that Garp is Luffys grandpa, but it has some other differences when compared to One Piece in it‘s current state.

Well, Robin just explained it. Dragon is directly opposing the World Government, Luffy's "business" just happens to sometimes go against them but like he could care less about them, he's just doing what he wants
IT WAS NOT THE CURSED SWORD THAT BROKE:) He got one from the barrel too, and that is the cursed one "Sandai Kitetsu". Swords really feel like they have souls and can grow together with their owner. "the sword chooses it's owner"
i actually feel that garp's early reveal kinda helps add intrigue for newcomers to the one piece franchise. in the second one-shot/draft before finalizing romance dawn chapter/chapter 1 of One Piece itself - garp is just revealed to be luffy's grandpa right away. the reason for him having the doggie hat is partly to conceal his face since a lot of readers may have kept that image of him as a grandpappy to luffy since all those years back. built up for here in ep 313
I also think it worked pretty well. We still get a big reveal here, and it won´t be super overwhelming with too many surprises. Also, while I love the "chill" adventure at the beginning of the story, where the Strawhats are relative nobodies and just a group of friends, I´ve seen complaints from some people that over time it becomes a story of "Chosen Ones" like a lot of other anime. Oh no, don't invoke Luffy's mom! That hasn't been solidly revealed, only alluded to, mostly in interviews by Oda, and is something the fanbase argues about because it hasn't been addressed directly. Everyone has a theory, some of which have a lot of evidence. I am not going to throw the main theory at you, because 1) spoilers, and 2) your head would probably explode. You don't know enough about the One Piece world yet to even fathom the theory of Luffy's Mom. You must become more worldly before that can even seriously be a topic of discussion, regardless of spoilers. Edit: also for everyone else wanting to comment or respond: NO SPOILERS! DO NOT NAME ANY NAMES!
As someone who is caught up in the manga we have still yet to officially meet/learn about Luffy's mom. However there's actually a really funny big fan theory out there that you actually have already met Luffy's mom and its not anyone you would ever think. Like so out there its not even worth guessing despite them being a really huge plot relevant character. I'll be able to fill you in after a few more arcs. In fact it would be amazing to watch you do a reaction to the theory once we get there.
I actually like that the live action bumped up the Garp reveal. Garp didn’t really do much in the time between his first appearance and ennies lobby. Meanwhile, if the live action is putting more focus on Garp, it makes sense to put that reveal where they did.
i dunno, it feel it's a good thing to not show him at all when doing nothing. It avoid creating too much expectations for him to intervene in major events he should not. Just like i don't necessarily feel like seeing Buggy each season. But of course the show will be a much condensed and compressed version anyway

it was not the cursed sword that got rusted, it was the sword, the shop owner gave Zoro as a gift
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ you are not ready for the rest ❤
its crazy 314 have 4 different flashbacks !!! wow
Robin only says dereshishishi when life is unbearable. Life isn't unbearable with the Straw Hats.
Oh yeah you remember when we told you at Logue Town "Oh who could be this Dragon!? Olala who!?"
And we didnt spoiled you because we was waiting for THIS exact moment for the entire years!!!!
PS: i hope you will dont skip the filler episodes since they are almost the last relaxing episodes since the animators didnt make so many original fillers after this arc °°
Dont feel bad 😂😂
Some reactors said Buggy is Luffy's dad
I wanna watch post Enies lobby again. It was so fun
“Romance down”…. I can’t, someone else do it please😤
i Honestly liked Franky's English VA more, deeper voice fits him better.
Ugh I hate the most popular theory
Smoker is Luffy's dad!
No! Buggy the Clown is Luffy's dad
NO! Spectre from DC comics is Luffy's dad!
So glad you didn't have Dragon or the Revolutionary Army spoiled for you by the live action lol
Saying that we haven't met Luffy's mom yet is a spoiler.
Let him find that out on his owm
Thanks for spoiling him.
Why spoil so openly? Come on, man.
welcome back recovered Nerdy 😂
I actually like that the live action bumped up the Garp reveal. Garp didn’t really do much in the time between his first appearance and ennies lobby. Meanwhile, if the live action is putting more focus on Garp, it makes sense to put that reveal where they did.
i dunno, it feel it's a good thing to not show him at all when doing nothing. It avoid creating too much expectations for him to intervene in major events he should not. Just like i don't necessarily feel like seeing Buggy each season. But of course the show will be a much condensed and compressed version anyway
lol garp is luffy's grandfather you dont say..... thank you live action one piece for the spoiler and yet this anime casually reveal luffy's dad and the revolutionary army also koby the best glow up at that time....lol live action one piece censoring the child abuse garp did to luffy... yeahhh
aaah don't worry, post eneis lobby is just as good
0:03 Press X to Doubt
So their next ship is going to be made out of adam wood" sounds like it should be dirty
It's funny. What's even more important is the 4 Emperors and the 7 Warlords. Which nerdy just didn't notice... because it's so abstract. But soon....SOON... he'll notice 😆 🤣 😂
1:25 no it was not, the cursed swords are kitetsu. he got yubashili and kitetsu from that dude
5:20 ohhh.... that will be awhile my friend.
"Is elbaph the next arc" jajajajajajajajajaj you about 17 years to early
have faith in Buggy stocks 🔥
"Is Elbaf the next arc?" I mean...
Koby became a man and now he can shave.
If you want to re-experirnce Romance Dawn then I recommend reading the manga
We all love Franklie
Koby had the best glow up
He aged up! He grew old enough to Shave now.
17:18 LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣 just imagine! 🤣
It was not the cursed sword.
Smoker😂🤣
