Thank you Mr Patel for the mention of Mohammed Ahmed. I have never seen him before. His playing is so soft and serene on Khansaheb's album SITAR NAWAZ with Raga Shankara and dhun in Gara. I would sincerely welcome any info on the whereabouts of the tabla maestro.
This one is really a masterpiece At this time Vilayat khan was playing in the Tantrakari style and his sitar was also more like Ravi Shankar s kharaj pancham sitar
Such emotional maturity at such a young age! Though not sure of the age, since there are ambiguities (maybe 18-20). Oh and you have also remastered the audio and the video? The original footage was blurrry! Thank you.
i assume this is an old Kanailal and Brothers. When did UVK switch to ghandar Pancham sitars. Are they more recent desing/invention or is it just that in his early day he preferred this design he plays here ?
Ustad Vilayat khan ji ko Mera shat shat naman. I am sure he is watching all of us from up somewhere. Also we all should not forget his guru, Ustad Allaudin khan sahib. He gave so many ustads and pandit to us including Pt. Ravi Shankar. In sabko Mera shat shat naman
@@cyberman308cyberman5 Allaudin Khan and Vilayat Khan met only once that too when he stepped in the duet of Ali Akbar and Ravi ji. Allaudin Khan got angry (that is what he was known for). Later they never met. He was a almost a self-learnt sitarist.
These are not songs but compositions based on different ragas (In Indian music ragas are composition frameworks used to create different emotions and feelings in music). One of the Raga used here is Raga Bairavi (this Raga meant to create an uplifting and euphoric feeling)
No. He is Ustad Mohammad Ahmad. When Vilayat Khan came to Bombay in 1940’s, he used to accompany him. I have heard him often. Later on he accompanied Begum Akhtar for all concerts in Bombay. He is pure Delhi Gharana. You can see and hear his 2 finger Baaj very clearly. I am 100% sure. I grew up with music all my life from all over India through short wave radio. I have a high respect for artists from Bengal. Specially I have liked very much Radhika Mohan Maitra and Buddhadev Das Gupta.
@@dineshpatel5239 Thank you so much for such a vivid and thorough answer. Yes that do ungli ka baaj thing did strike me, during his Na Dhin Dhin Na, he was delicately playing with two fingers. Thank you again for clearing the doubt. Is he alive? Are there any recordings of Ustad Mohammad Ahmad Khan Sahab?
Tabla player is Mohammad Ahmad. I was fortunate to have witnessed that era in the 1940’s. I was 13 years old and have ever since listened to him.

This one is really a masterpiece

This is real hard rock❤
Rameshbabu, excellent job in remastering the recording. Almost looking like a freshly recorded version.
What a treat! He was that rare artiste who was made for his instrument, and the instrument for him. Khan saheb is sorely missed.
Rare video clip, thanks
So great even at a young age... always at peace while playing, always was and always has been in future. The best for me 🥰❤🙏🕉
My paternal grandfather got married when he was 13 years old. 16 was 26 that time it seems
Great to hear this fabulous rendition of Ustadji in his teens.
Fascinating to see him even at the tender age of youth playing with such mastery and ease.
Thank you. Wonderful to see the great Vilayat Khan Saab at such a young age.
First time seeing this type (double pumpkin) of sitar in ustad ji's hands. Have always seen single pumpkin ed gandhar pancham sitar.🎶🎼🎵😌🙏
Wonderful ! Many thanks for posting this piece. With best regards, RS

This was released in 1944. VK was born in 1928. So I am assuming it must be 16-17 by that logic.
@@r.c.g8272 There are ambiguities regarding the year of his birth, but yes, here VK is not more than 20 years.

Rameshji, it might help people to find you if the channel was 'Ramesh Chandra Ghosh" as it was before.
Sitar is NOT three but Seven strings.
Tabla by ??
Mohammad Ahmad
Who is the actual player here
this was not him at the age of 16 !!!!
Then 😮
Is the tabla player Ustad Ahmedjan Thirakwa ?
Yes, Ustad Ahmad Jan Thirakwa.
It is pt. Mahapurush mishra. Not thirakwa. Thirakwa was 35 yrs. Older than bilayet ji.
