I wish all the Fletch " bashing" would stop... It's boring as hell... Love him or hate him, he is, (and will forever be considered to be), part of the band. Martin & Dave do not seem to have a problem with it, so I think people should just leave him alone. Whatever his contribution has been over the years, the rest of the band still think he's valid so I think people should respect that... For those who constantly have a go at him for being a contributing factor for Alan's departure, ok, maybe that's understandable, but only to a point. Remember that if it wasn't for Fletch, (along with other influences), there was a good chance that the band would not have carried on and would have all gone their separate ways. I'm so glad they didn't... So every time someone makes a sarcastic comment about Fletch, they are doing it to the band as a whole, and insulting their intelligence, which I feel is incredibly disrespectful imho... Things change, people change....Move on...

This interview should put to bed any delusions that DM are an "alt-right" band. Of course, anyone familiar with the band's music knows they're not right-wingers.

They aren't kids any more. No one keeps up the pace and vitality at their age. Their stuff isn't shit like a lot of bands at their stage so they're doing better than most.
Alan Wilder took what made DM special with him when he left after the devotionnal tour. Ultra was still good though but some of the magic went away afterwards.

I find it strange that Fletch looks a lot older than Martin & Dave yet Martin & Dave had struggled with alcohol & drugs respectively which was something Fletch never struggled with, heck even in the late 80's/early 90's Fletch looked a lot older than the other guys.

You guys of Depeche Mode and a lot of the music fan in New York City with in store record signing and the fans are coming out of the subways and the horns are honking of the cars in Manhattan and it is very noisy with yelling fans. The fans pushing each other of together New York subways and the NYPD is keeping an eye. You guys showed up in New York City with yelling fans in Times Square. The city is beautiful at night with color tower lights atop of the Empire State Building lit up at night in different colors of special events and the holidays. I will not to drive in New York City because the rudest drivers of the taxi cabs. There is so much to do in New York City and the Broadway plays in Times Square and seeing the sights in the Big Apple. The Christmas holidays are neat in New York City with the Radio City Rockettes at the Radio City Music Hall and the Christmas tree lighting ceremony of the Rockefeller Center with the ice skating rink. There is a lot of walking in New York City and talking the public transportation in Midtown Manhattan. You can also take the ferry along the Hudson River and see close up to the Statue of Liberty.🗽 I LOVE NEW YORK 🍎

Things are going to get worse if we leave the EU. Nigel Lawson advised leaving the EU while he applies to live in France. He was one who closely linked our economy with USA in 80s after making millions unemployed and based economy on encouraging many to be in debt, until it crashed by early 90s which they used as excuse to apply more tax on poor such as Poll Tax, VAT increases for people who were managing to make most of living in communities destroyed by Tories, while they gave rich tax cuts.

Somewhat true. Depeche Mode to me is Alan's music and Martin's lyrics. You can't have one without the other.
Andy has a history of managing the band in some aspects so I think he's comfortable in the role as a spokesperson for the band. He always seemed to be the one eager to answer questions when the others didn't feel like it.
Alan was amazing but let's not pretend DM didn't make good songs before and after him.
I am sorry to state the obvious but Fletch does not do anything creative in the group, he is administrator and logistical/beaurocratic part or nothing at all. Only due to the fact Martin and Dave are nice guys they didn't through him away.

Fletch is one of those good lads who sees the early signs of genius in their shy, slightly weird schoolmates, and sticks by them, talks them up, gives them the solidity and familiarity they need while their grey matter's taking them into unknown territories, and understands their need to be silent sometimes. Wish I had a mate like Fletch, and Fletch is damn lucky to have as democratic and equally loyal a mate as Mart too. No DM without Fletch, remember that!

With the band having not always employed a full-time manager, Fletcher has handled many of the band's business, legal, and other non-musical interests over the years. In the EPK for Songs of Faith and Devotion, he discussed being genuinely interested in many of the business aspects of the music industry that other performing musicians shy away from, and as such, he took over a lot of the business management aspects of the band. In recent years, this has included acting as the band's "spokesperson", with Fletcher often being the one to announce Depeche Mode news (such as record album and tour details).

How ridiculous that fletcher is the one talking..at all. Look at the series of documentaries about the albums...the real Depeche Mode albums....from the 80s and 90s. People such as Flood and Daniel Miller talk about the production and process of making the albums...singles...the music...with NO reference at all to what fletcher does. If his 'role' is to be the mouth-piece for Martin Gore, that's a separate issue. Alan Wilder...never forgotten.
