When I first started getting into bts, I remember talking about them with my boyfriend, almost teary eyed because I never felt so "understood" by 7 strangers from south korea. He laughed at me. Mocked me for days. But I still kept talking about them. I would retell their stories and messages. I listened to their songs everywhere. Eventually he started asking questions, and started to know their names too. I really appreciated the fact that although he didn't like BTS then, he didn't really stop me from loving them. He watched. He listened anyway even though I probably wasn't making sense to him. I couldn't say he is ARMY now because I don't think it's his type of music, but he knows their names by now, he can sometimes tell who was singing, and he would engage in discussions with me when it comes to BTS news. He would comment on their clothes and hairstyles and sometimes he would ask me what a certain song of theirs mean, most importantly, he never laughs at me anymore. He finally understands and respect where I was coming from. So although we aren't on the same page when it comes to being ARMY, at least I got him to respect BTS. And that's more than enough.

thats really sweet that he still listens anyway even though its not really his thing cos he knows that thats what interests you! its the same with my parents too. they never understood why is was always so excited when bts is mentioned or when i see bts related stuff outside, and they dont really like the music too, but they still try to watch with me and they listen intently when i excitedly talk about them because they know its what interests me. they try to learn their names (they can recognise them already haha) and tell me about news regarding anything about bts.

Goodness you were very patient had some man be he husband, boyfriend or whoever I'd have kicked the him to the kerb for disrespectful mocking. I expect the same standard from a man as I will give a man eg mock me you are out as I'd never mock you or what you like so don't do it to me.

I will say that I’m 45 and was introduced to BTS by my nieces… who are teenage girls, but they are intelligent, independent young women who like a wide range of artists for their musical artistry and messages… not because they are good looking young men. The middle girls favorite artists are Amy Winehouse, Phoebe Bridgers, Stray Kids and BTS. Quite the range. For me, I recognize the message, some songs really reach me, but not enough to say I’m Army. And that’s ok. I can still respect the group and their fans, and recognize the talent and message. And I think that is all it should come down to. Recognition and respect… even if it just isn’t your thing in entirety.

I’ve seen this video on its own, and it gets scarier later on, people are so judgmental when it comes to us ladies who love a certain band/artists 🙄

Yeah fr, it doesn't even matter what, as long as its liked by teen girls it will be mocked for no reason. When teen boys like it, it's cool, when teen girls like it it's silly and obsessive.
I understand that some fans are really too much but just let them like what they like.

The way I see it, at least with my own husband, men are super insecure. He made a comment to me that he always thought women liked masculine men and now he's realizing that's not necessarily the case. I have always been a fan girl and all the men I have idolized the most in my life were probably considered more feminine with makeup and fashion and such! It has completely confused his brain LOL

i always wondered this but why is being 15 and enjoying certain things, looked down upon, I'm not 15 I'm 22 but Ik what it was like to be 15 years old and alot of these people act like they were never 15 and that being associated with people of a younger age and the things they like is something that lowers their status as an adult...it's giving "pick me" and "self hatred"

As someone who used to be an idiot who just hated Bts and kpop itself for no logical reason. I realized that people that says "Bts fans are all toxic" was bcoz that's what they are looking for. Be it by searching specifically for the words "Toxic kpop fans", or by only clicking on posts that talk about it. Similar to "The dark side of kpop". Coz it's much more entertaining to look for the negatives than the positives. I'm speaking from experience. I used to have a mindset that all kpop fans or all bts fans are all toxic teenage girls. And I believed it too. Coz I don't see any good reports about them. So I never thought they're good. That's bcoz my kpop search history was always negative. And thus makes everything on my TL and recommendations negative.

There was one girl in class next door that was such big fan, she and her friends even decorated their classroom with cards signed ARMY & BTS and such (it's common the class decorates their own classroom for the year, here in Germany. We have a board that has our rules, the calendar we use to write our birthdays and dates of our tests, our countries flags and our photos from the trips we had). Very first day next year when I was that class the teacher asked "is there any BTS fans here?" And when I raised my hand he was like "yup, no need to throw away the old decorations then", sadly the cards didn't last long cus we had other stuff to put up but if you look, you can still find BTS written under them XD

08:54 no, men seek validation from men, not women. They see women liking bts, how they dress, how they behave and start to insult them, saying they are gay.... doesn't seem to me like trying to find women validation. They wouldn't insult women if they seek their validation.

Boracity is amazinf. There are lots of infos that i never knew. I grew up thinking beatles are legends, never knew they were belittled on their eaely yrs. Never knew anythimg about beatles only the 'detail' of them being legends. Even the other things that were for female, and now associated for men. That's crazy. And beatles were just active for 8yrs umtil they disbanded and they made anthology albums even after they were disbanded there were few anthology albums made. No one said a thing. Bts has been active for 9 yrs, it's their 10th yr this yr and with their discohraphy and tours, everything, they are deserving to release an anthology album. It's not the same as compilation albums, it's a prestige move that only prestige artists can pull off! Bts did.

Micheal Jackson, The Beatles, The Queen, Elvis Presley: they are all remembered as one of greatest singers in the world but few know know of their stories.
    • How MJ was treated bc he was black, and then bc of his condition (viltigo) his skin started turning white. There is many scandles about him being predator, when serval of those kids, years later, stepped out and told that it never happaned and their parents just wanted to profit by suing MJ. To this day ppl still think he bleached his skin purposely and that he died while overd0sing, they don't know his own doctor gave him too much sleeping medicine and that he fell asleep and never woke up.
    • Elvis Presley was inspired by black musicians and ppl consider him to be a thief bc appropriated their culture. His dance moves were frowned upon because he moved his hips in "alluring" way. (He was also into underage girls but not the topic im trying to point out)
    • After the lead singer of the Queen died (rip Freddie) the band got back together with Adam Lambert because the band still wanted to preform, Adam still faces criticism and is called as only replacement despite having been successful singer even before joining the Queen.
BTW both Freddie and Adam are part of lgbt community (BI and Gay) but Freddie is prime example of bi erasure and almost nobody acknowledges he wasn't straight.
_Each person had their own stuggles, hardships and story behind them. And to think that ppl are still refusing to admit that even celebrities are imperfect people, it's very sad._
*Anyway, my point it, fans are allowed to like whatever they want and no matter how talented there will always be ppl that hate you BECAUSE of it.*

I have to listen/watch on the way home, but I have a feeling I know how this will go... I've been a part of many different fandoms over the last 4 decades and trust me, it's all the same shiz, just different flies. Social media has just exacerbated things EXPONENTIALLY. Yeah, fandoms in general, are helpful, but there is an element out there that is off the rails, DELUSIONAL. The love and fervor we share for something is infectious, but sometimes there are fans that take things a tad bit too far in their vehemence and demands for attention. How many times today have I seen the posts of "WE MADE YOU WHO YOU ARE, XYZ COMPANY! THIS VIDEO NEEDS ENGLISH SUBS, NOW!" "THAT SUCKS AND YOU SUCK!" !?!
    Yeah, that's classy.
I love being a fan, but it can be scary, at times.

You pointed out when she was comparing sports fans to Kpop fans that sports fans may "bet $1000s on games, that's crazy."
But of course because that is male behaviour, there is no reason to comment on it !!!
I am a 70 year old fan, and I like BTS for their fantastic singing, rapping, dancing and their songs which are often written by themselves. They are infinitely entertaining. The fact that they are also fit, handsome young men doesn't hurt one bit.

  • @scarauchiha

in my perspective or opinion: its mostly men thats so.... uhh "powerful", women are uhhh.... *ahem* "weak". The most homophobic gender is men, VERY less is women. Most Haters all are men.
most men doesn't feel any.. emotions on the outside, some men cry, becuz they're legit 100% humans
Why? becuz most homophobic humans don't have power, they have their hellish weakling lives.
as we may know....... God owns earth, He created earth, he made humans to be hardworking, lovable not just some.. mfkin'....... corrupted humans.
kpop is all-age, all-gender, all-knowing, infamous. Especially Blackpink, BTS, twice, red velvet and many more.
pop and kpop are the same thing but it's only the language lol, hopefully y'all can maybe understand it.

"KPop is all age all gender, all knowing" you do realize the average KPop fan is female, in her teens or early 20s right? Pls don't act like KPop is superior music, it's not. It's just music like anything else.

@@sandygonsalves4646 Proving the point, how can you say that when in their country everyone listen to it like we listen to ours. Its freaking disrespectful like saying majority of latin music consumers are men. It undermines the work of the artists so if you don't like it shut up.

Watching this as 17 year old is so funny cus I have 23 year old sister who is ARMY and a niece who is 6 month old who I kid you not, loves listening to TinyTan. We didn't force her to like it, we put it up to calm her down and she actually did, and now every few days we let her listen to few songs before sleeping. She is big fan of dreamers and go go, so yeah, many different ages listen to them XD

I will be 62 yo in few months and I am an army. I’m a fan not because these men are good looking but because they make great music and each member are very talented. I don’t care how handsome an artist is. If s/he cannot produce good music, I’m not going to support those artists. I don’t think anyone would. I’m pretty sure most of the people commenting that BTS fans are crazy 15 year olds have not even listened to any of the music from BTS or took any time to research about the fandom. They just see the passion and enthusiasm of the fandom and made assumptions without any factual information. Bora City has many video essays and I agree with. If you haven’t seen them, give her channel a try.

For me tho, the Army was genuinely the reason I just stopped listening or doing anything about BTS. I used to LOVE them, they were the second group I ever stanned, but when the fandom started growing and getting more toxic, especially towards other fandoms and artists I'm in and follow, I just kind of...drifted away from their content bc I couldn't stand to see all of the hate I was seeing...

Just ignore the fandom or don't interact 🤷🏻‍♀️ like it's suppose to be about the music not the fandom. So I'm sorry, but that will never be understandable to me personally, cause I think it's an excuse so to not feel bad for not liking an artist anymore. I recently confronted a so called toxic BTS fan and told them I knew they werent a real fan because real ARMY dont behave like that. What spewed forth was alot of bile about how BTs were shit. It got me thinking this would not be the first time there was organised campaigns trying to infiltrate the streams to make the fandom look toxic. Now it seems to be trying to split the fandom into solo stans. If you watch BORACITY WHY THE INDUSTRY IS TERRIFIED OF BTS. ..explains why ARMY past group block voting habits overcame the industries corrupt unfair treatement of BTS. It has made me wonder if this is not actual fact, an industry funded PR campaign, After all RM credited ARMY with 50% of their success. BTS global domination is attacking the bottom of the other big Kpop companies.
