Has no one mentioned how each clip transitions to Ezio in the same position/direction that he ended the previous clip in? There’s even a roll to roll transition at 9:40. Very cool touch. And yes, no HUD can be cool, but I appreciate being able to see your button inputs. Shows how much precision is required for technique like this. Awesome video!
Thanks for your comments! Sadly, nobody has mentioned it before. Since I didn't have a proper editing software for fade-in/fade-outs, I had to get creative. Getting the camera angles, directions, and sometimes even Ezio's stance had to be right for the transitions. Sometimes I had to redo just because the ending didn't match. I did what I could, but I still wish I could go back and get the transitions even more perfect. About the HUD, it's actually a funny story. When I played the Classic AC games, I didn't realise how dependent I was on the mini-map to find things. When I started recording, I, for the first time went HUD-less, and was actually lost. Completely lost. So I _had_ to have the HUD on, but only for a while. As I kept getting better at keeping a track of my surroundings without the mini-map, I decided it'd be cooler if I took off the HUD elements one at a time, so as to give the video a sort of creative identity

The worst part about every single game in the series is often times you can’t predict exactly what’s gonna happen when it comes to jumping between or around buildings or other structures. Ezio has jumped to his death many a times when he could’ve just grabbed the thing I wanted him to.
I think you should try to pay attention to what buttons you're pressing while making the jumps. For the older games at least, it's very easy to go exactly where you want to go. Obviously you have to take into consideration jump distance and button inputs. You can also try using Catch Ledge (Empty Hand in midair) to grab any handhold (also increases grabbing range
@@thatsaweirdone I do use the grasp ledge. And I do pay attention to the buttons I’m pressing. Just sometimes Ezio will do something you don’t want him to or he thinks you want him to do. How much time did the parkour take you to master? I had played ac2, brotherhood and 4 for now and the last one is BY FAR thr best one: there are more option, you can move your camera while moving and you can master it in just a couole hours. Instead the old parkour takes you hours and hours of grinring just to get good at it. It id anyways impressive how good you are at it and if you prefear it to the other that id totally ok.
Thanks for the comment. While AC4 parkour is really nice, I prefer AC3 over parkour that one (among the Kenway games, that is) As for how long it took me to master this system, it's hard to tell really. I started with Leo K's Movement Guide and memorized his lessons by heart, played through the games, and after a generous amount of free-roam, opted to make this video. Choreographing for a video did sharpen my skills, I'll say that
The only reason people say these games are "slow" is because they hold forward and climb straight up buildings instead of using parkour starters or different routes up.
I think it's a different story when you're taking a specific route. The thing about AC3- ACS is that the freeroam is easier and faster. Scaling walls and parkouring downwards is much easier which is very important when chasing or running away in AC. The classic movement flows faster while parkouring on poles and such, though it's much harder to go down or scale a flat wall without a ladder or hay at the bottom. This is my opinion however I wouldn't say I've mastered the movement but I've played enough to understand how annoying it can be.
I personally don't find any problems in traversing downwards or just roaming around or chasing people in the Classic games. The newer games have their charms (till a certain point, of course) but I don't find the older games inferior in any way. Either way, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment
@@thatsaweirdone Same neither do I. But many people don't care about the parkour seriously enough and just use it to traverse. Which is why they like the newer games because it holds their hand and they don't need to run into any issues. Which is probably why they dislike the classic movement.
I've just bought this game a few days ago on PC and I'd say that the parkour system of this game completely sucks. Ezio doesn't parkour down, he only climbs down hanging from the ledge wasting a lot of time. Every time you direct him in one direction, he goes to a different direction than the command you assigned him and that is super annoying when chasing someone. Sometimes, when you are about to reach any high point of a building Ezio bugs and falls down making you done of playing it.
Riiiiiiight. Watch Execution Producer's guides on Parkour Down for the Classic Games, and also watch Leo K's Classic AC parkour guide to get a good idea about the system
Really? Well, what I wrote might not be the correct statement. It is paraphrased, obviously. But the idea was to show the strength of the Classic AC parkour. And also, thanks for the compliment!
Clunky no, now very slow depends, sometimes there is literally not a point to get a fast run through in which case your only option is wall climbing but at least there are side wall leaps in this game and to be honest AC2 is a good game but it's not all that good as in ACB and Revelations blow it out of the water because 2 of the 3 pillars in this game kinda suck and that goes to combat and normal stealth, social stealth is still good and parkour as everyone saw from this video is still good
Yes, that is true. There are certain times when just doing a simple climb upwards is the only option. But it's not too frequent. About the Combat and Stealth, well yeah I love Bh combat way more than 2, but I would suggest that you check out the channel named Execution Producer. He has an Advanced AC2 combat guide. It isn't as fun as Bh, yes, but I feel you'll appreciate 2 combat more. For stealth, yes, again it's very limited, but you can go watch SSJ Lang to get an idea of how well he uses the few tricks fo his advantage. Hope this allows you to enjoy 2's gameplay more!
It does suck. Try to do your "beautiful looking" routes while chasing enemies, or doing stealth. Ezio is going to jump of buildings or grab ledges and then not being able to climbing to the edge that's 90° away from it . Ffs, most people haven't even played the games and just want to fit in so they say what's popular. Who are we kidding here, we both know that even some people in these comments defend this game but have never played it.
Tbh, I felt like AC2 to AC Rogue's parkour systems were easier, at least for me. They literally couldn't do everything that Unity and Syndicate could do, so there were less options of parkour. With less options comes less room for error lol
Bro I’m literally playing ac2 right now, this game is SUPER clunky, you’re not doing anything in this video. No combat, no chasing anyone, thieves, nothing, not even going anywhere in particular. Of COURSE it’s going to flow just fine. But in the heat of the moment shit gets ROUGH, ezio literally just does whatever he wants like 30% of the time and can really fuck everything up. Just trying to catch thieves in the middle of a city is horrendous, you have to wait for them to jump onto the ground or get lucky enough for you to knock them off. Otherwise you’re going to fall like 95% of the time. I love every AC game in its own right and 2 - Rev. are my favorites but don’t be disingenuous, the game was clutch as hell and it shows if you played it right now after playing a modern game
Well, I understand with the chasing thieves part where you have to wait fir them to do certain things, but everything else I disagree with. I have played AC2 multiple times and never have I felt that the movement in any way is clunky. Have you tried watching Leo K's guide?
parkour is really useless in the classic ac games imo. the only time i use it is when i'm escaping or if the game tells me to. but the later games like ac3 i keep parkouring since it's faster unlike the classic ac games where running in the streets are more efficient than parkour unless you're good at it.
revelations also added the hook blade but Ezio rarely uses it automatically while climbing, if Ezio keeps using the hook blade while climbing the parkour in revelations would be so much better than brotherhood and 2
@@thatsaweirdone i'm not saying that the classic ac parkour is bad, if anything it's actually quite decent. it's just that it's useless most of the time and that running in the street is often better faster than parkour.
@@thatsaweirdone here's what i found on steam that i absolutely 100% agree on: I agree that it controls like ♥♥♥♥. This is a PC version, we have many buttons, there is no need to make grasp and release the same button, or to not have a run button that won't also make you run up every wall should you twitch even slightly, or suddenly jump off to somewhere you didn't even remotely want to jump to. Since we don't necessarily all have controllers, horrible fixed camera angles in the dungeons which make you do diagonal jumps for no reason are also a nuisance, especially when you press one direction relative to the camera, but the game decides to take it as relative to the character instead so you might need to, for example, press right to make Ezio jump forward from the camera's point of view. Also, why is it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficult to just go down from somewhere? Ezio either stumbles and then has to slowly climb down, or jumps off twenty meters in some random direction off of every ledge. He can't even let go instantly, he always has to finish some random animation first. I've seen first person shooters with much better platforming! The first AC, while not ideal, was still much better controls-wise, in my opinion.

@@thebulletkin8393 yeah I agree
Every City in Assassins Creed 2 is a Paradise for Parkour! 👍
Absolutely agreed on that
If ubisoft ever want to remake the ezio games entirely. I expect them to really use the down descend from Unity + the existing parkour mechanic from the ezio games + the combat mechanic from brotherhood.
Please gaming God bless us fans of the franchise to lay our eyes upon this

@@anvilmeethead9517 thanks for the compliment, but I'm not the best at AC2. I may be able to perform fairly well at the combat (key words: may be), but I'm not too comfortable with the stealth of the game. However, as I said, I may as well act on this idea in the future, if I do grow more
I was one of tbe people that hated the game skmply bwcause the parkour was difficult because i just ran sprinting when trying to parkour instead of stopping or slowing down.
After learning the parkour over time from my mistakes its so fun and makes me appreciate the older games, compared to these brand new rgp wanna be called Assassins creed games
Such is the beauty of the old games. Their parkour had depth and a skill-ceiling, keeping the parkour engaging as well as fun
Assassins Creed 2007-2014 R.I.P.
Personally I'd say Origins was a fine AC game
classic acs give all opportunities and mechanics to move quickly and precisely, but ppl who complain about it dont wanna learn how to use it in the right way, blaming the game itself. thats really sad cuz now ubisoft makes games targeted exactly such audience
Yeah, it's really sad. Hope Ubisoft focuses on the people who actually love the series, and not the mass audience.

Excellent showcase of parkour. You picked the routes well and kept a consistent sense of flow.
How many venetian rooftop guards did you have to kill for this video?

Where did my lovely side eject go
Ah, who can even answer that question at this point?
It’s just part of the snap targeting system used in the games. This has always been an issue and with practice i’m sure you can find out what limitations come with each environment but this was a problem even up until Unity where Arno had inconsistent abilities and sometimes just wouldn’t do what you wanted him to.
@@gh05tnoh24 i understand. The snapping can result in problems, but it happens very rarely for me
@@thatsaweirdone it was also always annoying that if you wanted to make sure you didn’t jump off of a building you had to sacrifice speed by not sprinting.
@@gh05tnoh24 i don't find that annoying. I think it adds a level of skill to rooftop traversal. There are methods to do parkour downs off ledges (of a certain height) which require letting go of Sprint at the last moment. With practice it'll come easy.
Better then Unity parkour thats for sure

I’m guessing the people who don’t like the old parkour adore the new parkour in Valhalla lol

While AC4 parkour is really nice, I prefer AC3 over parkour that one (among the Kenway games, that is)
As for how long it took me to master this system, it's hard to tell really. I started with Leo K's Movement Guide and memorized his lessons by heart, played through the games, and after a generous amount of free-roam, opted to make this video. Choreographing for a video did sharpen my skills, I'll say that
O yeah
The only reason people say these games are "slow" is because they hold forward and climb straight up buildings instead of using parkour starters or different routes up.
Yep, that's exactly how it is. Only wished the games tutorialised the techs properly
@@Liqhtmare yeah. That is true
AC2 parkour is still the best. When it came to Brotherhood and Revelations the animations aspect of everything became janky.
I mostly agree with you, but I will say that I really love parkouring in Revelations as well
@@thatsaweirdone Oh Revelations is still cool. The Hookblade is what makes it great
I've just bought this game a few days ago on PC and I'd say that the parkour system of this game completely sucks.
Literally no one has ever said that, but great video
Really? Well, what I wrote might not be the correct statement. It is paraphrased, obviously. But the idea was to show the strength of the Classic AC parkour. And also, thanks for the compliment!
I've seen people say it all the time. I even saw them say it today!

@@thatsaweirdone ok
Stupid people that are too bad for the classic AC and people that never played it.
Hope this allows you to enjoy 2's gameplay more!
its certainly more reliable than unity, albeit doesn't look as good.
You can have your own opinion, I have my own. Thanks for commenting!
Skill issue dude. L2P.
Tbh, I felt like AC2 to AC Rogue's parkour systems were easier, at least for me. They literally couldn't do everything that Unity and Syndicate could do, so there were less options of parkour. With less options comes less room for error lol
Yeah, that is true. But that also means less freedom
@@thatsaweirdone Good point! I did feel more free like a bird in Unity for sure. I was just bad at being a bird 😂
@@justiniantbh haha, it's quite alright. Everyone is free to choose their favourite parkour system. No worries anywhere

Your choice of course, but I never liked Unity's sluggishness
@@thatsaweirdone No you're supposed to get angry
@@dirtyshinobii nope, not at all! You enjoy whatever game you want to. All that matters is that you enjoy it
Bro I’m literally playing ac2 right now, this game is SUPER clunky, you’re not doing anything in this video.
Have you tried watching Leo K's guide?
parkour is really useless in the classic ac games imo. the only time i use it is when i'm escaping or if the game tells me to. but the later games like ac3 i keep parkouring since it's faster unlike the classic ac games where running in the streets are more efficient than parkour unless you're good at it.
oh and also the horrible camera make the classic ac's parkour even worse, you have almost no control over the camera and it keeps spinning.
revelations also added the hook blade but Ezio rarely uses it automatically while climbing, if Ezio keeps using the hook blade while climbing the parkour in revelations would be so much better than brotherhood and 2
Of course, you can have your own opinion, I just don't share yours
