You hit the nail on the head, these cars are therapy. Any chance i get to drive mine allows me to forget about everything else and just enjoy the sound and complete driving pleasure. I live in Kentucky and we have great country back roads. Nothing like going for a spin and listening to the Fister stage 2 roaring. You have to drive one of these cars to truly appreciate that sensation. Keep up your videos, always a pleasure watching them.
Hi Jakob, Isn't the door thing great? The 356 is like that too... Seinfeld said he loved that about his Speedster. I really like the howl from the intake at like 3100rpm. The 3.2 doesn't have that. The planted feel from the new rear end, that look from behind - you can see the 356 influence. It is turn and go - no worries. Feels small and tight and feels premium - no BS. Oh, it shifts really well - just the right throw and resistance. Steering is tight and precise, but not overly hard or too communicative (lookin' at you 3.2). Nice with the top down too and "normal" people don't freak out. It is the closest to the 356 Porsche ever built after 1964. It just has a beautiful sole... Franny
Awesome list!! I've never driven a 993 cab, I can just imagine how much more amazing the air-cooled sound experience would be vs a closed-in coupe. Exhaust bouncing off the trees in a silent forest on a curvy run - wow, perfection!!!... :O Thanks for watching Franny!!
The door fitment, when closing just sounds of a quality...distinctive only to the classic 911s. And the smell of the interior, is of oil/leather...no other car can replicate, and I love it..great video!! All 5 things you adore are “on point” to the rest of the Classic 911 owners...
Awesome video!! I am finalizing ride height now and getting alignment next week. My 5 things are 1. Rear end - best looking rear 911 ever especially widebody. Side view is the great as well. Front is love hate since I like the 964 lights better. The front has grown on me since owning. 993 rear with 964 cannons would be the best of both worlds. 2. Sound - perfection. Love love the Fister stage III's. Surpringly they aren't super loud like people state online. May even add sport cats and really piss of the neighbors. 3. Feel - due to size it's fun to drive and feels so tossable around turns 4. Old School interior - makes the car feel vintage. It's my first classic car and never understood what I was missing. 5. The door click - I love it!! Feels like a bank vault when you close and open the door. Never gets old!
While watching this video I really enjoyed hearing you share your feelings on the 993. I have always been in love with the look of that model, especially the low, wide and planted rear look of the 4S/Turbo, simply put they are very easy on the eyes. I have found it can be hard when I am following one on the road, to not KEEP following it (missing my exit, etc.). They are just so captivating to look at. You have some awesome roads where you are Jakob, Thank you for the video!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment Nick. The look was a love at first sight for me too! I was saying to someone else that if we ever do enter a world of autonomous cars and banned internal combustion engines, I'd be happy parking mine in my studio or house (just felt my wife's eyes roll lmao), to look at haha.. :P
Absolutely! It is captivating art work as well as engaging transportation. Even standing still they will more than likely appreciate and be appreciated in the future!
The short wheelbase, wide hips and upright windshield and overall size are all characteristics of this car that make the 993 so special. These are things that a missing a bit in the 991 body. The car looks great!!
I had the Fister Stage 2's on my 993 for a couple of years, the sound was perfect!! Last year I installed a Fabspeed X-Pipe with 200 Cell Sport Cats, it made the car quite a bit louder. I just swapped out the Stage 2's for Fister Stage 1's since I felt the prior set-up was too loud, now it's back to perfect. Great Videos!!!!
Sweet! I'm looking for something a bit louder than my IIs, will investigate your setup...I was thinking of going up to a set of IIIs to switch out once in a while... But Xpipe with Stage Is might be the way to go! Thanks for watching!!!
Jakob! Superbly done -- visually and aurally. The interspersing of the engine sound was well timed. And it goes without saying your 993 looked great! Really liking those BBS's now that I've seen them for a while. The stick camera and the end of the vlog had me laughing. ☺ Cheers from Round Rock, TX.
Thank you!!! Now you got another one to watch! :P Cheers my friend! Are you going to Tejas Treffnpunkt in two weeks in Houston? If you are, I'll see you there! :P
Hi Jacob, great video as usual! And the best: You mentioned the same five reasons to own a 993 like I would name if someone is asking me, owning a 1994 Carrera 2 since five years now! Cheers and keep this car with the perfect matching BBS Le Mans like it is. Daniel
Nice as always, and I agree 911% with you that the 993 is the best interpretation of the modern 911. It's small, nimble, intimate inside, classic interior, all that you get less and less of in the newer versions. My 996 C4S is quite small inside too, as it doesn't measure that much bigger than yours, it's mostly front and rear overhangs really, and the 997 is a 996 in different clothing, but the dash design is much different event than the 996. The 991 again grew drastically up in size from the 997 as your pics show. But look at the specs you'll be amazed of how little difference it really is from 993 to 996. I think it is more the "slabsidedness" that makes it look that much wider, and with a design allowing for more flush glass as well as the incline of the windshield where the 993 is more upright than the 996. It may also be the curvy design in the 993 that brings the nimbleness about more in that car than any before or after it. Anyhow the mixture of cow and warm motoroil is the smell of a real man, a modern cowboy and adventurer, and it's gone in the watercooled cars.the leather is there, but no warm motoroil smell anymore since you don't suck air from the tinware around the engine into the cabin ;-) Bulgari has actually bottled this smell for men (Bulgari Black) lol. Ill trade you my 996 C4S any day for that experience...
Thanks so much for checking out the video, and for this wordy response!! I have to check out that Bulgari Black LMAO. I hope you get a chance to drive a 993 sometime to compare to the 996 - though, I agree, besides the aircooled whirl and stinky interior, 996s I've been in, still have an old school vibe to them. Thanks again!! Take care! :)
I think you'll be happy wearing black on your outings in your 993, it'll definitely fit the bill *lmao* and I have driven enough 993's to know it's what i'd really like to have. But seriously, choosing the 996 C4S wasn't a bad second choice as it certainly retains quite a bit of the "old school" 911 feeling. It just doesn't have the looks. It has however certainly grown on me to the point that I now think differently about the ugly duckling, I kind of fancy it's distinct face nowadays, and the 993 has much of the same, a distinct front fascia that has more in common with the 959 than any other Porsche, maybe the 968 has a bit of the same, and is also a Porsche I'd like to have and should get before it becomes outrageously priced. (now I'm rambling, sorry) keep up the good work Jakob, I'm already looking forward to the next episode of 911%
I enjoyed your vid and I miss my wee compact carerra 3.2 s whale tails of my past life before I got Ill . At least I had some fun and tasted what your enjoying now . Thanks for the memories . All the best from Northern Ireland .
Great video.. totally agree with you- got one myself, and its my fav. 911...if only they could be 400 lb lighter. This channel will go a long way- well done with everything.
Thanks!! I agree, but then I haven't driven a lighter 911 yet so I really don't have a point of comparison... I wonder how much more you would be able to tell that the engine is in the wrong place in a lighter 911 :)
Nailed it! 1. Design - the Tony Hatter refresh of the 964. Love it. 2. The size? Perfect. It’s small! I can touch the passenger door without leaning over. 3. Handling? ‘Nuff said providing the tires are correct etc... 4. The smell? Ahhhhh... soooooo old-school good. And 5. The door clicks? So refreshingly good. It’s a great companion to my Gen-1 Spyder which has many of these same attributes, including its unique smell.
I missed the SOUND!! LOL...I was driving home after shooting being like, damn, that sound is so key! I have to do a follow up video one day :) Cheers Joel, thanks for watching!! :)
Yes that door klick and close sound, a 993 owner jump once in to a ferrari (out the same era) and was irritated he says to me the 993 feels comparised with the ferrari like a S class.
Thanks man! Yeah, I love the 993 GT2/RS Clubsport wheel - MOMO Mod 7 with the dish. Sick wheel. Car is going back to stock/GT/OEM+ mode so a no-airbag wheel won't work for me... :)
Ha, yeah, I'm doing a follow up on sound! I can't believe I didn't add that haha. I'm running FDMotorsports Fister Stage 2 exhaust, everything else is stock (headers, cat, etc)
Hey, thanks for watching!! GT3s only come in stick so that's a good sign! But yeah, short answer is: DO IT. Amazing cars. I've only had a ride in one and it felt incredible. The Mezger engine howl is intoxicating...lots of smiles per mile.. Also, it's a modern day classic; can't go wrong.
Thanks for watching Ray! I'm planning to organize a big cruise this year so stay tuned I'll announce it on the channel or on Instagram once the driving season is back on. :)
Completely agree...Ha, not the one I drove! LOL...but yeah, Porsche leather always has a fantastic scent! I need to spend some more time in a Cayman :)
hey man, cool video, wide body cars are just better. Mine is wide body (C4GTS) and it's crazy how much better to my eyes they look verse their narrow cousins. I'm going to be purchasing some BBS wheels for mine soon, I'll have to start an instagram account...
Hey man, yeah agreed...something about those wider hips..even though it's only 76mm wider makes a huge difference. Love your car...a C4GTS is on my list for one day. Thanks for watching! Take care!
It's called Forks of the Credit River Rd. Watch for kids, hikers, speedbumps, motorcyclists, cyclists, oh yeah and cops! :) But otherwise it's a great road!

Ahhhh, I knew I wasn't alone!! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!! :)
Nice list. My favourites include:
The bucket sized tachometer.
The howl at about 4000RPM.
That it's practical enough to drive almost anywhere.
I really need to do a follow up video!! Those are great reasons! :)

Yeah, and yours sounds perfect! - The whole package!
Heidi and Franny's Garage how about a comparison video of the 3.2 and the 993?
That's a great idea! I wish Jakob was a little closer ;) It would be fun to compare his C4S to our little Normal Cab :)
The door fitment, when closing just sounds of a quality...distinctive only to the classic 911s. And the smell of the interior, is of oil/leather...no other car can replicate, and I love it..great video!! All 5 things you adore are “on point” to the rest of the Classic 911 owners...

great video, I have a 964 and completely relate to the smell... one of the best things about these old Porsches!
Thanks so much for watching!! Yes! 964s have the exact same scent! I love it! :)

Beautiful video! I love watching in depth 993 videos, you got a sweet 911 brother
Thanks for watching Frosty! :) Cheers brother!
The short wheelbase, wide hips and upright windshield and overall size are all characteristics of this car that make the 993 so special. These are things that a missing a bit in the 991 body. The car looks great!!
YES! So true, I love putting my hand on top of the steering wheel and extending my fingers to touch the windshield..lol..so bizarre :) Thanks!
The sound would have to be my #3. The air cooled sound is pure music 🎶
Ha, I was driving home after the shoot that day and thought...DAAAMN, should've done sound..Looks like I need to do a follow up video in the future :)
Hah well there are so many great aspects of the 993. It’s hard to fit them all in a short list. Love the content!
Great video! 993's are great for exactly the reasons you mentioned here.
Thanks!! And thanks for watching! :)

What an amazing car! Best car in the world definitively my biggest dream actually
Thanks for watching!! Cheers! :)
Love your car! Same colors on mine! I can so relate to your 5!
I enjoyed your vid and I miss my wee compact carerra 3.2 s whale tails of my past life before I got Ill . At least I had some fun and tasted what your enjoying now . Thanks for the memories . All the best from Northern Ireland .
Thank you so much for tuning in!! It made me so happy to read your comment!! This is exactly why I make these silly little videos! Cheers my friend!
Another excellent vid!
Thanks!!!
Clean car man! Tastefully done
Thanks Mike!! Cheers!

911Percent yay appreciate so much
Hi Jakob, I would have thought the fact that your Porsche was a 911 would have rated #1. LOL. Keep them coming my friend. Cheers Peter
Thanks Peter! :)

you have my dream car buddy, that is just so beautiful

Yes that door klick and close sound, a 993 owner jump once in to a ferrari (out the same era) and was irritated he says to me the 993 feels comparised with the ferrari like a S class.
Only the MB G wagon has a similar tank-like solid door closing click. That's funny about the Ferrari. Thanks for tuning in!
Damn...one video and i subscribed...rare
Thanks man! :)
Ha ha...I get the smell part....same thing in my 968. Have to disagree on the door though. Sounds like mine and I hat it.
Ha, they don't build them like that anymore huh? Love the smell :)
Good on that one Jakob, I do feel like the same with mine !
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear I'm not the only one! :)
Really enjoy your video content.
Thanks so much Lionel!! :)
Hi ! gorgeous car ! did it originally have this (awful) wiper on the rear window ? Is this easy to remove without leaving "scars" ?
Nice one Jakob. We'll put together. :-)
Thanks Al!! :)
Hi - enjoy your stuff - please can you do a side by side comparison between wide body And standard carerra body shape to see the difference ? Cheers
Thank you Benno. I will do a visual comparison in an upcoming video this season. Stay tuned. Thanks!
Yo man Are these wheels new or previous to the 5 spoke? Cause these look so much better! Nice!
The BBS LMs are new, the previous wheels I had were Techart OZ Championship...Thanks,I like the new ones too! :)
Awesome car ! 👍
Thank you Remi! :)
You're welcome !
Greetings from Germany. A really good car 😊👍
Thank you for watching!! :)
Bro your car is perfect 👌. The height stance the wheels every thing!!! Well done. Maybe a porsche momo wheel. 😉
Thanks man! Yeah, I love the 993 GT2/RS Clubsport wheel - MOMO Mod 7 with the dish. Sick wheel. Car is going back to stock/GT/OEM+ mode so a no-airbag wheel won't work for me... :)
You know I'm keeping a close eye on your pride and joy it's real eye candy for me....
6th: the sound!
BTW what kind of exhaust do you have mounted on this beauty?
Ha, yeah, I'm doing a follow up on sound! I can't believe I didn't add that haha. I'm running FDMotorsports Fister Stage 2 exhaust, everything else is stock (headers, cat, etc)
993 wide-body was and is the best looking 911 ever made
I agree with you 100%! Thanks for watching!!
Great work love the content
Thanks so much Carholic! There is always more to come! :)
Jakob. Franny gave you a shout out on our most recent video. Hope we can get you a few more views to your awesome videos! Heidi
Thanks guys!! :)
I like how you are describing your 993 as "your first Porsche" hint hint...
LOL, it's all about the state of mind James :) ......(a lot more aligning of stars needs to happen first!)
True that! Keep sharing your ride and that journey!
Cheers!! Will do!! Might kill me, but will do! LOL...are you going to TX in November?
Yes Sir!
See you there!!!!
i love your wheels. what brand are they?
Thanks, they are BBS LM.
Hey bud, I'm looking at buying a 2007 GT3 Stick. What are your thoughts of that vehicle. Thanks in advance. Love the vid. Cheers
Good enough for me. I'll send pics when I get it. I've got a 996 C4S and need a bit more pick me up.
I think you'll be satisfied with that GT3 then, it will have GOBS more power over that 4S.. :) Good luck with the purchase!! Take care!
Thanks again. Let me know if you come to Vancouver. Lots of Porsche guys here. And great roads.
I will reach out to Van one day for sure! Perhaps next season. I love BC! Thanks again for watching! :)
Let me know when you're going there. I am Brampton. 1987 Carrera
Thanks for watching Ray! I'm planning to organize a big cruise this year so stay tuned I'll announce it on the channel or on Instagram once the driving season is back on. :)
And i thought i was the only freak flippin' on the smell of my 993... 😂😂😂
LMAO, it's so good though! :P
100% this is a sensory experience.
btw ... naturally aspirated Cayman smells similar :-)
Completely agree...Ha, not the one I drove! LOL...but yeah, Porsche leather always has a fantastic scent! I need to spend some more time in a Cayman :)
hey man,
cool video, wide body cars are just better.
Take care!
Lots of cops!!!!
--Michael
I was lucky that day! :)
What is the roads name???
It's called Forks of the Credit River Rd. Watch for kids, hikers, speedbumps, motorcyclists, cyclists, oh yeah and cops! :) But otherwise it's a great road!
Mmm I can smell the 12 quarts of cooking oil
It's hard to say because the entire car is sick but I do like the rear end stance the way she sits, as you say the wide body rocks!! Enjoy Jacob 🖕
Thanks Jonathan!! Cheers!!
I mean the new 911 is stupid big for a 911
So true, but it doesn't feel like it when you drive it.
911Percent for sure a great car too! :)
Ahh yes the smell, reminds me of the smell you get at a race track.
Yeah, it's good but bad sometimes haha :)
997 is much better than the 993.
Nice car , but try to build it back to original.
Thanks for watching Mick. What should I bring back to original?
Need to lose that roll cage.....
