Hi, Gavin. I like your prerelease videos, it's really good to see your line about building a prerelease deck. But in this one the light reflection on the cards was a problem. It's something to care about in the next video.
@@daemonxblazeI had this issue with spell table. The trick is to not have the light directly in front of the cards, but off to the side casting light to the recording area. It can be a headache to set up
The way you did your sealed pool worked for my adhd brain. I’m going to build my sealed deck tomorrow night and I’m hopeful I’ll craft a better deck using your method thanks!
Hi Gavin, I used these techniques at the pre--release over the weekend, and I went 3-1 and came 7th! It's by far my best sealed result ever. I think my ADHD got int he way before, but the organisation helped so much.
This deck looks great! My BLB prerelease I had, like, no removal in any color whatsoever. So I just went full on white/blue flyers, and hoped I could evade them down to zero faster than they could remove my birds. Went 2-2. So semi successful.
As a judge, I do appreciate all the packs being opened first so I can collect the trash right away. As a player, I pile sort by color. Top row: artifact, black, blue, gold. Bottom row: green, red, white, non basic land. Using this over time is quicker as I don't even think about where my hand goes, it just goes to the color pile, and I don't misplace hybrid or split cards. Basically using the pile shuffle method but for color sorting. For lands I count the mana symbols, divide by 2, add 1. So, 20 red symbols would give me 11 Mountains/red sources (20÷2=10, 10+1=11). I'll adjust based on double mana requirements and available mana fixers/non basics.
Gavin! I’m not sure how else to suggest this but please do consider making some merfolk cards that have triggered abilities when they become tapped. It would be really fun and synergize well with my Kumena deck. I know we got some new merfolk in Ixalan and they’re good, but I really want my deck to care about tapping and untapping more than exploring. Thanks for considering if you’re reading this.
Honestly. No bombs or solid rares, it’s one of those pre release decks where your happy with whatever win you get. But aren’t gonna be super happy to play cuz it feels like pauper
Watched this and went 3-1 at my local prerelease! Some helpful tips even if you do open your packs like a madman lol there's no way I'm opening them all at once before sorting through the cards
Gavin, please print a version of the prototype "Waste Land" card into future commander precons. We need it to help handle non-basics in commmander without making someone else feel bullied in the way that Wasteland and Strip Mine can.
I honestly don't get why Bedhead Beastie got flicked to the side so easily. It can Mountaincycle and get itself in the graveyard easily for Delirium, but more importantly, it would be a nice top end threat and mana sink in the late game which this deck is sorely missing
Wait a f moment, im already seen this video, i remember that strange form of take one color at the time... O wait i think it was the bloom one 😅😅😅 deja vu
@@gabrielharvey956 He did it in 30 minutes and made it look easy. If you can "go through" an entire pile of magic cards without sorting it more power to you, but idk how you keep everything in your head that way.
The way Gavin does it actually does feel more efficient to me given the timed nature of deckbuilding in Sealed. Yes, it's a litte more time spent organizing at first, but you get a much quicker idea of which color is deeper and stronger afterwards, wich minimizes time spent deciding what you want to build. My LGS allots 50 minutes to deckbuilding and this video is 35 minutes (and that is while taking the time to explain his thought process for the audience and build 3 separate decks!), so it clearly works time-wise.
Hey Gavin do u hate magic the gathering because duskmourn seemed incredibly weak by the previous sets this year so far and we have yet to see the urborg like what u guys did for green for red, white, and blue colors. Even though realsing them around July 4th would have been amazing holiday publicy for the company as well as I belive a pretty good amount of profit from those long awaited and wanted cards. Why won't you guys make them?
Hey Gavin, just want you to smack Aaron, Mark and whoever is responsible, upside the head with the new announcement of secret lair being available in standard. If this happens, every single lair card must also be an alternate art to whatever is already available as a normal set with normal printing runs. To do so otherwise f's over your entire player base.
So a committee with some people that have a say on making the cards. Allow the cards to be created. Reprinted and then banned. After hitting new highs on the outside market. I mean it seems rather unethical. It's clear they are trying to get more people to buy more cards. Having these staples in secondary markets be so high stops them from being in the game. In short the rules committee sold out. How about holding yourself accountable for the cards being release and the thousands of dollars being lost by players.
Hey just want to say Universes Beyond sucks. I hope you think "I really make Magic less Magic" every time you must design a Universe Beyond card. SpongeBob? Really? i thought Magic could not fall any lower when reprinting Alpha in 30TH (Breaking the reserved list) killing the draft booster! But no Wiz keeps going lower! Played for 24 years.. I guess im out!

You guys are a freaking joke.
You joke about it but the trash thing is actually kind of a problem at our LGS, I'm glad it was called out - hopefully if more people open them all at once we'll be able to get all our trash out en-masse rather than trash getting in the way as people deckbuild and falling on the floor to only be picked up at the end of the day.
@@curtin1107 I absolutely agree with you. Except I dont see judges as the individuals that should be the ones to do so. I was thinking the same thing.
It was really awful… I kept finding myself tilting my tablet to try to remove the glare and then sighed…
What would you suggest he do?

The glare on the cards was unfortunate but it is fun content nonetheless. Thanks for the advice!
I'd like to see the deck in action! Maybe get a friend and test out the decks! Could be a third video in the prelease rotation.
Thanks for the video, backlight reflection is blinding the text on the card though.
i am very new to playing sealed, my first prerelease was Bloomburrow. and i super appreciate these videos to help me learn.

i'd be tempted to splash black for the undead sprinter
so basically if i pull an overlord i just build with it and the second strongest color?
Why didn't Valgavoth's Lair get the Lair subtype?
simple. it's not a lair
bruh
for the same reason god-eternal oketra doesn't have reach and the world tree isn't legendary
@@Arkzard It isn't a bounce land, so it isn't a Lair
Because wizards of the coast doesn’t think about the names they use vs the types they have lmao
ill be going to my first draft event tomorrow so this vid definitely helped out a ton, You're awesome dude!
Just FYI, prerelease is not draft! Draft & sealed are both "limited" formats, but sealed =/= draft :)

Maybe could have splashed white for the vehicle rare given the 2 dual red/white lands. But maybe too hard with 2 white pips. Otherwise looks solid
Gotta work on lighting. As well as going full frame on the cards. Otherwise, thank for posting! 😊
Our judges won't touch trash lol. They just glare at you until you do it
Remember the Pinkertons and Magic 30. We do not forget. Also, Sprankle has an Onlyfans.
Perhaps direct this to someone at Wizards who can do something about it. Gavin is not that person.
Gavin has the intellectual depth of a parking lot puddle
Card by card is way faster
definetly
Yeah, he's going through the deck multiple times vs only once. My dumb OCD brain was like "what is he DOING!? The clock is ticking!"
if you do it card by card you only go through the pile once rather than 5 or 6 times. my thoughts are that card by card is faster
Your brain can do i.e. "blue - nonblue" a lot faster though, and with each iteration the stack gets significantly smaller
Yes the way he does it is a big nono he doesn't mention you are timed to craft your deck so wasting time like he does is not a good idea

$40 at my local store
25 bucks at LGS
I could be wrong, but blue seems weak, green white strong
