    What happens when you unscrew and remove the screw or put the screw all the way in?

      It will either not engage at all and cause the gate to shake or will not allow the gate to drop.

    Can you do a gate perspective on this crossing

  • @Olive4577
    @Olive4577 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Technically 1:07 so the rotation life up gate is too wobbly and it needs to be more stabilised because these light a detection by the gate and on the track but the worker that’s doing it is using it manually and if it is too wobbly it may keep going for that shake for a very long time 😅

      They ended up getting installed on the Wabco signal (soon to be featured).

      Guess we will never know, this crossing signal has been removed and replaced with a brand new one.

    I have a video inside a working installation on the Union Pacific a signal maintainer let me see it has the newer stuff mixed with relays to it on my channel

    How many times a day does that get go up and down

    • @RailroadSignsandSignals
      @RailroadSignsandSignals  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t actually activate every day, only on the weekends or when I maintain them during the week. The signals usually activate about 6-16 times a week. Sometimes even more.

    Do S-60s do this also? I haven't seen it happen yet

    • @RailroadSignsandSignals
      @RailroadSignsandSignals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have seen a gate that is down on an S-60 mechanism then it may be caused by a failed hold clear. The S-60 mechanisms do not pump/oscillate for long as the board will detect that something is not right and it will drop the gate. Same goes for a gate not able to go all the way up. The S-60 will know it and will drop back down. The gate after a while will try and go back up to see if the problem is cleared but I have not tested it on a failed hold clear yet, just with an obstructed gate.

    • @hunterduncan362
      @hunterduncan362 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah neat, I've only seen fast drops with S-60s

    • @RailroadSignsandSignals
      @RailroadSignsandSignals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      S-60 mechanisms cannot drop fast unless the counterweights are completely off. It would have been an S-40 or S-20. The motors simply don’t allow an S-60 to drop fast due to the increased gear reduction. The motor of an S-60 spins way faster than the larger red type S S-20/40 mechanism motors.

    • @hunterduncan362
      @hunterduncan362 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah my mistake

    • @RailroadSignsandSignals
      @RailroadSignsandSignals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is very hard to tell S-20/40 mechanisms from S-60’s without seeing the inside or if they activate. Even I can’t tell the difference since they use the same outer housing. Just waiting on seeing the new Siemens S-80 mechanism to appear. They came out with it last year and is said to have a smaller mechanism box.

  • @crazybenzy3426
    @crazybenzy3426 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you listen closely the problem deals with a Canadian goose getting stuck in the mechanism you can hear him in the background if you listen closely
