Greetings from Lebanon. Two weeks ago i found in e-shop pre-owned Squier PB VM TB. Now i am waiting for delivery. in Thomann e- shop i have bought pickup and bridge covers to make it in really 51' vibe climat. Actually - i look forward to take that Squier lady in my hands
I'm surprised how the stock pickup on the second TB sounds very loud on the amp, my bass is a stock one and i even played it in a guitar amp (as i don't have a bass amp right now) and it sounded quite clear, didn't have that distorted, boomy sound as yours, but it sures sounds very much like the fretless one. I also agree with you on the necks, as i have medium-small hands, i like the neck a lot on mine, it feels very much like a "D" shaped one to me, also, some months ago i played a brand new Classic Vibe 50's P-Bass and i don't know if Squier are making the necks slimmer, as the one i tried was very much like the one on my TB, but with more of a "modern C" shape and it sounded to me very reminiscent of Rickenbackers.
After reading this, I went and checked the pickup height on my TBs. I lowered the fretted one’s and it mellowed out that boom significantly. I haven’t played the new Indonesian CV50s, but my CV70s p bass feels almost exactly as you described. This Chinese CV50s is considerably bulkier, but still very comfortable.
Good morning. I'm considering purchasing a Squire CV 50's P Bass. I love how they side as well as how the look. Do you own all 4 of those basses? Also have you had any issues with the necks getting out of alignment? Please advise. Thank you.
Yes, I own all 4 of these basses. I’ve never had any issues with the necks getting out of alignment or moving in the neck pocket. These are all excellently made instruments, especially the CVs. In my opinion the build quality of the Classic Vibe series is on par (or better) than the USA made Fenders I have played.
The TB's sort of sound like upright basses on steroids!

I think you know this, but I use the 70’s Pbass all the time.
It’s crazy how great those basses are! Been messing around with trying different strings on it. Haven’t found any that don’t sound good in that bass.
