You heard modified bits and pieces of Norse Mythology, but each has been modified or invented whole cloth. For example, in the actual myths, the stonemason is nameless, and fails to complete his task, because his horse is... seduced by Loki, in horse form. Loki later births Sleipnir, an eight legged horse, which Odin takes as a steed. Because Odin and Loki are blood brothers, Odin rides his blood-nephew into battle. This did not appear in game.
@@MrAcuriteOf1337 You know, sometimes I'm glad that I have a terrible memory so I could forget this story from time to time. The mental image of Loki getting banged by a hors is... uh … a disturbing one to say the least.

SPOILERS: In the ending cutscene, there is a mural with Kratos' prophecy with one part depicting him, going away from a burning place (possibly Olympus) on a sail boat. Now if you're asking the details on how exactly the Greek and Norse mythical realms exists in the same universe: I don't know really know either and there have never been a clear explanation. But basically, these realms are nations separated by vast seas in which you can still travel by boat. In fact before reaching the Norse, he actually reached the Land of the Pharaohs (Egypt) and possibly meeting a local god, Thoth. This is canon from God of War: Fallen God comics which is the prequel between the original trilogy and GoW (2018).
My theory for the next game will be Kratos becoming the new All-Father, Freya will become the All-Mother to unite the realms through the two most powerful gods getting married. Eventually, they will have a child and name him after Thor. Loki and Thor become half-brothers like the Lore intended, but in a different way with Kratos as his father. Since Kratos spawned Loki, it only makes sense for him to spawn Thor as well. Maybe his middle name will be Baldur. Baldur Thor or Thor Baldur, either way, it sounds feasible.
@@ultimatevtgb7551 Come at me bro. I maybe was stretching the All-Father part, but the Freya and Kratos having a kid is definitely happening. It's just an idea, don't get your panties in twist.
@@aaronstrerk5521 Oh please, this headcannon of yours is hardly my concern. My concern is that you're so utterly ignorant about Norse culture and myth as a whole, that this headcannon went from being silly, to downright idiotic. In what "lore" was Loki and Thor ever brothers? Or half-brothers. Why the hell would they name their son after a murderous god? Then what's up with that middle name bullcrap? There are no middle name nor last name in Norse culture, ya bozo. If Santa Monica were to hire you as the story writer, any remnants of myth authentification they have left will go down the freaking drain, their sales will also decline because let's be real here, most people who play this game only do it because of the myth. That's why so many fanboys are screeching about going to different myths next. Educate yourself, then talk, goddamn.
@@ultimatevtgb7551 Oh my, it's like you think that pure Norse mythology is being used for the God of War series. Hey, guy, calm down, it's just a game. No need to be so rude and assume a bunch of stuff about a person on the net that you know nothing about. As for being named after a murderous god, Kratos is a Murderous God, Freya is a Murderous God, Gods are pretty damn murderous by nature. But at the end of his life, he sacrificed himself to go against his father, he made the choice to be better, that was pretty damn heroic and worthy of being remembered. They are gods so they have a very long time to become friends with other gods. Maybe Thor's daughter will become close friends with Kratos and Freya, maybe they name their kid after Thor for her. It's not outside the realm of possibility. As for the whole middle name thing, I meant it in the same way that Atreus also has Loki as a separate name. I could have phrased it better than calling it a middle name. Once again, it's an IDEA, I'm spitting ideas, go ahead and poke holes in it, that's how we learn. But...in my defense, there is some evidence to support this IDEA. There was a depiction of Kratos being worshiped and regaining his Godhood, he plans on sticking around to rebuild, they focused on building up the relationship of Freya and Kratos, we get to see Thors daughter inheriting Mjolnir, so who is to say that it won't be passed down again, and I'm sure there's plenty more evidence to support the idea of Thor being the next child of Kratos. I may not know much about Norse mythology, but I do know that Loki and Thor are brothers, That Baldur was supposed to be one of the survivors of Ragnarök. Kratos naming the kid with both names could tie that up. Heck it could even be twins, since Kratos had a twin, it's more likely for him and Freya give birth to twins, genetically speaking of course.
@@aaronstrerk5521 Loki and Thor are not brothers, Loki and Odin are the brothers, and Baldur is not a survivor of Ragnarok, he returns after Ragnarok, from Hel. So there goes your headcanon of naming Kratos and Freya's child after the two gods who are supposedly "brothers"
So that explains why Kratos is weaker than he once was. When he destroyed Olympus he practically destroyed the entire realm since the Olympian gods embodied the natural forces that makes up the realm. Now that the world is dead Kratos can no longer pull strength from that worlds Magic. So he relies on his own Godly attributions that is left to him. Also it shows the power difference between the Olympians and Asgardians. The Norns don't have the ability to actually control time unlike the fates. Also the Magics of every god in Olympus was far more advanced than what they have in Norse realm.

13:48
Funny thing about the first story, when I was playing the game the first time I kept accidentally going towards quest related areas so whenever Atreas or mimir listed the different giant stories Kratos kept yelling “ENOUGH” And I honestly thought that was just part of the conversation at first
😂😂”the hell’s an olive?🧐”
23:50 a hint of Hel; The daughter of Loki and Angrboda
10:55 Kratos thinking "Been there done that."
Atreus really did just do an impersonation of kratos 8:15
I love how blunt and dry Kratos is
Woman guard the house🤣🤣 to funny bro
Thanks to Mimir, i got a expert in Norse Mythology. Seriously i know more Norse names than names from my family

Wait but what about the Blades of Exile? If Kratos homeland dying killed the magic with it than wouldn't it also cause the blades to stop working? Maybe this is foreshadowing of Athena's return, my theory is that Kratos becomes a worshipped god but is possessed by Athena's evil nature and Atreus has to kill him to free him from his bonds of Athena
Those were the blades of chaos and they are fused/made from primordial fire so that's why it's still works
what weed did u smoke? it's literally named as blade of chaos in gow 4 and in gow 5, where did u even read blade of exile in these 2 games?
@@74z9 hey hey hey... He might have not played the games, maybe he just watched cutscenes that's why he didn't understand. But then again the blades of chaos looks very different than the exiles... Maybe he didn't play any gow or just didn't notice which blade it was.
@@alphawolf60 Yea I only played 3 tbh
@@richardromaine8639 as for your theory it's revealed in gow 3 and 4 that Athena is dead and have no power so she can't return... After gow 3 majority of the people thought that it's the last gow game because unlike the 4 or 5 other mythology's were not mentioned but then gow 4 came and took place in norse. Just like gow 3 and 4 had no connection and gow 4 just started without showing us how kratos got to norse from greece, I believe the same thing will happen with egyptian mythology. But that we will have to see in the future.

Yooo they referenced Macbeth! Love it
The dwarf very 1st side quest giver looks like the music composer of GOW.
Raeb? That's because he is lol
Raeb=Bear🤯
Is the tournament conversation a reference to play station all Stars battle Royale? I can't remember that from any of the games
I’m literally studying Macbeth in school now and that story caught me so off guard when I first heard it
4:20 is this the tale of Macbeth?
It seems like there's less Boat/Sled stories this time around.
5:03 ah yes, macbeth is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical
13:46 oh hey they dropped a mortal kombat reference (who's mimir referencing to when talking about history's greatest musician? is he talking about johnny cage but just got his job slightly wrong?)
13:44, is Mimir dead ass referencing Playstation AllStar???? Lmfaaooo
Yes
They never answered how did Kratos get to the Norse lands. ☹️
Probably on a boat?
He sailed there.
4:25 Mir Mir is telling the story of Macbeth. A famous Scottish story
It took me a while to realise that Mimir was talking about Macbeth
4:20 IS MIMIR DESCRIBING THE SHAKESPEARIAN PLAY MACBETH HERE!?!
5:22 pretty sure that story is just Macbeth lol
Mimir: Tell a Story
Kratos: "Haaaaaaa" 😂😂😂
I just realized mimir just told the story of macbeth
I'm sure uploading the 24hrs God of War Ragnarok playthrough in 4K will fry your computer 💻😅
Where?
when Kratos laughs, you KNOW it was funny
13:45 love the mortal kombat reference lmao
It’s actually a PlayStation All-Stars reference
Is the Laird story 14:16 an original story or some real world poem/story?
It's based on a bhuddist Koan, I think. I'm not an expert.
It’s commonly known as a zen parable of Tanzan and Ekido. They rewrote it to fit Mimir’s perspective.
@@abnerdwight ah I see, thanks for that I knew it sounded familiar.
13:43 Is Mimir talking about PS All-Stars Battle Royale?
So, Mimir is not only Puck, but also Shakespeare.
Wait wait wait…… the story Mimir tells about the three witches and the Thane………. IS HE DESCRIBING MACBETH!!!!!
Shhhhh! Don’t say it!
The Scottish Play, with that thick accent
4:25 he’s talking about Macbeth
My theory for the next game will be Kratos becoming the new All-Father, Freya will become the All-Mother to unite the realms through the two most powerful gods getting married. Eventually, they will have a child and name him after Thor. Loki and Thor become half-brothers like the Lore intended, but in a different way with Kratos as his father. Since Kratos spawned Loki, it only makes sense for him to spawn Thor as well. Maybe his middle name will be Baldur. Baldur Thor or Thor Baldur, either way, it sounds feasible.
Let's be frank real quick.
Are you being satire?
Do not let me go off on you my friend.
@@ultimatevtgb7551 Come at me bro. I maybe was stretching the All-Father part, but the Freya and Kratos having a kid is definitely happening. It's just an idea, don't get your panties in twist.
@@aaronstrerk5521
Oh please, this headcannon of yours is hardly my concern.
Thx bro i was in eager to see some boat chit chat
4:27 a refrence to Macbeth!
Mimir talks about nimue the lady of the lake? The same one that forged Excalibur sword for King Arthur? Where is mimir from?
He’s Celtic
Mimir quoted macbeth
Only 28 minutes?
Seems a little short.
There was tons of mission related stuff, which is great as well. This is more of the auxillary conversations.
14:03, I'm drawing a blank on that story about the greatest musician and Kratos being in a contest, anyone know about that?
14:30 isn’t that story originally with 2 Asian monks?

They could also be referencing the PlayStation All-Star. "Greatest musician in history" could be a silly reference to Parappa the Rapper.

at the 14:30 mark, that story Mimir tells... what the fuck is he even talking about??
Ooof... Freyr had sexy-time with Odin
Kratos really regrets not joining Leonidas huh?
