emma + mr. knightley // more than friends

Emma (2020) is the friendship movie we all need.
I have found my new Classic Literature OTP and I haven't even read the book yet. I cannot express how much love I have for the relationship that is of Emma and Mr. Knightley as it is portrayed in this film. I love the way their romance blossomed because.... they're equals. Emma and Mr. K constantly bicker and verbally spar and do so because they have a mutual respect for the other's intellect as well as an unending need to annoy the other (which is always welcome in any relationship). I think I love their romance because of how much it is based on their friendship and history with one another. They know each other, they've shared a life, and they chose each other because they knew them. They didn't have a fantasy or an unrealistic expectation of the other. From the start they've shown one another who they are and they love each other because of that. I think that's beautiufl.
Not relevant to the video but I also love the friendship between Emma and Harriet Smith. The love these two girls have for each other just melts off the screen. You can see they think the other is incredible, amazing and deserves the world - like true best friends. I love that I was able to see this film for the first time with the two people that mean the world to me, love you Andi and Gina! I'm going to make a Harriet and Emma video just for you two.
