Thanks, Adam. I like how you're yard is evolving. Sometimes our best results are the things that never were part of the big plan until they just happened.
I use pond die to help prevent algae. I believe it is quite safe. It is not a harsh chemical. More similar to food coloring like bakers use to color frosting. I think it has helped keep algae way down compared to other ponds I drive by near my farm.
Looks like things are beginning to work out for you and the pond project. Fingers crossed that you can do some ice skating and sled riding in the area!!
Another thing that may contribute to the water loss in the upper pond is water lost to the soil absorption. You can see the amount of water absorption at the edge of the water.
Keep ‘pumping’ out pond videos….it is fun to see you learn in real-time. I knew there would be a third pond but will there be a fourth? Stay tuned to the channel because the bug of making ponds is only limited by the amount of land available. Plus he has pumps now to move water around.😎
I'm sorry you've had so much trouble with your pond. But it's been absolutely fascinating to watch you work the problem and come up with not one but two more ponds. It's going to be interesting to watch how you are going to pump water up to the old pond, and to see how the two new ponds come out before winter sets in.
The bottom location seems too easy after all the effort of the upper dam. That bottom pond is such a sweet location in proximity to your new shed. I could see a sweet winter shelter for skating using the shed if you ever choose to develop the bottom location into a bigger pond. One plus if you do have to abandon the upper pond, you have plenty of material from the upper pond to develop the lower pond into a first rate spring fed pond. Wish you the best of luck either way.
In the intro and at various other times when you’ve shown yourself cutting wood on the mill you brush the sawdust off with a hand brush. You’ve got an air compressor that might go to good use there. Or, it’s just extra. Just an idea.
You should try welding a chain from upper left to lower right and another from upper right to lower left in your bucket ,Leave them loose enough to lay against the bottom of the bucket . this will keep the inside of the bucket clean in that clay
Now all you need is some rip wrap, for your drainage areas in the pond Bank and then some Hydro seating. After that, you’ve built yourself in oasis my friend.
@HometownAcres is there enough fall below the lower pond that you could use a ram pump to transport makeup water to the upper pond? Even the law of gravity has loopholes. 😉
Hey man, first, glad you’re okay after your grinder incident. Second, you’re leaning in hard on being a pond building guy as another side hustle. One thing for sure, your pond vids are a must see for anyone wanting to add a pond to their property. Keep up the good work, be safe.
Are you going to put some fish in the small pond like bass and bluegill so when you're camping down there you can have the kids fish it. You got to start them young.
Remove the dye from the lower pond. Heavy die in the upper pond. You should be able to see seepage into the lower pond those underground streams will increase as the upper pond fills. No matter what.!! A dam increases water table pressure/levels “Down stream” dramatically. As well as upstream.
@@blklbluvr simple cheep solar panel agitation pump can prevent algae. I know why he put the dye in my suggestion will show seepage and water patterns. Can add it back after diagnostics
Looking good Adam. I'd be interested in a excavator review now that you've had a lot of time on yours. Thinking about trading mine in for a smaller machine.
watching the 5 acre pond channels, he said that polymer sealant works best on clay soils,, so if you do have a leak, maybe give that another shot. That said, I hope youre just evaporating and pond is all good.
Seems like if the landplane was made to move dirt backing up it would have replaceable blades facing the back. Can’t say it won’t work but seems like it would cause problems in the long run.
Hey Adam Please bring back the firewood videos or here is a another idea : Make like 4 hours or 12 hour long videos of your wood stove that is busy burning firewood... that would be really nice!!!!🔥🪵
Why not abandon the upper pond and put all your efforts into enlarging and developing the lower pond? It’s a sure thing. You’re fighting an uphill battle on the upper pond that you may never win.
It's been quite a while haven't seen him on his channel. We saw him once when Adam was building the pole building but that's been it. No update on his channel. Nothing.
As a non-American I'm just facianated by the pond dye. I've never seen or even heard about something like that here in Sweden. The neon color makes it look absolutely poisonous, but I assume it's not.
It’s not poisonous. It is Safe for swimming and aquatic life. Its primary goal is to block sunlight in the water to prevent algae growth and weed growth in shallow water
Glacier fed lakes are a similar color on a sunny sky. Look up Diablo lake in Washington state in the north cascades mountains. I’ve seen it in person and at times it’s straight out of this world looking with its turquoise gunmetal hues. And I’m 100% sure those people don’t dye it, those environmentalists would die before they dye their lakes. 😄
I’m also not a fan of brown murky water….maybe half or a quarter of the recommended dye amount to just give it a slight tinge of blue would look more natural?
would you be able to add material to the fire pit area while keeping the trees base lower(in basins) in order to raise the pond further? or not worth it?
Once the ground dries out, to get rid of your excavator and tractor tracks, you can use your riding mower with an upside down pallet pulled behind it. Or, just use a rake.
I’m so ready to watch the video you make when you revert the upper pond back to a nice field. It doesn’t belong there. Keep digging the swamp out and create a massive lake down there. Ponds belong where water goes, not in a field on a hillside.
Download the FREE Upside App at upside.app.link/hometown to get an extra 25 cents back for every gallon on your first tank of gas.
That's some great looking clay that's going to help take a lot of concern of overflow away. Steady progress 💪
Thanks for the update! Very cool second pond
Adam, I totally agree that this pond project keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the videos.
You have the best "watch me get it done" music. Thanks.
Very interesting project with the pond and improving its water level. It's clear how much effort goes into every step. Good luck with the next phase!
When will the lazy river from pond 1 to pond 2 be going in? A ski lift back to the top should also be on the list.
Yes Adam keep the pond updates coming bud. It's all looking good still got my fingers crossed for ya.
Thanks, Adam. I like how you're yard is evolving. Sometimes our best results are the things that never were part of the big plan until they just happened.
I"m sure this statement is a metaphor for life!!!
Thanks for the pond update, Adam! These are my favorite kind of updates!

I'm soooo glad you started these ponds so we can have lots of videos!! 😉👍 Good job! God bless y'all! ♥️🙏♥️
Everyday is a project starting, midway or finishing up. But Adam always has ideas cooking up… LOL!
@AdamsMom921 Ahahahaha!! That's great for us!! I want to see a big fire & snow around the pond!! Y'all will have wonderful memories there! ♥️🙏♥️
Sweet! Pond #3 has started!
Lookin dam good! I really enjoyed the camera angle while cutting the slab at 1:20.
It’s time to start pumping uphill to the original pond. Also time to start building a third pond down yonder 😂
Another thing that may contribute to the water loss in the upper pond is water lost to the soil absorption. You can see the amount of water absorption at the edge of the water.
You're doing a great job with your property Adam. When will you be able to start piping some water to the upper pond?
Sure is looking nice buddy! Take care
You keep diggin and your home will be reclassified as “waterfront”. 👍
Have a great weekend, take care and God Bless!!!❤😊🙏

Have a day 😊

Remember when you processed firewood...Good times.
I will again. Just need to finish moving dirt before the season is over
Looking great 👍
Thanks 👍

My thoughts as well.
But the I will be green with algae. That’s the reason for the dye,no sunlight no algae.
@@blklbluvr simple cheep solar panel agitation pump can prevent algae. I know why he put the dye in my suggestion will show seepage and water patterns. Can add it back after diagnostics
The lower pond is so much nicer than the upper pond.
Mainly cuz it holds water and stuff haha
Yep. That's where the future action is !😂
It's a natural place for a pond. Don't fight nature.
So where is the bridge going across? Are your woodworking skills ready to make it happen. 😊
Looking good Adam. I'd be interested in a excavator review now that you've had a lot of time on yours. Thinking about trading mine in for a smaller machine.
The little pond behind the lower pond is perfectly suited as an erosion stopper. That's quite a lucky coincidence. :)
watching the 5 acre pond channels, he said that polymer sealant works best on clay soils,, so if you do have a leak, maybe give that another shot. That said, I hope youre just evaporating and pond is all good.
Have you considered adding top soil at the new firepit area and then seeding it?
Seems like if the landplane was made to move dirt backing up it would have replaceable blades facing the back. Can’t say it won’t work but seems like it would cause problems in the long run.
I wonder, is the upper pond actually seeping through the ground and actually feeding the new lower pond?
Hi Adam. Always nice to see what you are up to, but I am wondering about Neighbor Doug. I haven't seen a video from him in a while.
Hey Adam Please bring back the firewood videos or here is a another idea : Make like 4 hours or 12 hour long videos of your wood stove that is busy burning firewood... that would be really nice!!!!🔥🪵
Are you going to run a pipe to the upper pond (and the necessary power to run a pump)? In the long run I think you’ll be happy if you did!
Dan good Adam. Stay safe healthy and cool. Bill H from Cranberry Township
Why not abandon the upper pond and put all your efforts into enlarging and developing the lower pond? It’s a sure thing. You’re fighting an uphill battle on the upper pond that you may never win.
I kinda agree with that. Give it another year and we will see if the big pond is worth salvaging 😮
Pretty sure the water from the top pond is what is flowing into the bottom pond. haha!
Adam why not use the tractor and bucket to haul the clay? It would have been faster. But that might have cut down on the comments.
Nice work. I laugh when you say, “80* down to 40% humidity…”. In Phoenix, if we go above 30%, we are boiling. 5-12% is normal.
Philly was 85* at 73% humidity yesterday. When you build a major city over a swamp.🤦🏻♂️
50% humidity is low for us. Right now we are sitting at 89% humidity
@@HometownAcres yuck you live on the edge of the Ne salt deposits also. I’m sitting at 75% H at the moment. !!
A solar powered aerator would look really good in the lower pond.
Pizza joes on 18. 18% cash back lol. Love it!
That’s the one
OUTSTANDING : o .....
Where has Neighbor Doug been? He doing ok?
I just assumed he was being the camera when Adam was in the excavator
Hi haven’t seen a post from him in a while either
Missing Doug 😊as well
It's been quite a while haven't seen him on his channel. We saw him once when Adam was building the pole building but that's been it. No update on his channel. Nothing.
This is the same question I was gunna ax. I’ll betcha we don’t hear a word.

Not a fan of the pond dye either. Looks unnatural.
I’m also not a fan of brown murky water….maybe half or a quarter of the recommended dye amount to just give it a slight tinge of blue would look more natural?
At some point you're gonna have more pond than land. Haa
As I learned from @letsdid18 clay needs to be spread out not piled too dry
would you be able to add material to the fire pit area while keeping the trees base lower(in basins) in order to raise the pond further? or not worth it?
It seems that you put the first pond in the wrong location. The lower pond is doing great. Thanks for the pond update.
Adam, if you are making the pond deeper aren’t you going to have to move the pipe higher up ?
I really like that Mongo tilt bucket. You…not so much. Jk buddy!
ok, fast forward a bit.....take big pond and put it where little pond is. Make big pond site into something else
We want to see you in the cayak
👍
I am supposed that you have not started pumping water from the lower pump to the upper pond
I know you said it before but how many acres do you have, if you don't mind?
Once the ground dries out, to get rid of your excavator and tractor tracks, you can use your riding mower with an upside down pallet pulled behind it. Or, just use a rake.
Did Neighbor Doug get out of You Tube?
Adam, Why aren’t you using your siphon to help fill your large pond?
Had too many issues with the creek side hose getting washed out in heavy rains.
I can't believe you are still not doing accountant work.
Why
It would seem so much more financial better.
My thumbs up icon is normal-sized though. They don't show the big one in my browser.

Compactor on what? And of all videos I've also felt the music was a bit much....I felt it was well done (volume wise) on this one.
