Very informative folks! I had the great pleasure and opportunity to be the caregiver of an old friend of mine for 2 1/2 years. He had congestive heart failure and lived much longer than the doctors predicted. He had at home palliative care and for a while could manage many of his routine daily issues. However, towards the end he was totally bedridden. This is an extremely important issue and people should consider this for their family and friends. It isn't easy on the caregiver but the hospices help support them as well!
FYI, Medicare doesn't pay for institution room and board. Just the specialists that visit. So if you cannot provide home care you will have to cover the cost in an institution.
