😊I recall many years ago.my Elder Brother Purchased one of these, to convey his Racing Motor Bike to race Meetings. after awhile. we got a set of Side Windows. and Fitted them. We Bolted some Old Car Seat`s in the Back. and away we went. for many a year.. I Drove the Van. from Kent to Fishguard. a Trip of Two Day`s. then onto the Ferry. to Rosslare. Eire.. then a Slow Plod. down through Cork City. to our Cottage. in a Little Place called Sandy Cove. just beyond |Kinsale.. well we did it. as we had no alternative.. No Motorways. then.. Up Hill. First Gear. now wonder I was Kn--ked. when we got there. another time I drove to Holyhead. and across. even longer journey. but enjoyed every mile of it. on one trip. there was smoke coming from the dashboard. it turned out the Horn Wire was shorting out. so cut that off. and carried on. run that for a longtime. with no horn. if you had to warn someone. have the door open. and Holler. at them.. Ha Ha. those were the Good Old Day`s.. now do it all in a day...R.M.😊😊👍👍
Thanks to people like you, these classic old vehicles still survive. I remember in the mid sixties my uncle had a 1961 Bedford "Shooting Brake" as he called it. He had 10 kids and needed it for obvious reasons. A lot of memories of that old van. Hope its a good summer for you and the family to enjoy the Camper.

Are this brings back memories of my childhood, my dad made one of these, we tourered the uk in it and had some great holidays . I had to check the Number Plate to make sure it wasn't our one.
Stunning throughout. Absolute gem of a vehicle. I must say that the starter motor sounds perfect with that distinctive little "Clink" from the Bendix at 9:35...... just what I expect to hear from a CA !! Love it 👍👍👍👍
Lovely job and still looks like a very usable camper. I remember seeing these campers on the forecourt of a company called ‘Turners’ in Barry Road, East Dulwich. It was in the early 60’s and I was about 7 yrs old. Even then I wanted one.
Recently found your channel and find it very watchable, awesome work you have done with "Charlie". And the other CA's where a lot would have given up😯. When I was working in a motor shop back in the late sixties, we sold those headlamp peaks, they came with a little red reflected on top so you could see that your headlamp was on/working. I hope you guys can help me identify a vehicle? I first learned to drive on a private industrial estate in the mid 1960s it was a artic shunting donkey I can't remember what make it was. All I can remember is that the clutch and brake pedals went down through the floor and the accelerator pedal was a long round bar with a round horizontal bit at the bottom that you pressed your toes on hinged from the bulk head I seem to remember it being a long way forward from the brake, the gear leaver had a little leaver near the top that you had to pull up to get it into reverse, I don't think it had synchromesh on the lower gears , it could have been a morris or bedford , any ideas please??
@@madworksgarage That would be great thanks , I was a bit of a bone shaker but it had a well sprung seat, Also it may of had a split screen and a long bonnet .
It was ldeal for a learner , If when you found the accelerator pedal you pressed to hard you had plenty of time to get your foot up before it made 20 Mph ( No need to change your pants !!)

The eyebrows are loved by my children so I couldn't possibly remove them.. regards
